I like how this post offers constructive criticism and shows ideas on how to better balance the game. We need posts like this in G&B instead of those upvote farming circlejerk threads with no substance.

It still doesn't help. OP didn't even list any offenders, just generally that the balance team did something wrong.

ModCaptainMårvelous9 votes

Oh no, they do. They provide context and insight. And then people ignore it because they hold their own biases.

I especially love the Xin QQ. "OMG HE IS IN EVERY NORMAL GAME AND HE'S BROKEN OMG". Then you realize Xin's winrate in diamond and beyond is -still- low at around 48%. Platinum? 51%. Gold? 53%. Silver and below? 55%. Hm. It's almost as if players who know fuckall about what to do struggle when it comes to a champion.

There comes a point where the QQ gets ridiculous. Zed, even with his new item, still hovers just above a 50% win rate. Fizz, who routinely gets QQ, sits at 48%. Instead of saying to themselves "Hm, I should learn to deal with this character", people rush to the forums and scream "UGH OMG I HATE THIS META AND PATCH RIOT IS KILLING THE GAME."

It's about time Riot stopped holding hands. Rage, crying and threats to quit the game or not? Most of the problem lies with the players. NOT with how balance is going.

Unstoppable Monk6 votes

Well some champions are hard to mechanically deal with like Fizz.

However the QQing about Xin has made me lose complete faith in what anyone who bothers to post says, unless they're a Mordekaiser Main.

HighH18 votes

A very specific Morde main

Unstoppable Monk4 votes

But a good Morde main. One that is both a gentleman and a scholar of metal.

One who is slightly malicious perhaps?

Unstoppable Monk1 votes

I may believe that he motions in all maliciousness, in medium moderation.

Dengeden1 votes

And they can't exactly say what you just did, that'd be horrible PR ... even if it's probably on the tip of their tongues.

ModCaptainMårvelous1 votes

Unfortunately. All they can do is ignore it.

Silents4294 votes

I don't.

Seriously?

Like seriously.

It doesn't work to you because they don't do what some guy on a forum told them would be a good idea? The community hasn't got the first clue about balance!

Dengeden1 votes

Their honest response would be:

Well you're wrong, completely wrong, I don't even know where to start. I mean ... you do realize why that's a necessary feature, right?

"The thing is people try that, doesn't ever work though."

People make post about how they know the balance of the game better than riot and speak on behalf of the entire player base as to why the game should be balanced the way they want.

An example, "The cinderhulk meta was the healthiest for the game and had the most variety and strategic diversity."

I can't tell you how many times I've seen some variance of that statement. I can tell you how many times I've seen proof of it 0. People just make up claims about how balance should work and how the game should be played without any evidence. And if Riot doesn't agree with you, "oh their not qualified to do their job, they only care about LCSBIGPLAY$ herp derp."

People complain about a champion not getting nerfed immediately, then turn right around and complain when a champion is nerfed quickly. Lux vs Brand is an example of this. People say they want more attention to less popular champions until riot does that, now people are complaining about Kog and Xin.

That's the problem with these boards, every one is a fucking expert on something because they say they are.

The thing is people try that, doesn't ever work though.

Riot's usual response to anything even remotely constructive and respectful: "Well we feel like champion X isn't meeting our expectations, so we're going through with these changes no matter what anyone says. consequences be damned."

You ever watch the summoners show case, Its always like "Yeah i see your point and it makes total sense, But we did this and we are gonna stick with it a while and hopefully you see things our way" Dude Watching that shit gives me aids

Secretlolz1 votes

Well Dear PuddingLax, IF the community new Riot actually CARED I bet people would bother to elaborate more.

But since this year they decided they know everything and forget from where their monthly pay comes from, they do whatever they want, ruining the game

Doesnt matter. Riots current leadership are the dumbest in the industry. Heck even if someone posted an amazing solution and spelled it all out... and Riot even agreed... They intentionally wouldn't do it just because of the post. Im still waiting to hear where they went to school so I can make sure no one I know ever throws their life away by attending clearly the most embarrassing degree farm on the planet. Again Riots leadership is proof that a degree does not mean you are smart. It means your checks cleared. Clearly they give degrees to those mentally handicapped. Riots leadership is proof.

