Now you can send 4 ghouls down a lane and spawn 4 more to follow you. So Maiden isn't your only "Banner of Command" option anymore and you can save her for when you really need her for objectives, skirmishes and hard push responses. Also being able to leave ghouls to finish pushing down top lane as you back is pretty nice too. Gives you +15-ish seconds in back time to return to lane faster.

All in all feels absolutely great. Also not having Ghouls die just because you have Raptor Cloak is pretty nice too.

Hang on. I saw this buff in the notes, but I didn't realize the implication.

Yorick is supposed to have a max of four ghouls. I know that his ult previously allowed for more ghouls to follow the Maiden down lane if he split off. But this new change means what, each lane has a 4-ghoul potential at the same time?

Possibly. Good luck with that though. At most you'll have 12 ghouls at once. 4 in a lane, 4 on Maiden on another lane and 4 on yourself. If you move near a group of ghouls it will kill off the extras.

I'm not necessarily looking to set up a three-lane push or something, I'd just love to be able to B while my ghouls bounce a wave or something.

Yeah no it's absolutely great for that. You can even clear and send em off to auto push to the next turret. Great for applying map pressure.
