"then why aren't you playing it for freelo" is an extremely dumb statement.

Marshbouy··140 votes·5,654 views

People say this more than they should. "If Cho'Gath is so OP, why aren't you playing him for the freelo???" "If Caitlyn is so OP, why aren't you playing her for the freelo???" "If (insert op champion) is so OP, why aren't you playing them/it for the freelo?"

Maybe people are one tricking a certain champion. Maybe people don't like playing that champion's class. Maybe people don't like playing the champion.

Saying "HUR DUR IT'S NOT OP CAUSE UR NOT PLAYING IT" is very stupid.

EDIT: Freelo is not "playing that champion to learn it's strengths and weaknesses" freelo is "they are undeniably busted and I will spam them in ranked to try and climb the ladder faster". It is a huge difference. EDIT2: Yes I am silver 5. I don't play ranked because I cannot stand the environment. My ranking is irrelevant. EDIT3: My least favorite thing about getting to hot is how many people throw really shitty arguments at your post.

"Because I don't want elo, I want fun."

NiceTryVi30 votes

I mean, i also want elo, but I do want to have fun while getting it. That gets harder and harder with each patch though. :/

Divewing13 votes

Similar, but I don't want to sell my pride for it.

The whole thing is basically another way of bringing up the old "end vs means" debate

NiceTryVi4 votes

Ive been one-tricking Vi for near on 3 years now with about 750k mastery and over 1k games on her, I bet. Not gonna succumb to meta fever and jsut play FotM, because I enjoy playing her, and alot. I hate though that because riot wants LC$ big play$ champions, they overbuff certain champs instead of trying for balance.

NiceTryVi2 votes

Yes....That was my point. They keep Lee, Grag, and Elise too strong, and it keeps a lot of other champions from seeing the light of day. I said I keep player her because i like her, and I am not going to succumb to FotM champs.

I am always feeling like when a champion gets often picked in LCS and stuff they become only a hollow shell of theirselves afterwards... I hate that...

Do they actually do that?

junglerboy162 votes

That's what 75% of the tweaks and buffs were in this last patch, they picked a grab bag of champs they want to see and buffed them randomly right on the Worlds prelims patch.

Imperial Japan1 votes

What rank are you? If you're skilled enough you probably could reach really high up in the ladder with Just Vi.

NiceTryVi1 votes

highest ive been was G2 last season, but i haven't put much effort in ranked at all this season, im G5. At my peak last season i was probably one of the best Vi players in NA, but my macro play, like rotations and stuff, is shit.

WrÆth1 votes

No offense, but I highly doubt that you were "one of the best Vi players in NA". If you were, you would at least have a 60% winrate. A challenger player (doesn't even have to be a jungler) could probably, if they so choosed, play vi for a week and probably get better results than you are.

NiceTryVi1 votes

Last season, at my prime, I did. I had over a 60% winrate with a near 4 KDA over some 300 games or so, and near the end of the season, just started losing. Don't really know why, but my winrate tanked. Don't know why, don't know how. Kinda pissed me off that I didn't even know why I was losing or how to stop it either...

WrÆth1 votes

Over a 60% win rate in gold. Players such as Super Metroid, XJ9, and the other Vi legends were able to pull off upwards of 60% winrates in Master-Challenger elo.

Getting a 60% winrate with Vi in gold elo is not every impressive whatsoever as her kit is specifically DESIGNED to exploit the weaknesses of players at that level. She is like this until like Masters up. Even in diamond she is still very abusable.

NiceTryVi1 votes

That's nice honey. Please, lecture me incorrectly some more about my own main, I would love to hear it. Her massively abusable nature certainly shows up strong in her below 50% winrate and the fact that shes overall one of the worst junglers right now. And as for Vi legends, Metroid is the only one. He has like 6 or 7 other accounts, every high elo Vi player is Metroid. And yeah, over a 60% winrate in gold. I was only in the top 15% of players. I have had multiple friends on my college's team as well, D2, 1, master and challenger, tell me my Vi play is some of the best they ever saw, so yeah, I was one of the best in NA.

i agree but if you ask for nerfs to something that isnt as obvious as cho, you should at least play it once to see if you arent bullshitting xd

for example i thought diana was op and has her shield up every time early game, then i played her myself and realized it has 10 seconds cooldown hehe

Or how Zed's shadow has a 22 second cooldown yet people insist he has the best poke and waveclear in the game

Dataless22 votes

I brought that up a few years ago when Zed hate threads were all the rage, it's astonishing how big an impact psychological fear plays into Zed lanes. People get so scared that even when they SEE his shadow go on CD, they cower in fear at their turret and refuse to go aggro and punish Zed, despite having a clear window to do so.

Squey8 votes

To be fair, alot of the non meta mid laners cant abuse zeds shadow cooldown very well. And while his shadow might be down, his q isnt and it hurts quite a bit.

