Any reference as to why Cutting ManaRegen Growth and increasing Base mana regen is midlane specific

I saw that the same change was made for both zyra and morgana and would like to know exactly why this is seen as "mid lane" balancing.

What im getting from this is supoort mages are gifted late game mana scalings, and mid laners are gifted early mana sustain, but why?

Riot said a long time ago back in like Season 5 that Riot has designated Flat Mana as a "Mage" stat and Mana Regen as a "Support" stat.

The reason is that Riot doesnt like Mages ignoring their mana bars and effectively buying their way into being resourcesless, as it effectively ruins the point of mana management, and on a class that deal huge AoE damage and have a lot of wave clear and chunking, this can be problematic for seiges, stalling out games, etc.

Supports on the other hand give up a lot of things such as damage and wave clear in order to stack mana regen now, so they see it as a fair trade off for it since they are dedicating themselves more to utility.

This change goes hand in hand with this. It also encourages more mana stacking, giving you a large reserve instead of simply mever running out, and encouraging otems that scale with and give more mana.

By lowering mana regen and raising base mana, they also give them more "ammo" to compensate and also promote better mana management.

my question is why are they pushing morg and zyra mid lane when this makes them stronger supports xD

well im guessing that the early mana nerf may hurt them bot lane, and that this is the point of these mana changes, i just dont see it though

It's not. Mana regen helps both lanes. The changes overall help Mid Morg and Zyra more though; can't isolate 1 of the changes and ask for overall context ^^"

Phreak's patch rundown video talked about the changes in detail though. Probably worth to at least watch the Morg and Zyra parts.

Because part of the problem is that mages were kindof unrelenting once they got their resources and it was better to create some actual gating around which they could be balanced and thus everything else could be balanced as well.

The goal was to make mana regen a "choice" so to speak and balance it against damage, movement speed, etc. Back in the day you could just basically skip the earlygame challenges on some champs and just try to make it to some snowballing point which was bad for the fun factor.

Diana item 1011 lel, earlygame complete!
