Let me make this crystal clear to all of you who are new to ADC or are just ignorant

Unless you are Kalista (this champion -> Kalista ), who is arguably the best ADC to have boots on with high attack speed, #1) DO NOT EVER GRAB TIER 2 BOOTS AS A FIRST ITEM #2) DO NOT GET ATTACK SPEED BEFORE DAMAGE

Sure you may work well with some attack speed items (mainly the zeal ones), but if you just get attack speed with no damage, you will lose every trade, then the lane, then the game. Especially if you have an engage (not high damage) support like Nautilus Leona Blitzcrank who can't really make up for your lack of damage since they offer nothing to you in terms of defense (champions like ThreshBraum Taric can at least lantern you out of a bad situation and/or shield you from / boost resistance to some of the incoming damage). But still do not use this as an excuse to build attack speed first.

Now, you do not necessarily need to finish a full damage item (though some recommend you do). You need to at least get a damage first. item 1038 item 3134 item 3144 are the 3 items I would say you should always look to get first (depending on your first damage item). Then get your boots and attack speed, or finish the damage item. If you are building item 3153. Get item 3144 before item 1043 because not only does it have sustain and damage, but it also has a useful active. Sure item 1043 has 15 damage on autos, but you are not dealing 100% of your damage through only auto attacks. Even on Twitch Vayne Jinx who like to have a lot of DPS over raw damage. Also, last I checked, 25 AD is better than 15 damage in at least the early game when no one has any defensive items, though I would say it always is better.

Do not give the enemy a free win because you did not build any damage.

Bad advice. Situationally, it's actually better to rush zeal item first on some adc's like Vayne, Cait etc

I don't mind completing a zeal item first, but I always will advise getting some sort of damage item like item 1038 before it is finished so you are not just hitting with feathers. On Jinx and Cait, depending on how I am doing, I usually grab a item 1038 first then item 3085. I always would advise damage over crit since 40 damage is guaranteed 100% of the time, where as 30% crit chance is 70% likely of not happening at all in a fight.

I hate this. . . The only thing worse than AS first is double zeal items first.

The only thing I'm not sure I agree with is item 3144 before item 1043. Cutlass is fairly cost ineffective while recurve is not really, so building item 1053 and then item 1043 can be good. Though you would never build item 1043 before item 1053 .

Lol, exactly what I was talking about. Look, my AAs are super fast, and crit for double damage! (Double of 40, 80 damage on crit.)

I can see that working out some times.

But it is only 1500g for cutlass, 200g more than B.F. Sword. While yes recurve is 500g less, it only builds from 2 item 1042 which give almost nothing in terms of offensive power. 12% is basically unnoticeable at early levels. Cutlass is item 1053 (900g) plus item 1036 (350g). That is not the most difficult build path either.

But yeah, always get damage first. Especially if it has a secondary effect like lifesteal.

Maybe item 1053 item 1036 then item 1043. Cutlass I don't find to be that worth the upgrade because all it gives is a mediocre passive. I generally don't complete it until I'm completing kings, unless it's convenient.

It is an active, and while not anything overpoweringly great, it is a nice 100 magic damage and a 25% slow for 2 seconds which can defiantly help set up a gank or counter a tower dive.

I just want to say something, many times people rush boots when they feel like there behind and they need to purchase a "complete" item quick. If you fall behind badly in the early game I recommend just getting a second doran's blade

So would I if you must buy something. Though I would usually just grab item 1036 and 2 item 2003 since I can then build it into something and have some sustain.

What is this? Season 4? Never buy a second Doran's blade. Either build an AS item, a ward and pots, or a Long sword and some pots.

Wrong, against someone like Thresh or Morgana who their main engage tool is landing a skillshot having T2 means faster repositioning around minions. Also item 3047 grants you a very easy lane and easy trading since you can just walk up to them and auto while dodging their skillshot (like Sivir Q), but you need to have a lead on the lane to do it for this reason.
