Immobile Mages : Why they will never be viable.

DropFill··5 votes·2,250 views

Because of high mobile junglers who, for some reason, have insane damage, or can do decent damage while going tank. Talking aboutJarvanIV Vi LeeSin . Vi is one of the least problematic, because after ult, will be hard for her to stick to her target if her team can peel. But lee sin is just BS. He can flash while his ult is still casting, he has insane mobility that wouldn't be much of a problem if he couldn't , well, change you totally of position. J4 is the most toxic champion for EVERY SINGLE IMMOBILE MAGE. This is because they NEED to get out of j4 ult, and the only way they can is flashing. But his ultimate CD is much lower than flash. He will make you stay 3.5seconds on that stupid ultimate while AA'ing you, doing a lot of damage while being tank. I was playing as vel'koz. Every single time J4 saw me, he EQ + R, or flash EQ + R when he knew my flash was down ( my flash was down because of EQ + R already ). I couldn't do nothing on every single teamfight.

Also, they don't have nothing better than those mobile mages. Their full combo do more damage probably, but is much easier for a mobile one to do, get out, while killing the person doesn't matter what.

Syndra and Orianna have been used in the lcs and seemed plenty good to me and they're immobile mages.

Although most other immobile mages are complete trash now.

There are a few immobile mages that are good, but a lot of people complained about orianna and syndra for a long time. They needed to be OP to be viable. Syndra now is balanced and you don't see a lot of people playing her. Orianna got hit by the mana regen nerfs, but she is still strong because her kit is stupid strong, she has ways to protect herself while doing damage , and she is strong at zoning people mid.

Popularity and viability aren't the same thing. Even strong immobile champions, like Cassiopeia today, aren't popular. People really like playing mobile champions, because they feel more forgiving than immobile ones.

This just in, tanky bruisers with powerful dive skills are very good against immobile, squishy targets. You just BLEW MY MIND! Let's all applaud this guy for being the first and only person to realize that Jarvan could all-in and kill Lux with ease. I don't know how he figured this out. Riot, hire this man!

Seriously, no freakin' crap. The question is what is your suggested solution? Because Riot has mostly just been giving more and more champs mobility and letting the immobile ones sit in a big pile of "not really viable".

The problem is : you can't stay in his screen, or he will kill you, or will make you die. Doesn't sound stupid to you? For me , it does. Doesn't matter if you can drop your combo. Most immobile are squishy as fuck, and need a moment of the fight to actually use their abilities. With j4, you have to use them all, and die. Doesn't matter if you used it on your maximum potential or not

You cut off the part of my post where I said "Everyone knew this was a problem, what's your solution?". I like immobile mage-types. I wasn't saying the insane number of hyper-mobile bruisers, assassins and lately ADC's isn't a huge issue for them. I was just asking what the OP thought we could DO about it? Give everyone a dash? That seems to be riot's way out, and that moves the goalposts to be considered "mobile". In the world of single dashes, the multiple-dash champ will be king!

Hey....something might be happening.

Mages, immobile ones especially, are probably the class we'll look at next. That'll be a while off though, preseason's currently our biggest priority and then there's also some disruption during the holiday period in December. I'd imagine a PBE date 2-3 months into 2016's the sort of timeframe we might be looking at, that's very much a guess though and depends on how many champions we end up tackling at once (small batch could come slightly earlier, broader changes like with Marksmen would be much later).

syndra and xerath have been extremely strong picks for awhile. syndra has been nerfed quite heavily, but xerath is still an excellent midlaner.

Because xerath has a stupid huge range. Immobile mages with mid-low range are garbage, except orianna

Annie Brand Fiddlesticks Cassiopeia Lissandra Morgana Swain Vladimir If his team gets close enough, it won't matter that Jarvan ulted, his team is still going to die.

FIddle, brand, annie? They can be exploded easily lol. So can cassiopeia actually. Swain is a little bit tanky. Morgana can ult zhonyas. Vlad can pool zhonyas. Liss is not immobile.

Unless J4 is going assassin or has big back up on the scene, then any of these champs will have a split second to drop their big damage. Stun Tibbers is scarier than J4 ult. If Jarvan is going tank, then trying to lock in any of these guys means death for him and any ally that can't one shot them. I'm not saying it's a total one sided fight, I'm saying these are immobile champs that can turn around fights as fast as you can blink.

People can lock annie down before she can use tibbers at maximum potential. She is obligated to use her ult or she will be even more useless on a teamfight

Kuroi862 votes

Key word, can. Just like J4 can be locked down and killed in a matter of seconds, especially if he builds mostly damage. Just like his team can be wiped out if they aren't careful about the damage potential of their enemies. This game thrives on what you can do. Yes, you can do this, you can do that. But don't forget what your opponent can do right back.

Hmm it depends on the situation but Malzahar is really strong no matter his opponent. His only issue is being out-ranged or if they have gap closer CC that can interrupt his ult (like Vi who can not be stopped by Malzahar). If Jarvan's EQ+R combo doesnt kill Malz and it is a 1v1 then Malz will probably win, of course how fed each one is and their items are big factors.

I am not talking about 1v1 situatios. Talking about teamfights

Stephenizgod2 votes

Well if your team is any good they will make sure no one tries to kill you while J4 ults you. If not then Malz has a mass silence and his E deals a ton of damage even if he is dead, plus he melts tanks so you will probably still kill J4.

Swain and Fiddles are top picks right now. Rumble and Ori remain strong forever. Vel'koz is a solid support and mid thanks to his range and peel.

J4's whole shtick is supposed to be that his ult requires the enemy to duel him.

You could say that every single movement ability is toxic for J4...

Immobile mages will never be viable? Syndra was a highly contested pick last season, i keep seeing xerath picked in the na lcs this year, ori is seeing some play, annie is a great counter to zed, everyone's favorite qq champ at the moment. I disagree.
