Can somebody who understands the meta explain to me why I feel that I have no agency over my games?

I feel that I have 0 impact. And I don't know what I'm doing wrong anymore. I used to be able to carry playing mid or top but not anymore.

Non-meta picks for midlane such as clearly have the damage, but I don't feel like I'm doing anything worthwhile. You can't really break the permanent Lulu and Janna shields, and your pitiful damage only tickles the ADC while they lifesteal everything back in a few seconds.

I used to main top but I have completely quit as of now. My last top lane game was probably in December 2017. Nowadays I'd rather jungle than play top. My jungle champion pool consists of only one champion while my top lane champion used to consist of .

Top lane has very very little impact on the outcome of the game. It doesn't really matter if you go 5--0 or 0-5, if your botlane loses you lose. If your botlane wins you win.

But still, going 5-0 TOP should count for something right?

The game as it stands right now is HEAVILY crit focused.

Therefore most games are won by pushing all the power and resources onto our crit champions (ADC).

So even though the game has significantly changed, we still have the lingering effects of the good old 5 people in bot lane meta.

So unless you are playing a champion that can:

shut down crit champions fast OR
Utilize crit to win

You might want to play to play some champions that can roam efficiently to snowball other champions. Or even some champions with good utility that help enable those other champions

Hey thanks for your reply. It's starting to make sense now. I knew Crit was strong but I didn't realize that everything is revolving around it so much now.
