I want a third mid laner- who is easy?

disregardable··7 votes·2,274 views

I'm trying to make a ranked champ pool consisting only of mechanically simple champions that are easy to succeed with. As an experiment.

Right now, for mid, I've got Morgana and Annie. A high range champion with lots of CC that is good when jumped on and is easy to farm with and a low range champion with lots of CC that is good when jumped on and is easy to farm with.

I feel like I need more. Suggestions?

Edit: Malzahar looking pretty good! Heimer's a bit too complex for me. Thanks guys. <3

Ziggs. He has good pole, good siege, high damage, zone control, and is mechanically simple.

Jiberamu2 votes

nice troll 10/10

darkdill6 votes

Ziggs has his uses, he's just not great against tanks. Just because he doesn't fit the meta doesn't mean he's a "troll pick".

Voluug136 votes

To add to this, Ziggs has ridiculous pushing potential and awesome zoning and disengage.

Remember, tank meta is not ''stack tanks and win'' meta, its ''tanks have a place now and thus make everyone else have a place too'' meta.

darkdill2 votes

Yep. See a massive creep wave coming in? Mega Inferno Bomb away! Bye bye creeps!

Jiberamu2 votes

you realize you actually have to hit spells to make the champion efficient? he asked for easy champions you brainless baboon

MrSprichler2 votes

and the only real skill shot reliant ability he has is his Q. everything else is zone control and escape,/disengage, and then his ult. you can use them offensively, but its very very difficult to get those mechanics to work right. thus most people just use him for his sustained poke and his long range aoe nuke. not really good to toss out names when you clearly lack the understanding of how you can use that champs abilities in a simple fashion.

Jiberamu2 votes

look at the 6 idiots that upvoted that ziggs is an easy champion LOL now i see why riot goes to reddit instead of the boards sure reddits dumb but atleast they can read.

PK Arcfire1 votes

Excuse me sir, you are digging yourself a deeper grave. Ziggs is a mechanically simple champion who anyone can pick up with basic understanding of the game, while possessing high damage, good poke, and zoning. He is not a complex assassin for "easy wins". Please grasp the understanding of reading comprehension before attempting to argue. Thank you.

Serious answer - Heimerdinger. For many patches now he's consistently had the highest win rates mid, and some patches top as well. This is at Plat+ so I don't want to hear that he only works at Bronze or something. You don't need any brain power to just farm up and be ungankable as that little turd. To make him even more troll than he already is, his ult continues even if you die, so if you get ganked and die odds are you get a double kill in return.

Edit: He's a fraction of % lower than Annie this patch somehow. Might change when more stats come in.

If Heimerdinger annoys you too much to play as, then use Malzahar. Refunds mana in a mana-starved meta with masteries even removed from access, ridiculous damage, impossible to shove out of lane, and can be super safe while farming with his Space AIDS.

Voluug132 votes

Heimer is a counterpick, he is supposed to have high win %. That is because he is picked against certain champions, not because he is easy.

Neo Cyrus4 votes

That's nonsense. If it was that simple counter picking, especially in solo queue where half the team jack off instead of trading picks, then many champions would have absurd win rates. Heimer is inherently designed to be easy, and is quite overpowered but with most of his fan base being permanently bad at the game the Heimer circle-jerk never allows him to be nerfed.

Earl Eulrich3 votes

no, it´s mostly because Heimer is hard to play against, so he gets an easy win vs most people that donßt know the champs strengths and weaknesses. If you fight vs someone knwoing your limits he´s by no means easy to use.

Voluug132 votes

Did you even read what you wrote? Heimer has been nerfed harder that any mobile ''hard'' assassin, nerfs that could make the Lee Sin/Zed circlejerk have heart attacks.

Heimer IS a counterpick. And he HAS an absurd win% for sucha weak champion. But solo queue is full of people spamming hypermobility and constantly underestimate rare picks. Just look at his stats, a gigantical 53% winrate (top 5) yet 4.32% pickrate. Same with Swain and Malzahar.

Neo Cyrus6 votes

"Nerfed", he had his broken ass infinite-turret bug removed. Maybe when you can see past your own biases you'll improve enough to not be ashamed of your main account's rank (Bronze 5) so you stop posting on this level 8 smurf.