Or how Zed's shadow has a 22 second cooldown yet people insist he has the best poke and waveclear in the game

that sounds like a stretch for sure though. Honestly zed is alot like yasuo. Everyone hates something differant about him. My personal hate against him is an instant, skill shot, decent range teleport that has basically no animation if used immediately. You have to auto minions sometimes, and sometimes u want to auto zed but whenever he wants he can instantly do unavoidable dash/ teleport > instant unavoidable E > AA > Hard to miss point blank Q > ignite at lv 3 and thats about 85% of my hp in .33 seconds

Lit Corn3 votes

true , but when he has it up and jsut a serrated dirk he can do ridiculous dmges and put someone to half hp in one combo , also , his W comes back for every wave so its a good timing , but the higher elo you get the more u get punished , zed has a ridiculously high ban / pick rate between bronze and gold ( almsot 80 % if you combine both ! ) but when ure plat diam or higher its less than 20 % . just the champ is hard to counter mostly due to lethality buffs , cause before he was really ult dependant and items like zhonya ACTUALLY countered him , but ppl wont zhonya for a simple shadow combo . i myself main zed since the end of season 4 and back in 7.13 or so i was always calculating my dmges and everything to burst ppl i won lane really often ( around 90 % of the time i'd say ) but its cause im one trick zed and my average kda was like 15/5 or so when most ppl i met where having like 5 kills and struggle to win lane often misplaying and not killing ennemies, but right now every zed player i see either if he is ahead or behind is ridiculously strong when ugot that item 3147 item 3142 u have insane burst i saw a 2/5 zed with 150 cs in 30 min one shoting the ennemy adc without even R up ... like the champ still has some counterplay , he hasnt a great late game and clear windows so you know when to trade or not to , but man whenever he has all his cds up , either you chose to use both sums and ult to escape , or you die , even under your tower ( well at least if he times his spells correctly ) . but it is easier to do than before cause you have ridiculous dmges now , its less punishing for you if you dont place your shadows well and only hit one hsuriken or even miss all of them cause you still will have some decent burst anyway and there is not the ennemy squishies can do for this . the real issue with zed right now is that he doesnt need to snowball that much to be strong . so the tactic to jsut gank him early to put him behind and cy@ doenst really work anymore exept if your midlane keeps solo killing him after that . but luckily zed teamfight isnt the greatest and if ppl know how to peel he shoudlnt be too much of a pb later on in the game . but daaaamn his laning phase is strong af .

Durzaka5 votes

I mean, for a melee assassin his wave cleave is pretty strong.

But yeah, 22 second CD on a poke combo.

ninjaroxas7 votes

ya but its a very powerful poke if he lands it after his first back, doesnt matter to much if its 22 seconds if he halfs you

MagikarpIsBoss5 votes

Zed Qs are pretty easy to dodge. Most of the time they are predictable, and after a while of the specific player throwing them you can see a pattern and dodge it that way. However, the poke does do a lot of damage if he hits EVERYTHING. But that shouldnt happen since its easy to play around.

"OMG LEBLANC IS BROKEN XD 70% OF MY HEALTH WITH A SINGLE CHAIN AT LV 3 LOL SO UNHEALTHY"

Meanwhile I'm there with my full combo + ignite hoping to kill someone, because once you proc sigil you can just go afk for 5s since your damage is non existent without your passive.

Fisher No Chains2 votes

It takes around 7 seconds to kill someone with LB with even gold/levels. 7 seconds.

Unless you're 4/0 in lane, I doubt you can 100-0 someone with a null-magic mantle.

LB in 2k17.

Etheręal11 votes

That's what you get for having a bullshit chain that's even impossible to flash out of, i suppose.

Fisher No Chains8 votes

On behalf of the whole LB mains community I swear, we'd give half of the chain range up to get some damage back on W.

MagikarpIsBoss9 votes

I wouldnt mind that. There are so many times that I think im able to flash out of the chain range, and then my flash still keeps me in range. I dont play against lb too much, so im not completely used to the range.

Gibberwatt2 votes
Andrey03451 votes

There is not too much difference between playing strong meta champions and normal balanced picks. You still can't solo carry games, so it's just some advantage + you always want to have advantage the game allows, no? That's what meta is for.

The Leo Cat2 votes

I don't know man.

I'll happily follow the Meta if it means that there is an understanding between players who do not know each other or have any sort of trust. Such as how lanes are normally set up. Because everyone is on the same page here.

But choosing a champion because it gives you a massive advantage over someone else? That doesn't seem like fun to me, nor is it really flexing your skill. To me it just seems more fun to kick someone's ass with a champion that's not in the current meta or seen as incredibly strong because of his/her items or recent buffs.

Andrey03451 votes

massive advantage

you sure it's MASSIVE advantage? I think it isn't that game-changing. Like there are no clearly broken champions in meta right now.

Saying "HUR DUR IT'S NOT OP CAUSE UR NOT PLAYING IT" is very stupid.

Since the beginning of time, people always looking for easy way out.

People change their mains from patch to patch, from buff to buff. Most people chasing those buffs because they don't know better. Most people will always chose op champions, because they are going to have easy time getting what they want.

If coding mistake happens, and champion with 00.01% pick gets to oneshot trough the whole game, doesn't matter how geared you are,you would have 99.99% people playing that champion, and defending it on the forums, like they have been using it since they started playing LOL.

It was always like that,in every single game.

WoW,mage gets icelane buff,it does 30% of your hp,next thing you know, everyone plays mage.

GW2 Scrapper gets buffed. His hammer is OP and oneshots people, got easy time doing 1vs5,next thing you know, every other player you see plays scrapper.Once he got nerfed, you see no scrapper in weeks.

When you complain about same those classes who got buff, same those people who kept dying to same that class, until they leveled one themselves, keep laughing at you for not being able to kill either (mage or scrapper)

Same goes here.If it happens some champion has great damage, and you complain about it,only negative comments you are going to see are from same those people who main that champion.

ModCaptainMårvelous3 votes

Also that doesn't necessarily mean you know how to play said champion, even if they're strong. Playing Caitlyn is radically different if your ADC pool (for example) consists of short-range and speedy characters like Vayne or Lucian.

TiltoverEnforcer2 votes

I don't think people say that to mean "It's not OP because you're not playing it," they say it to mean "it's OP, but you are able to take advantage of it, so why don't you?"

While I agree with your statements, I don't like playing certain champions that may be considered OP (cough cough Zac), so I don't. I prefer to ban them until they get fixed.
