Discussion: Allow Starter Items to Upgrade Once

I feel like the laning phase is a bit one sided these days. I don't lose lane too often (in ranked) so I'm ok with that I guess, but I'd rather give people a chance to have a bit more verve. Currently there are a few starter items: .

But in those the three paths are set out: AD, AP, or Tank. Fine. But what is those items could be upgraded once, or evolve like the Gold Income items to provide a natural pivot that would get you by until you're ready to sell for your 4th item. For example:

starter upgrades to add either CDR or MS starter upgrades to add either tenacity or +2gp10 starter upgrades to add either CDR or passive mana regen

It shouldn't upgrade to be a kept item. But something to give a little momentum to champs who might have been counter-picked, or had their laner swapped to a counter. Just a thought. I'm not dying on this hill.

i feel like top lane is just a stalemate decided by jungle presence, im not so sure Doran item adjustments would have any impact at all.

I'm not sure dumping more money into something that you'll have to sell anyway is such a great idea when you're behind. Maybe if the loss from upgrading then selling the item was marginal, maybe.

Not fight just farming under tower no trying to push an advantage because you already have one without killing your laner or forcing them off CS because you get 2gp10 more than them.
