so im playing a normal draft right, and i pick shyvana. now before every game i tell people "i am not going tanky shyvana" just to warn them so that if they want tanks, they should pick them. so i tell this team that, and i get a torrent of abuse from last pick shaco(who could've gone a tank but didn't.

so i give up first blood, and my team is on my case saying "wow pro shyv" and "i told you she would feed"

fast foreward to 20 minutes, i'm 7/3 have 3 turrets taken, and 180 cs, and all around carrying my team due to my "retarded ad shyvana build". my team is handing over kills because they fight 4v5, meh nbd i tell them next time to wait for me. my adc and jungle both gang up on me and tell me if we lose it's all on me because im not a tank, as i take inhibitor turret and the inhibitor by myself. i then proceed to carry the teamfights with my massive damage, and still, not a word of apology or even a thank you. everyone just acts like i had nothing to do with anything and that they carried. meanwhile i ended game with 5 turrets taken, most damage to champs, most farm, most gold. i even get called a noob in post game chat.

seriously, what is wrong with this community. very quick to bash, but won't ever admit they're wrong or even apologize after sending a torrent of abuse my way.

Only thing you need to realize is the need to bully, flame, down-talk, condescend and so on, stems from insecurity. For instance, if I were ADC and I lose lane because I misplay or get outplayed, I will feel embarrassed. If I cannot cope with the fact that we might lose because of me, or even worse, the idea that I am not perfect (OH NO :O ), I will try to redirect my insecure feelings toward my support or my jungler, blaming them. This way, the other players in the game might overlook the fact that I messed up, and blame other people, so that I still seem perfect, masking the insecurity and overall feeling of embarrassment.

While yes, the community on average is rather immature, realizing why your teammates act out the way they do can sort of rationalize it.

Regardless, let me reassure you that they aren't attacking your personally, they just direct to the easiest source to vent their frustration (non-meta builds or champions and such). To everyone reading this reply: YOU'RE PLAYING WITH AND AGAINST REAL PEOPLE, SO TREAT THEM WITH RESPECT. DON'T SAY SOMETHING ON THE INTERNET THAT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SAY TO THEIR FACES.

So that's pretty much the reason why people bitch at others on the internet, so let's look at solutions or ways to mitigate this:

easiest thing is to mute your team :P I recommend this to a lot of people since your team is just going to piss you off and as a result, you become tilted and play worse.

Another thing would be instead of "telling" them you're going offensive Shyvanna, "ask" them if you can go offensive Shyvanna. Now, this actually doesn't change a thing because you will go off-shyv regardless, but it shows your team that you're open to their opinions, instead of approaching the game selfishly. (just a little psychology, but it can actually change the tempo of the game and potentially make your team chat a much more enjoyable, less-tense environment).

You say that it stems from insecurity, losing lane, ect.. but today I played ADC Sivir with a support Morgana.

Morgana went to the upper bot lane bush, closest to the enemy side, and goes "Sivir, get up here, now. This is where all the action is." all demanding before minions even spawned. I knew I had to stay back to be able to farm properly and whatnot. After I said no, that I didn't want to go turret diving early and I needed to start my farm, they say "Well I'm not supporting you if you're going to be a little bitch about it. I'm playing APC now.", and proceeds to steal every kill with her snare, last hit my minions, and overall be a pain in my ass.

All her flaming and raging started before minions even spawned. There was no way this player felt insecure or embarrassed about losing our lane when the game hadn't even started yet.

It has to do with the player base, it's all reddit knobs with superiority complexes. Google the dunning-kruger effect and you'll understand why no league player ever will ever admit a mistake and believe that they are worthy of challenger if it wasn't for "elo hell". I know this because I do it, and I see the way other people do it, it's not going to change any time soon so the best thing you can do is learn to carry and jsut mute people and be as nice as you can :)

Did you get any honor at the end of the game? I'll be the first (or the second anyway) to admit that I have problems rethinking "trolls" (off-meta builds, instalok, etc), and even more telling them they done good when they carry and/or we win, but I will definitely give honor to such a player if they end up being good.

I personally LOVE people going "off meta". AD shyvana is spooky, so kudos for carrying correctly. My only advice for people is what others say- Most everyone has yet to have their "God Complex" , the idea that they are the IT of everyones world, rearranged to the "Reality Complex". When people flame me for making bad choices, I tell them to trust me. I then proceed to be my normal bubbly, super friendly, happy-go-lucky bff self to everyone. Usually they had so much fun, they ignore my odd picks (rip ap garen).

