Is gold just a shiny bronze?

Like honestly I want someone in gold to tell me how much different it is from silver/bronze. because ive gotten at least 10 different teammates with gold borders, and they ALL FED . Like literally 2/12 or 1/15 or 0/10 I'm not even kidding, and this is in a lower division, like hello?

Apparently diamond is where players are reliably semi-decent. Or so I've heard, but I suspect they'll still suck.

Platinum is just as bad (not speaking from being there, rather playing with plat borders).

Bronze/Silvers can carry against Golds/Plats. The players are all wildly inconsistent and can have really bad days and really good days.

Mechanically Bronze though Gold (and maybe even Plat) is pretty much the same. Only small variances so a good Bronze can (and will) beat an average Gold in lane anytime (specially if they get a favorable champion match up). Usually the difference comes from game macro-play. So a gold that gets a lead on the lane will be less likely to lose it and proceed to win the game, while a bronze with the lead will have no clue what to do with it besides bulldozing their opponents with raw power. That's why cheese tactics works on Bronze

Eedat6 votes

No its not lol

Mig891 votes

Yes it is. A bronze player will continue trying to force their lane and fight over and over just to get kills. A gold player gets a ill and then pings to take a dragon or other objective. That small difference will lead to a higher win percentage for a player and theyll climb.

Eedat1 votes

Again, no it's not.

Bronze players have poor mechanics and game sense. Gold players have better mechanics and knowledge. The notion that bronze/silver has the same mechanics as gold/plat is ridiculous

? i try to roam... sometimes too much.

Diamond 5 is dirt-stained bronze.

It's worse than ever.

For me, the "medal ranks" are all within boost territory (in that someone can be bronze and have a buddy boost them to silver/gold with relative ease). Diamond/platinum is where it gets a bit murkier and where the whole aspect of "luck" gets involved, as people are rarely boosted up there and if they are they usually never play ranked.

Games in general suck way less in Gold, but the players aren't like insanely better than bronze players either. There's a reason we're Gold and not high Diamond, Master, etc. We're still completely susceptible to making dumb plays or not having vision and getting mega camped.

That said, a legitimate Bronze level player (not someone IN bronze that just doesn't play enough to leave) should always get stomped by a legitimate (didn't get lucky or carried there) Gold player barring a ton of help from their team.

KoggyStyle1 votes

Ive earned bronze if i dont play enough to leave, True and well said.

You're going to hear all sorts of opinions on this, but here's what i've found to be true:

I feel like Bronze is generally players who are new and learning the basics of the game - these players don't understand the fundamentals of the game, and don't even understand what half the roster does. They might be good players mechanically, but they just don't know much about the game.

Gold is where most players have started to form a big understanding of the game, its mechanics, and are aware of what most champions do. They know what wins and loses games. Gold players are above average. Remember that If your in gold, your better than over HALF the players in league, thats a lot.

Platinum and Diamond is where the competitive game starts to be played. Meta picks, teamcomp, lane interaction all become really important. Players don't generally go above platinum until they are absolute experts at the game.

Honestly, (speaking as a bronze) not all gold's failures in bronze games (and I pretty much include silver here) are due to them being bad. Put the average gold into a bronze enviroment and they'll need time to adapt and stop relying on their team to make good decisions (stay alive), deal damage at optimum speed or even to show up for objectives.

Having said that, some golds, especially ones dropped into bronze games, are, when it comes to the micro, just playing with bronze tactics but better mechanical ability, so they can make the same dumb mistakes and outwardly they'll look the same.

Silver and low to mid gold are fairly equal in terms of mechanics, especially if those players got to gold 5 on a win streak and stopped playing. Some silver and bronze players are actually surprisingly good mechanics-wise but have terrible decision making and are stuck in their elo because of that. This means, you can go 10-0 every game and still be in bronze/silver, also you can go 0-10 but be carriable and make good decisions and get to gold if you are lucky.

KoggyStyle1 votes

yup my decision making isent the best XD im improving slowly imo.

Eedat1 votes

Well my MMR is somewhere in high Gold and I dont feel like I'm that good. But then I play norms with my irl friends who are bronze/low silver and end up demolishing bronze and silver players. Its a fairly drastic difference even though I consider Gold to be still pretty bad

Edge of Daybreak1 votes

You are going to get some really bad players and them some people who are very obviously smurfs. Plays in gold are sometimes better than what you see in silver and bronze but people still have flaws. For instance myself I have awful CS but I make up for it by roaming and getting lots of kills. Comps are basically a toss up as people dont want to play tanks but always want a tank.

