Ranked Needs a Higher Bar

People can get into ranked too easily, and it needs to be adjusted. My ADC last night didn't know Braum's passive, and the Jungler - who fed mind you - lost her mind because "Kayle won't group." Decided to farm jungle all game, type only in caps, and repeatedly say "MUST PUSH TOP" which running up there and farming minions while 2 enemies killed her.

Idk why Riot refuses to clean this shitstorm up. In Ranked? WTF is the point of ranked if you're not out there making sure people are stupendous douchebags?

You're in Bronze 4. That sort of stuff is going to happen. The only thing you can control is your own performance, so figure out ways you can make your own play better.

That Jinx was brand new to the game and had just never played with a Braum before. She got her account to 30 and jumped into ranked, which is a bad idea but probably didn't have anyone to tell her that. I didn't either, and I initially got placed bronze 3.

Ok? But why is she allowed to? I'm saying - there needs to be a bar that prevents these people from doing that.

How, exactly, would that be implemented? Practically. I, for instance, have a smurf I just leveled to 30. I know how to play the game, so I'm going to jump into ranked with it. The bar you're talking about would stop new lvl 30 accounts from playing ranked, which would be obnoxious to smurfs. Even new accounts supposedly have some game experience with leveling their accounts to 30. Usually, though, they are bad. Which is why they are placed in bronze with the rest of the lower-performing players. Get out of bronze and silver if you don't want to deal with it.

You get, though, that I lost a game because of these people which only keeps me in Bronze. Your argument is cyclical.

Yeah, you lost a game. Losing a game due to these people isn't really any different than losing it to afk or trolls, which are just as unavoidable (but are reportable) as people with low skill level. Difference is that trolls and afkers last well beyond your elo, while the lower skill level hopefully doesn't. You win some, you lose some. Some losses are out of your control, but most aren't. Focus on improving your own performance, not complaining about things that don't have a practical fix.

I agree with you.

but

You have a better chance of getting a new player on the enemy team, than you do getting 1 on your team because you are on it. So guaranteed 1 person to not be new.

EDIT: even though kayle, trynd, yorick, yasuo sion etc etc etc can all split push very well, keep in mind that grouping CAN swing a fight in your teams favor if done at the right time. Just as many " im playing nasus i only split" people as there are new players.

EDIT2: to go on with last point, kayles ult on one of your carries can completely flip a team fight.

What's that got to do with anything? If I'm a total dipshit I shouldn't be allowed to play ranks either. It's about the quality of the game, not my ELO.

Noone mentioned ELO.

What do you mean "no one" we're the only two in the thread?

PlsTouchMeGently1 votes

He obviously means that he said nothing about your ELO; stop being pedantic.

RookPusher2 votes

No, but the argument about "you're just as likely to have a troll" is because people are ranting about ELO hell. I'm not. If you aren't familiar with the game, it's a disservice to all players to allow them in ranked.

PlsTouchMeGently1 votes

How would you gauge game familiarity? I could just as easy say everyone in Bronze shouldn't be allowed to play ranked cause they don't understand the game at the level plat players do, and it would be just as restrictive as what you're proposing.
