Why i stopped playing ranked
preface: aka skip down in post season 3 i played into silver 1... i did not remotely deserve it... i was trash season 4... i was demoted to silver 4 on preaseason... i then got demoted to bronze 2... before coming back to silver 2 the highest i had ever been season 5,6, and 7 i was demoted to bronze each season climbing out to silver
season 5 i quit for 8 months when laning nid was destroyed and came back for challenger nid in season 6 season 6 i again climbed to silver but boycotted ranked becuase of boosted que season 7 i had internet issues for the vast majority of the season starting in april preventing me from playing league in general but i did play some unranked but i didnt climb to silver 4 before then end of the season and in season 8 i finally wasn't demoted to bronze
and had once again planned on getting gold..
but again i have stopped.
and this time it isn't because my internet, it isnt entirely because riot fucked up the jungle
i have stopped playing ranked.. becuase... it isnt fun.
do i have it within my power to win games? yes and can i even sway the outcome of games.. sometimes yeah
but the fast majority of the games i have no effect on... i am just along there for the ride,, sure im playing... but the game was decided in champ select based on who got what.. or even BEFORE based on matchmaking alone. by the time i GET into the game... matches have all but been decided before minions even spawn
and yeah there are the games where i spend 50 min for a long hard fought victory... only to get into the next game and have some idoit on my team feed 15 kills in 8 min becuase they were a first time ranked player.
and sure i get the random wins for no reason based on rng as well.
but the point is... its donest feel good to win a game based on a 4v5 rng vs a trash player. it feels good to win a game against a skill opponent who isnt "fed" but has equal gold and game knowledge". and its HORRIBLE to lose a game becuase of rng.
so no matter what.. in about 95% of my games the game is not even... its one sides becuase of matchmaking.. broken champions.. whether its my side or thiers.. but here is the thing... in unranked... it donest matter... i can still have FUN because, i know the win or loss means nothing. i have fun PLAYING.. but in ranked winning DOES mean something. so when i lose for no reason.. its not a "oh well that donest matter" i had fun.. it's aggravating because there was literally jack shit i could have done to stop it.
now the champion balance problem is from the balance team... that isnt an easy fix.
but what IS an easy fix... is the matchmaking. because i don't care if your going to be faker in 2 years,, if u have no idea how to play the game NOW YOU DON'T DESERVED TO BE IN SILVER.
if riot would take the new players out of silver and STOP PUTTING NEW PLAYERS IN SILVER!! then those of in silver could actaully have games that arn't completely decided by which team gets the complete noob. its already bad enough we have to deal with the balance team. but having matchmaking decide the game before we even enter champ select was the final nail in the coffin.
i play league because i want EVEN matches? i LITERALLY cannot remember the last time i lost my lane to becuase i got "outplayed" and not becuase a player got fed off a noob on my team or played a completely busted champion.
maybe its becuase i have been playing for over 5 years...and i played a very limited champion pool all of which i have ehigh mastery on..
and i play jungle and support... but even so. i dont get the feeling of an "even" match almost ever... i think once or twice this year i had it.. and it was the best feeling ever... even ranked games i dont care if a lose if i get an actaul EVEN match...
but that happens so infrequently... once or twice every 50-200 games that it makes play "ranked" toxic to deal with at least in silver
