A question to people who played the Khazix/Renger meta

So I joined toward the end of season four, right when samsung white won worlds, so my first season in LOL doesnt really count, my first TRUE season was season five, I have done my meta history research, big fan of that sort of stuff, but now I have a question, for frankly it's not really something you can study but had to experience.

Back before Kha Zix got gutted, and was allowed to be equals with Rengar, in the season where both Kha and Rengar were seen as the best junglers, in what scenarios would a jungler main want a Khazix over a rengar, and when would you want a Rengar over a Khazix? Would be happy if someone could clarify for me.

Kha'Zix was really good for poke in season 4 with W, which was nerfed after worlds. And Rengar was really good for setting up picks for his team, the ulti vision is nice and after that he was a DPS monster with Flare/youmuus, usually building locket/randuins/warmogs after. They served Different purposes forsure

TLDR: Kha'zix = Poke || Rengar = Initiator

Just unless KhaZix gets super fed and is a very good player for that champion, you almost never see a KhaZix do anything usefull, so it's kinda hard for someone who started season five to see what's so great about Khazix XD

Kha'Zix is still really strong, just for different reasons. I just don't value those reasons over Rengar's xD

I started in the early stages of Season 5 (and have only played Rengo, not Kha), so take everything I say with a grain of salt :3 In my experience, Rengo has always been the better pick. Better stealth (and counters other stealth), stronger presence, better counter-jungling, more reliable burst, etc etc. The only reason I can imagine a Kha doing better than rengo is due to his better early game. His ganks and early pressure tends to be better than Rengar's, and if he is fed (I do believe he can get a jump reset on kills) I can see Kha having an easier time taking out more than one target with his better short-term mobility in teamfights. I personally prefer what Rengar has to offer over Kha, but it's really a player's playstyle preference. With Rengar's recent nerfs and Kha's recent buffs I think the matchup is a little more even than it was before (it used to be so bad that Kha was almost always too behind for The Hunt Is On! goal to even be activated) although it still favors Rengar simply because of his better late game. TL;DR: Rengar is more reliable and provides more for late game while Kha is unreliable with a slightly stronger early game. Rengar is ensured kills and counters stealth champs (basically for twitch, shaco, or other Rengars) while Kha has more potential to delete multiple enemies if fed. In a 1v1 matchup Rengar will win due to better scaling and his natural ability to counter stealth champs (if you don't know, his ult also allows him to see stealthed champs). Hope this helped, I obviously favor Rengar more than Kha due to personal preferences but It's up to the individual player's preference ^-^