Ace Access 2 votes

that and the fact the he can hide way behind his turrets outside the range of almost everyone

thats the main reason I'm hesitant about buying him

Earl Eulrich4 votes

Xerath is rather easy to pick up as an high-range-mage...not that good if jumped upon by more than 1 person, but you won´t find a champ that combines high-range and tankiness and won´t get fixed very soon. For low range stay with annie, she´s just the best for the job (though if you really want to extend the pool you can maybe give malz a try).

KenjiChan2514 votes

I'd say Lux. Easy to pick up but has a lot of potential.

Voluug134 votes

Mechanically simple =/= Easy champ.

With this, I mean Annie, Malza, Heimerdinger, Swain, etc.

None of them have mobility to escape with if they make a wrong decision, few of them have Sustain, low CDs, mana hungry, low range. Which makes buildpaths, counterpicking, strategy, vision and decision making more valuables that twitch reflexes, and sadly, those skills have been shoved into the back burner by Riot.

EDIT: Mechanically simple champions become better as you become better playing the game itself. The more you ward, the more you judge your encounters, the more you farm better, the better you are with those champions, while manaless mobile champions get to negate those aspects of the game with low cd mobility or low resource management.

Singecl2 votes

Malzahar. 2 Skill shots, easy to land. Huge damage, ult isnt what gets kills, its his e w and q as well. Not very many counters in lane. Counters many popular picks. Self mana sustain with E. Makes people rage. Malzahar Fun

Oh, and is a tank killer.

MrBuffington2 votes

Haha, sounds a lot like my champion pool; I also play Morgana and Annie mid. I haven't really found a need to go beyond two though; there was one game where both were banned but someone dodged (I would have gone to Orianna if the game went through; I had some success on her towards the end of last season).

As far as mechanically simple champions: Malzahar Vladimir Kayle might be what you're looking for, also Chogath Heimerdinger Veigar aren't horribly complicated. Pantheon if you want something slightly less meta, and Talon is a good assassin

Swollwonder1 votes

Heimerdinger Mechanically simple takes some getting used to but if you play him right you can almost always get a kill when the jg comes to gank you. Its ridiculous.

Earl Eulrich2 votes

heimer might just be one of the hardest champs to play well actually. Just because he´s ridiculous if the opponent doesn´t know how to play against him doesn´t make him a simple champ.

Swollwonder2 votes

Mechanically simple. i mean you just press Q. the trick is learning when to press q which you can learn within 7ish games. It didnt take long for me to pick him up. Put two turrets down, reserve the third, Move up when you have all three up.

Earl Eulrich1 votes

it´s not as simple, his e is very crucial in lots of matchups (not to mention teamfights) and it´s one of the hardest skills to use correctly in the game + using the proper ult is seemingly impossible for 95% of all heimers you run into. He´s simple if you only use half of his kit properly, but that only works vs people that don´t know him (so you might get to plat+ with it actually, as ~90% of the players don´t have much experience with heimer).

Voluug132 votes

You need to know how to put the turrets. You cant simply stack them or they will die to AoE. You need to keep you lane is a fragile state of pushed but too pushed. If you make a bad decision, you are dead. Your E wont save you. Burn flash and R-E or die.

T RexHasTinyArms1 votes

Why do you say heimer is too complex? I lean toward mechanically simple stuff, and I love heimer. His e can be hard to land, but half the time it is best used as a stun dropped on the champ that gap closes to you and then it is easy to land bc you know where they are going (hint it has a yellow Afro).

Malz seems like a good option, but I hate trying to land that silence, then again that might be bc I smart cast everything.

Aheadatime1 votes

I main malz and he isn't exactly simple. There's alot of mana management and passive management, and it's easy for him to get ganked on. Yes, your spells are pretty straight forward, but that isn't what makes somebody simple. Also his ult doesn't do much if you don't combo it properly, which can be walked away from.

My vote would be on lux. Her spells are super simple, her passive is super simple, and her teamfight is super simple. Simple kit, simple spells, but it's what you do with it. Side note - she's one of the only mid laners I take TP with because of her utility. Back at 6 if reasonable, buy, then TP bot lane for double kill. Snare, slow, laser, 3-man shield, these are all great things for a gank.

Earl Eulrich1 votes

lux is incredible dependant on skillshot accuracy though, simple as she may be.

Malz is a lot harder to master, sure - but the basics can´t miss at least.

Cyber Mxlly1 votes

Ryze if you use quickcast and dont get too thrown off by how quickly his spells go back up

Lugg1 votes

Lulu isn't too hard. You can CC anyone who dives you, she has good waveclear, and her ult is great for teamfights.

