I've never seen a Thresh ADC do well when I'm not playing him

But when I get an IE on him with my 22 AD rune page, he absolutely melts people. Is there something specific that makes a champ with a powerful auto, decent range, lots of cc and a shield a bad ADC?

Just asking for an honest opinion. What makes Thresh ADC bad?

I'd assume it's because of his short auto range, his slow ms, and the fact that his Q and E force him to stand still for long a long period of time while his Q also prevents him from autoing or doing any damage in itself

Also, his W simply loses half of it's use if you cant engage anymore

Fair points, but two counterpoints:

  1. If he get a RFC, his range dependency won't matter, because he practically has a Caitlyn passive that recharges when he's not attacking, anyways.

  2. Since he's an ADC, he can use his W to call in his support to assist, and he can rely on them to do the supporting instead as he does his boat-load of damage!

except that's only for a single hit. Adc thresh isn't gonna be able to do much after that first hit :(

as for his W, he still can't engage because any adc build will mean he's squishy as hell. Getting up close to someone as an "adc" usually isn't the best idea, yet thresh's kit kinda revolves around being next to an enemy

People think that because they saw it on a fucking youtube video, they're goddam genius now and can obviously play it.

There's nothing 'bad' about anything, meta or not, in as much as those things can be countered, or their strengths poorly matched to the opponents.

A lot of people kind of pussyfoot with ADC Thresh and don't really commit to the playstyle it's going to require. And people have a hard time landing hooks as it is, so this kind of advancement is not going to come easy.

Also the lack of armor adds an additional issue. He has to stack his passive to get his armor, which is easier said than done half the time.

Also if your support isnt on board with your decision, that will make it twice as rough.

I mean, that second part applies to anything bot lane.

The first part is merely an early-game thing that can fix itself in time.

He has bad DPS. Sure he can one shot squishies but he will do near nothing to anyone that builds tank. You need to save his empowered attack for him to work.