Yeah, because riot TRULLY cares about our opinion on terms of balancing the game. They just do what they want , wait 3 months to see they fucked up, and then give the champion a love tap ( except if the champion is not a LC$BIGPLAYZ child, than they will get nerfed faster than light ).

Kadeem Kong1 votes

They've had their chance lol, Fool me once shame on you....If you fool me , you cant get fooled again!!

Squidblimp8 votes

We need a new community.

Once again, they have complained. And it's completely their fault how much they whine.

LF Annie5 votes

idk what specifically you're talking about, but the balance team has bosses and agenda's they have to work around, give it a couple months before we get the pitchforks.

AdminAnonymous24 votes

It's already been a couple months and it got worse.

Emperor Time5 votes

I'd say the only broken champions at the moment are Kog and Udyr, what ball did Riot drop?!? Even after the new item Zed is ok, but not completely broken.

Punkkee1 votes

what the

nahj2 votes

Poppy QuinnGravesJax Alistar Fiora Gangplank Malphite Ryze Soraka Trundle ?

Kog/udyr are pretty supreme cancer, but it's a pretty universal complaint that 6 bans isn't enough.

Emperor Time4 votes

the only somewhat broken champion out of all of those is quinn. How in the fuck is Ryze even remotely strong now. Idk how Trundle even got in that list or Soraka, they both have clear strengths and weaknesses. Alistar is by far worse than soraka, but he got nerfed this patch so there goes that champ. I dislike Poppy heavily, but I don't think she's broken like Kog or Udyr. Malph is only good because he's so easy to play and Gangplank is just being nerfed and nerfed every patch so he wont last long.

CasterGilgamesh4 votes

welcome to the league of legends community where any champion is op even when they clearly aren't. Also where the meta sheep try to enforce the meta constantly on people who want to play other champions. A place where everyone thinks copying the LCS will get them free LP and skill doesnt matter as long as you pick or ban a champion considered op.If given the chance people would ban whole metas of champions.Like seriously the meta sheep are some of the reasons holding this game back since the second something becomes flavor of the month they pick that over everything else and rage at people who don't pick or ban it as well.

Watch the 2015 LCS Finals, last game. The one where the assassin can't duel the mage. Ever since his release I knew Ryze was OP,but he wasn't popular...

Emperor Time1 votes

i'm talking about now, not 2015, why are you living in the past.

Rikari1 votes

it was barely two ago.

Mhihnj1 votes

as a person who used to like kog n season 5, this makes me sad

LVL 5 PORO4 votes

Agreed.

Havenscythe1 votes

The problem lies with items now not champions. They seem to not realize how big items impact the game.

Rikari1 votes

What do you dislike about the current balance team? Who is certainlyT? Name a member of the current balance team.

LegendmakerGX5 votes

See that's the problem, NAME A MEMBER<< Well not a lot of people even know any of them since they don't even reply or talk back to the community on the balance issues. That is how bad the Balancing team is at communicating with the players rather then only watch LCS. Heck scratch that, THATS HOW BAD ALL OF RIOT IS AT COMMUNICATING WITH THE PLAYERS.

Gregor Gysi2 votes

No, that is simply wrong. The reason why people don't know the balance team is because they do not care enough to look the redposts up. They have been telling us about gameplay values several times (type design values or anything), have been communicating while doing all these reworks, have started talking about the mage rework that is about to come this year in the last year, have been talking and discussing about problematic releases (yes, certainlyt DID talk about Mordekaiser) etc etc etc. Practically every relevant change has been communicated to us players. Is it hard to keep track of those posts? NO, it's not. There is the "Red Tracker" on the boards and surrenderat20.net sums the most important Rito posts up. People are friggin lazy and unless they force you to read everything when logging in people will keep on complaining about Riot.

That being said Riot of course does occasionally screw up. Usually they admit to it (Mordekaiser, the wolf ghost thingy), sometimes they don't (Kha'6 afaik). But all in all it's not that bad. If you can't name any member of the current balance team then you probably don't care about it.

DarkSunSovereign1 votes

Morello, iirc.

Archace1 votes

Balancing a game like League is very hard. One day on live is more than months of testing in terms of information on balance. This still does not excuse it when things like Mordekaiser's rework comes out and no one ever wants to play botlane again for months before he was reigned in. Xin buffs were completely unnecessary and took him so far forward that hes busted again. There is a lot that goes into balancing things, but it does feel like the balance team doesn't even look at the game sometimes.