XeroKimo1 votes

Ryze He is totally simple an totally not op at the moment and can definitely go mid

Dunkrius2g1 votes

Singed Ur name says it all C:

Supp Hero1 votes

Brand is decent, not the easiest but not the hardest either.

I wish Anivia did a little more damage or less mana cost, then she would be viable mid.

Llanite1 votes

You need an AD/tanky champ if your top decides to play a squishy. Pantheon is preferable but swain or Vlad will do.

You also need a 4th which is a burst assassin if they run 1 tank+4 squishy team. Pantheon fits this role too which is why I highly recommend him, Talon and Kat are good alternatives.

DrNova1 votes

Ahri. She's all poke, a mean charm, her ult great to engage or run away. Get item 3285 and item 3023 for even more speed and the acive from twin shadows. In lane you work that poke on occasion, focus on farm. Wait for the enemy to mess up, hit a charm Q W and back off, unless they low and you can finish em.
Teamfights just poke throw Orbs and charms into the pile.

Super mobile and once you figure her out, its really hard to get caught

TheTurboedSloth1 votes

Annie obviously Fizz Easy MALZ free kills all day AP Ezreal just fire your ult at people who are backing with no hp for free kills(Get that Rylai) TF Just work on your card timing HE NUKES HARD Ryze Load up and spam away ALL THE MID LANERS ARE PRETTY EASY

TheTurboedSloth1 votes

ON A SIDE NOTE, Best mid you can pick right now is veigar im getting 1k+ AP every game and can nuke the enemy team tanks If you want to win just pick him into an akali or something that can not touch you and its freelo.

ItsGflow1 votes

Ahri and Anivia are both fairly simple to use and can do very well.

Arsames1 votes

No mech0nix champs? Malzahar.

Nymeara1 votes

Anivia is bae <3

I'm going to suggest Xerath. Very straightforward - passive makes it so you can spam to your hearts content in lane, all of his abilities do one thing and serve obvious functions. He's easy to farm with, is very devastating in teamfights, and lacks any sort of mechanically intensive "combos" - he's just all positioning and aiming. Basically, if you have a good grasp of positioning, Xerath is easy to pick up.

I'm going to be honest and say that while Malz is pretty straightforward in lane (EWR + ignite = delete lane opponent), teamfighting with him is insanely difficult. You basically stun yourself while ulting, and it's very hard to get in a position where you can damage valuable targets without getting CC'd and killed. Last hitting with Malz also takes some getting used to, and it's hilarious to see inexperienced Malz players miss whole waves because they think that their E is somehow just going to automatically secure every minion.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Xerath honestly has very few disadvantageous lanes. He has the range and waveclear to just safely clear out the minions if he feels he's at a disadvantage, and can use his range and spell spam to oppress most everyone else. If I'm picking mid and don't know who the enemy mid is, Xerath is who I pick 90% of the time because he's just that safe. Honestly I feel like he only really consistently loses to LeBlanc because her threat range is like half the lane.

DanofDemacia1 votes

Ahri for the mobility and lissandra cuz a built in zhonyas is fucking great. Also don't choose lux ever she's not good in this meta.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Not good in this meta? Yea right! I've been playing Lux more than most others these days mid lane and destroying just about everyone. She is good in this meta.

Saianna1 votes

Try assassins maybe? With every patch Riot is trying to tell us that mid is for assassins only

I'd go for LB, Kat or Teemo.

Why? LB/Kat can really make enemy midlaners life misarable. Has awesome roaming potential.

And Why Teemo? Cause he's teemo. No explanations needed.

SnugglePuggle941 votes

Lux is very simple but powerful. I wrecked an Azir early this morning going 25-2-25. Corki is not that hard, tho his Q can be hard to hit as its easy to dodge.

Drunk Rummate1 votes

Use this and pick something from a high tier that you think you can learn easily.

Jungle Lux God1 votes

I personally would recommend Lux, as she's fairly easy to play, and her skill set has quite a bit of overlap with Morgana's tools, most notably having similar snares.

Teachan1 votes

If you can figure out how to get through the level 1-5, diana is pretty fun and simple.

But at 6...well: Did you hit them with q? If yes, and they aren't near their turret, ult to them and press w, e and r again. Are they dead? if yes, good job! If not, they probably flashed so you'll get em next time champ

SociopathFriend1 votes

KogMaw is pretty much midlane 101- clear waves, farm up, poke the enemy Velkoz is similar, but requires a bit more skillshot finesse Xerath Ziggs simple enough, poke them, kill them
