The whole idea of the ranked demotion/promotion system makes genuinely no sense.

The system is completely skewed. I think we have all had our difficulties no?

Have you ever stopped to think about what's wrong with it? There's quite a few things.

First of all, the matchmaking is matched not by rank, but by MMR. This is why good silvers are in gold games, or bad plats in gold games, etc. So this means that your rank has nothing to do with who you are matched with.

The promotion games are nothing special, at all, it's just the only three games that matter. Losing your promotion games does not mean that the players are too tough for you at all, because nothing has changed, so why do those three games decide your promotion?

Even if you are an excellent player and lost only those two matches out of 10 games, you still aren't promoted. 8/2 ratio still isn't good enough? As we found out before, your rank has nothing to do with the people you are matched with, so if the games aren't special, there is an artificial wall between ranks sitting there for absolutely nothing.

The demotion system is just the same. If you are on a loss streak, demoting you does nothing. Since we found out that the rank has nothing to do with who you are matched with, physically demoting you and constructing another artificial wall in front of you does nothing to fix the problem, it just makes you feel bad.

So what's even the point of these tests if none of the matches are any different? You aren't being tested on anything. If they are regular games, you already passed them by earning enough LP to get to 100, so its pointless to fail you from something like that.

Can we just go back to ELO? Sure it had its problems, but there were no artificial walls behind ranks, either you had 1500 ELO or you didn't, simple enough. This whole system makes zero sense.
