The game is not experimental enough anymore...

Riot has balanced the game in a way that playing unconventional champion picks or experimenting with different champion builds will get you a torrent of abuse and will actually lose you the game because there is hardly any way to recover from early game loss at the moment. This makes the game a whole lot less fun for me because experimenting with different champions added variety and an element of fun to the game that has been completely lost in order to appeal to one trick ponies on meta champions.

You see this with champions "reworks", with most support picks that used to be experimental picks in other lanes, have become boring and stuck to one lane only while sucking everywhere else. Same with jungle reworks too... League used to be a lot more diverse.

The game does not encourage you to experiment and find a playstyle with a champion that works for you. You are expected to play like everyone else that plays that champion and its turning this game into a microcosm of China and Korea where everyone is the same or encouraged to express themselves.

When will this end?

No, the game is TOO experimental now. Every new champion or rework feels like its just testing for a concept that will be applied to a future champion. Look at Akali's new shroud. That's just a field test for fine tuned conditional stealth zones. The thing is though, the tests never amount to anything. Ornn's brittle debuff is unique to him. It feels like a test for a new type of debuff, as does Zoe's sleep, but you'll never see a similar concept on any new champions.

I remember the three hit passive era. So many champions were released in a row that had some form of "Do this instance of damage 3 times and get rewarded". I kinda miss those days tbh
