So I was against a Galio mid and forgot to buy items at the start of the game
Playing
I was busy asking my top laner to escort the minion wave so singed couldn't proxy, and entirely forgot to buy starting items for the first time ever. I didn't even notice that I didn't have any health pots (or Doran's Ring) until I was level 4 and went to use a health pot at around 60% health.
Yet, the lane felt so good. My mana was obviously lower than it should have been because I didn't get mana back for last hitting, but I still had enough mana to trade and do well. I noticed I wasn't doing much damage to Galio despite landing most of my Qs and some Electrocutes, which suddenly made a load of sense once I realized I was missing Doran's Ring.
However, it was super easy to survive in lane for another 700g, which let me base for a lost chapter and 2 health pots. At which point I came back to lane and Galio based for a ruby crystal and sapphire crystal.
With lost chapter, I proceeded to have solid lane priority. Never felt threatened and kept him permanently pushed, never needed my health pots and based with exactly 2200g for Luden's.
The whole game felt like I was 400-500g ahead, and maybe it was just luck but I was consistently basing when I needed to, and happened to have exactly the gold I needed for each of my purchases. All because I forgot to buy starting items in a matchup where I was really not afraid of dying anyways...