Off-meta builds can actually be much more effective than the normal ones, if only because people don't react properly. (AP carry Soraka... some day, some day...)

I do Jinx top a lot. ADC's that have HARD cc, not mobility, will do best there. I tried mobility....free week lucian got massacred, tristana was a chew toy...kalista....well....just no.

Can't agree with this more. The meta mostly comes from pros, so it's only things that can work against pros. That leaves out all sorts of things that wouldn't work against actual skilled players, but destroy people who aren't that good at the game and don't pay a lot of attention to their opponents. Nautilus support? Like a Thresh with burst damage and better scaling, and that lantern is useless in soloq. Poppy jungle? Did the Godyr thing almost as well as Udyr (and nobody realized she could do dragon at level 5 last season, unlike Godyr) and then solos the enemy backline lategame. Only real reason not to use odd picks is that the other lanes will often despair and feed even if you win, or just outright troll.

These types of threads are what is wrong with the community. How many games have you played? 100+? How many times have you come to the forums with "OMG such an awesome game, my team mates ROCKED!"? Answer: Probably never.

You want to come here and rage at the "community" for their negativity, your solution to that negativity? Blame the community. You had narrow minded individuals on your team, you told them "I'm not going to build tanky". Why even say anything? Build how you want, play how you want. Unless you are out right troll building, all good.

Having a neighbor whos dog craps on your lawn doesn't mean the City or State are bad, just means your neighbor is an ass that can't keep his dog in check.

Sometimes people just need to vent, and these boards are a good place for a solo-queuer to do it. Sometimes a person just wants another human being to agree with them that yes, that did suck donkey balls. Use this opportunity to see what you can do to make other people's experiences better, instead of dissing OP for being mad because he got matched with the kind of team that tends to make people mad.

The thing that pisses me off is when someone in game will mock your kda in comparison to theirs (Ally or enemy, doesn't matter which) but everyone always just talks about kills and deaths and never assists. So you could be 1/8 to their 5/6 but then you look at assists and see you have 1/8/16 and they have 5/6/2.

As a support main, I can say this is the most frustrating thing in the world.

I've gone and played as Sona and only got 1 kill, maybe 5 deaths.

Assists? Usually when playing Sona I have 20-25+

But in some games I've had people try to report me for feeding because "Sona's 1/5" and totally disregard that it's 1/5/25.

Reminds me of one of my games. my team first picks Garen top. Enemy picks Nasus. I go riven jungle. Now, it's a farm fest top. Nasus of course is more useful. I Gank top literally 5 times, getting a kill 3 of these times. garen also gets ganked, but dies every single time due to a lack of wards. Nasus was 7/3 and garen 2/9, with nasus slightly more farm.

Adc then flames garen for losing so hard (With him not buying wards, first picking garen, etc." What was his reaction? "Well maybe if I got a gank." I literally ganked 5 times. Mid roamed top twice. When I stated I ganked, his response was "When? When I wasn't there? Lol"

Either he had really bad memory lose, or he was too embarrassed to do ananything but flame someone. I'm sure it was the second.

Welcome to league of shitheads, shaco could have easily built tanky i do it all the time if im behind, not to mention ur jungler / mid could have gone a bit beefy just to soak up damage, dont take it so hard. Agreed. I played Braum today (free champ) and I had the least deaths which is 5 , 2 kills, and 18 assists. Yi jung fed 18 kills, and Gragas mid fed 19 (look at my match history if you want). Our ADC Corki made horrible decisions and fed 12 kills I believe. He then says we lost the game because of me, and when we are getting our noxus destroyed yells at my for buying ruby sightstone so early, and the reason we lost was because of me.

Um....ok? It does aggravate me when players like that point the blame, when I haven't even said anything to anyone, and it's CLEAR I didn't screw anything up.

I gave up on the community and went back to all the other games I like and play that don't involve playing with jackasses. For all Riot's talk about the small percent of problem players. Game after game after game sure seemed to show up with 2 trolls. The League community has serious problems that it doesn't seem willing to confront.

I was on an alt that I only play bot games with trying to teach a friend something (he was sitting over my shoulder, wasn't in game with). There was a legit new player in the game and he was doing sorta bad but no worse than any new player would.

