Jayce actually has an answer to both dashes if played well. Sure, vs a bad Jayce, Renekton will do just fine, but if both players are well versed, Jayce will win for long enough to get 1-2 items and pressure the rest of the map.

Basically how the trades work is whenever Renekton dashes you switch into hammer stance and use your E and knock Renekton away. And if Renekton dashes again you Q W onto him then you switch to ranged stance and E Q AND HE JUST GETS ABSOLUTELY OBLITERATED. iT'S NOT EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE. I WIN THIS MATCH UP EVERY TIME I PLAY AS JAYCE

Playing smart and getting ganks is not a good matchup, it just is a well played matchup.

Jayce vs Renekton is a good matchup for Jayce.

many of those champions can beat Jayce, though. Malphite is unkillable after one armor item, Fizz can all-in Jayce pretty easily, same for Wukong, Pantheon can poke Jayce to oblivion, and Cho'Gath will just outsustain Jayce. Many of those champions will also outscale Jayce easily. Examples include Jax and Kayle. Many of those champions are also unviable top regardless, examples include Blitzcrank and Braum.

His kit doesnt appear to have any counterplay so I expect him to be nerfed. I just hope he isnt gutted and then left in an unplayable state

I always do ok with Sion

But that's because i can stun him during his gapclose with Q to stop his engage and burst

Besides that im too beefy to burst anyway

i can poke him back just as hard with E, meanwhile i have more sustain, especially if i build some which i always do

And he can't knock me away when i use my R to engage, which is just so nice during a gank, R into Q and hes dead

So maybe try Sion into him always works for me so might just work for u guys too

Gangplank beating jayce lmao. Jayce is one of the few real hardcounters if jayce isn't braindead. You just shit on him from level 1 on.

Why is there this stupid mentality that you have to fight? jayce can't shove waves to the tower early without burning his entire mana pool, and that's gangplank's only real weakness in lane. He literally just farms and outscales jayce with free gold and waveclear. After 20-25 minutes, gangplank is better than jayce, and consequently beats him. Gangplank also has ranged farm, so jayce can't just completely deny him farm.

This is the same mentality that makes people think fiora counters pantheon because he has a stun she can parry lmao.

He's slightly overturned with his numbers but his early game was always maybe the best in the game in terms of laning.

This early game meta helps him out more than his current strength IMO. Tanks are strong versus Jayce but tanks also suck now because they don't get the time to scale.

Late game atm is basically unviable with current game times, where Jayce is a terrible champion, just look at his win rate over game length (it drops almost 15%). At this stage of the game your EQ does very little damage to champions, your dive doesn't kill, and you have no way out once you commit and you deal mediocre AA damage at that point.

I got destroyed in lane by a quinn ad fiora earlier. But late game I was able to beat her if I could start the fight. Some champions like jayce and quinn use their poke and mobility to win lane well against melees. But there's a trade off, so it's balanced.
