It's not a complete Noob-Trap, if you can get some AS for your passive it's good, but yeah - the actual AS scaling is bad, you should only get one AS Item to raise your crit chance. ^^ (Some free AS is also great. Yomuus/Censer)
But I agree - there is no real 'reward' for buying AS. You have the feeling you need to buy it because of crit/Passives, but there is no real incentive.