The person he was laning with was something like 1/16/1 and WASN'T a new player. Said Player proceeded to start bashing on the new player that was playing Garen, calling him a retard, a noob, and a few other things I shouldn't say on the forums. The guy finally asks him to stop because he is new, he isn't doing it on purpose, so he gets worse.

I finally ask him to cool it, to which a second person on our team tells me to suck a D because shit talking new players is "a league tradition" so they both proceed to just rail this guy, I'm talking elephant on a cat. It was ridiculous.

Poor dude finally just gave up and left the game and I couldn't blame him. This community is effing garbage. People think you should trash talk someone because they are new, even going as far as to say it is "tradition" to do so, just telling someone they are horrible because they are not wrecking in a bot game (think his account was like level 3 so he hadn't played that much.)

Funny thing is, I saw the guy that was screaming at this dude yesterday on that same account, and guess what, he was doing the same thing. Reporting him apparently accomplished nothing and he is still doing it. This is why I don't play as much anymore.

One thing to think about is people always like to blame the person that doesn't follow the meta. So when you're playing something that they already aren't sure won't work, you're going to get picked on if you don't play perfectly. Yes it's dumb but true. (Trinity Force Leblanc works in high elo apparently, but you better bet your team will rage at you if you die once while building this item).

Also, just realize that if you are doing the right thing, then there's no reason to get angry over what your teammates say. If they say something dumb, then just know that you'll eventually reach higher elo than them due to your game knowledge (and sense of decency!).

AD Shyvana sounds pretty fun...

It's not the target's fault, and the target is not the problem. I'm saying the target has a solution. Two of them, actually, The first is the aforementioned mute, and the second is simply not giving a damn when players are being pants-on-head retarded. If they're too dumb to recognize that you pulled your weight and know what you're doing, their insults are as worthless as they are.

The reason I sound entirely unsympathetic to the OP is because I deal with the same shit that they do, except without needing to make a forum rant about everyone and their cat not being very nice on the internet.

Lol. I unfortunately got stuck in a lobby of silvers when I am B1. Whenever I made a small misplay or my supp brand took a kill, they would just say, "This is why you're in bronze". Whole game I got flamed for my rank, when I just wanted to play a fun game.

Granted we were sucking but he just didn't get that it was for the lolz, it wasn't even a normal.

That's human nature honestly, this game just does a really good job distilling it. And good luck getting a troll to reconsider their anger once they've decided to hate you, they can always make something up. There's this series on youtube somewhere where a diamond player smurfs and carries with troll picks (Rengar adc/Garen Mid?Nami jungle) and a couple of his teammates just rage at him all game even though he's carrying singlehandedly. The botlane tries to tower dive level 3 and gets double killed? "gg we can't win with this stupid garen mid".

I played a bot game recently to investigate the legends I've been hearing about Soto Tristana (132% AS from Q is ridiculous) and laned with a Jinx who had never played the game before. Ran straight into the turret level 1, all those new player antics, and still spent the game raging and telling everyone else how bad they were, even though everyone else was 25/0 or so as is typical for bot games. Doesn't matter how well you do, if someone really wants to be angry they'll just make shit up to avoid feeling like they were wrong.

I'm not really sure why you'd do AD Shyv (tank shyv gets kited hard enough, AD just sounds miserable) but I could totally see a competent player solo-carrying the game with it just by splitting or picking. It's a shame so many people in this game get uncomfortable and throw a fit when they see something they've never seen before.

Lol i have a similar story.

Started game as adc and with a massive lag

I had a heim support(how the hell is that viable) who stole cs and kills.

There team was much stronger

The only reason why we won was because i split pushed like a pro getting my self the much needed cs, taking turrets and successfully keeping inhibitors down... by doing so i usually died(my ending score was 3/14/7 which i can't be proud of that, but i did my job).

I finally got both top and bot inhib's down and i was just about to finished mid before heim and our jg(olaf) tried to trash talk me.

We won game because of winions and once we got in lobby the enemy team tried to congratulated me for my tactics. i took them happily and watched as my allies tried to trash me once again.

I honored my opponent because in the end they did what i least expected them to.

The funny thing is all of my team mates had gold/silver borders while I'm stuck bronze(slowly climbing out).

i have to agree that riot needs to punish afk, but toxic/language is almost worse and is far more common. it is is the only cause of "honest" afk(rage quit). other wise its server, wifi, or cpu related afk(which in most cases can't be helped).