Someone is going to feed hard on one team. It always happens. Some people really trust their team while others will not lift a finger to help others because they dont trust you or have had previous bad experiences so they say eh I'll let you die even though my help may not only save you but net us some gold.

Succubús GF1 votes

Oh yes I'm quite aware, I have a smurf of my own and played against a master smurf, and let me just say, I am not deserving of high elo, in the slightest lmao. I always hate playing a tank because it is hard on me when I don't get ahead, I can tank, if my team is willing to help in the process, sadly I'm not often lucky to get teammates other than trolls, so I stick to assassins

ill sav anything 1-3 is better than 4/5 of the next teir.

nawillzonny1 votes

Yes. In gold I still found twitchs vaynes and caitlyns running into melee range of me as Darius, not itemizing Executioners or Last Whisper AT ALL, having horrible kiting and positioning in general, and usually averaging 55 cs at 10 mins, which is bad. And I was in gold for about ~100 games, that's a decent sample size.

Succubús GF1 votes

You should have 100 cs at 10 minutes, right? I, myself am very awful at csing, it is something I constantly do poorly at because I make the decision to farm kills instead of cs, and usually can go from a range of 120-180 by 20-25 minutes in.

nawillzonny1 votes

I average atleast 80 cs at 10 min in an even/winning matchup, this is due to TPing to other lanes, possible deaths, maybe 4-5 are due to missing them, and roaming without TP. Of course, I still need to work on my decision making and when I go against Diamonds I get a rude awakening that I don't deserve Diamond yet.

plot twist: The Gold players didn't feed. they got out played. their opponents was master tier

Well I just placed bronze while playing against gold players in flex if that means anything?

grug1 votes

you are probably facing mainly mid to low golds on the downswing. your mmr is also on the verge of droppping to bronze so if your mmr is that low then theirs must be astoundingly low.

l Dárius l1 votes

When i see gold borders in my silver / bronze elo i assume they are bad because they normally just are. I mean, they are there for a reason. Might be a washed up thing or a "i have ovorwach oopdate so im goona troll lol servers hehexd" thing

Just like plat is a oxidized silver

KoggyStyle1 votes

dont forget alot of players were boosted last season.

Daxanater1 votes

the aspect of the game is actaully trying to win with good teammates which decides if you're a good player or not. if you get bad teammates and you struggle carrying them you dont really make it through, lots of gold players dont know what ranks really decide or tbh every rank is like that. ranks dont matter anymore because this game can be luck mixed with skill.

NudilloS1 votes

"BOOSTED GOLDS", check their LOLKING, for example, search in google "AFK WARDING LOLKING", see the graphs, usually they were platinum or gold and now they are bronze. They spend lots of money to get boosted and after 20-30 games they go back to bronze or silver. Until riot doesn't make something to stop de ELO BOOSTING you'll see shit like this.

Anyway, try to play OP champs to carry, like katarina, riven, yasuo, zed, corki, veigar, kassadin, etc, it's the only way to reach GOLD I or Platinum V. After Platinum V you'll get good teammates, they dont flame, they ward, they advice you.

BRONZE - SILVER - GOLD = ELOBOOSTER/KIDS/FLAMERS/VIRGINS/HATERS

It's very hard to reach GOLD III-I if you don't play perfectly and carry/half-carry

Sorry for you, i hope you get rid of them soon

I've been to low bronze and I've been to low silver, and I can say for a fact that there is a noticeable difference between the two ranks in all things.

low bronze will autopush. They will have minimal map awareness and limited to non existent response to pings. They will b-line to a visible opponent regardless of the situation. They will not use summoner spells. They will not attempt to dodge skillshots. They will not use kits effectively, they will hold key team fight spells for self protection (looking at ashe players specifically). They will refuse to take objectives. They will recall when they need to pressure, and pressure when they need to recall. They will not react to how the game is playing in any meaningful way. They don't aim skill shots, nor do they attempt to setup the skillshots to hit.

low silves do all this better.

I Killed My Bff1 votes

My rank is gold 3. I started my ranked flex as bronze 5(since its flex im usually against bronze 1 to silver1) i still climb out in no time. So Gold is not shiny bronze. I mean some players CAN get someone to boost them or buy their acc
