Every single time i try and play this champion. Riven

I get counterpicked, in normals? IN NORMALS!? I DON"T PLAY THIS CHAMPION TO BE A DIAMOND SMURF IN RANKED I PLAY HER CAUSE SHE'S FUN!! Jesus christ i don't want to go into another game and have to sit through 20 minutes of complete uselessness while a, for some reason, DIAMONd GAREN/PANTHEON MAIN is in my game with me and hates riven, litterally have had it happen every single time it's a pantheon or garen, they say "I just want to make your day bad for playing riven.". Why, how come every time i want to play her, i end up with someone like that. Not to mention the cheeky freaking face they have every single time they "Beat" a riven "Main", it's not that big of an accomplishment, i can literally go into a game right now and if i see an enemy riven i'm pretty dang sure that if their not boxbox i'll be fine.

Stop taking your anger for the champion out on the people who actually play this game because they enjoy it.

Riven does get counterpicked a lot. She also gets picked a lot. It's really handy to have a riven counter in your champ pool for top laners. That's why.

Your question makes me wonder, what is it about riven that makes her have so many hard matchups?

To be fair, there are a lot of really hard matchups for Riven that be can used to counter.

Poppy, Kennen, Jayce, Renekton, Trundle, Olaf, Darius, Quinn and the occasional Lulu top to name a few.

Just gotta learn to play her despite that.

Yeah i just wish i didn't have to fight against one or the other every damned game, it makes you feel useless when using the champion if you litterally can't do anything because you got countered so hard.

As long as you're good at the champion counters don't matter.

When a champion has a 60% winrate against another, counter's do matter.

But this is you against the player, not all the x champion players against x champion players. The better player will win.

garen isnt even a counter to riven anymore. the matchup is with 52% winrate in her favour.

the q animation is so slow that in the time between the start and when the attack connects, riven can either stun cancel it with her w before it hits and walk away, or dash out of it with her e while absorbing the damage.

Counterpick barely have relevance in this game. There are only very few hardcounters and softcounters can be worked around.

Riven counters Garen if you know how to play her well. You have more range than he does so you should win every trade.

However most Rivens below Diamond don't really use spacing correctly, which is why many low ELO Rivens think Garen counters her.

I agree on the Pantheon point though. Who plays Pantheon in norms, come on...

nobody likes playing against riven, so yeah you're gonna get counterpicked. as somebody mentioned it, blind picks for that
