[UNPOPULAR OPINION] ZED IS HARD TO PLAY

HateDaddy··6 votes·3,574 views

It’s just that at lower ellos (no offense intended), players don’t know how to accept that they lose lane to him early and have to give up some farm but in exchange, they get to scale way better and be more useful late game. In other words, they don’t attempt to punish zeds weaknesses and really only play in a horrible fashion that leaves their weaknesses to being exploited.

All it takes is one combo to chunk a big portion of my health as a squishy mage, especially when coupled with Electrocute. What's worse is that combo itself requires 0 risks except being unable to CS properly without any escapes, except for his Flash & ult.

Another thing that upsets me playing against Zed is always being forced to rush Zhonyas instead of my HP/Mana sustain items. Build Tear? Get punished. Build Lost Chapter? Get punished. That champions speaks thousands of unfun.

Didn't you read what OP said? Just afk until 20 minutes so he can't abuse it and then win.

Your champion will typically have the capacity to still farm, but you have to play back. Start D-shield or start cloth armor if you don’t trust your ability to avoid skill shots. And even then, zed is going to land some. You play back and accept you lose early. You help your team by warding rivers and not feeding. And yes, that does mean you sacrifice quite a bit of CS.

  1. Now, I understand that right now, the game pacing and damage is ridiculous so that makes playing this route less consistent. But that doesn’t mean Zed is easy to play, and it doesn’t even indicate a problem with zed. It means Riot has some gameplay things to address.

Did you even read what you're saying? You literally described even more why fighting Zed is frustrating af.

You can't really brush off the current meta when everyone is forced to play in it. Zed in a vacuum can be hard to play but zed in the current hypersnowball meta can be easy to play. There were times in the past where zed was overpowered in high elo and fine in silver and other times when zed was fine in high elo and overpowered in low elo.

That being said, i'm not sure why people don't just look at the winrates by games played. That would probably be a much better measure.

all combos chunk though

Something that always annoyed me is how (when you play any squishy class) you need to rush defensive items against assassins to have a chance to survive but then they get away with buying no defensive items themselves because their mobility ensures their survivability.

The combo isn't exactly hard to land either. Stupidly easy to play.

He's really not hard to play at all, though.

Trust me. I've played him more than enough to know. He's an easy champion once you learn basic things like W range and all of that.

His damage without 3 shurikens is way too high to consider him hard. Unless that's nerfed a decent amount, he just is too oppressive with the mere threat of WEQ being able to do 60% or more of your health easily (It's not a hard combo to land at all). And once you land that, especially post 6 or with ignite, you single-handedly make it impossible for them to come close because you can kill them too easily then. So they have to back, then they're going to be behind in exp, meaning that your combo will do even more, and they have to use abilities to farm, meaning they'll be too low mana to do anything if you decide to dive them...

Zed just needs to not proc Electrocute with his WQE combo alone. It's two damaging abilities, not three.

KoreanJesus03202 votes

Oh but have you seen how much damage a WEQ does with armor? zed: serrated dirk vs ANYONE WITH MORE THAN 10 BONUS ARMOR will make it so the weq won't even do half their hp. a full rotation while someone like brand (for example, not bashing on him) can just wqe for a normal damage w and it'll do almost 70% of a squishy's hp at ANY POINT IN THE GAME. And do you realize how situational a triple q is? this is under the assumption that he still has his w shadow when he ults you AND you're even in range for his R shadow's shuriken to hit you. And how else should zed proc his electrocute then? Because if i remember correctly electrocute is procc'd 3 autos as well. With your logic since its only one "ability" doing damage to them, it shouldn't proc electrocute? Just learn how to play the game.

And what skill is needed to press W+point and click R + E + Q in any direction since you have 3 of them + point and click ignite + point and click basic ?

Could just not be in range of him when his W is up and retreat back to tower if he jumps on you + exhaust. Stopwatch is also free through masteries. So between exhaust and stopwatch early game, you should acquire plenty of gold to get armguard.

And what does 30 armor do against ignite and Zed's whole kit in general? I've seen him melt tanks that built only armor and you think 30 bonus armor will do anything?

I didn’t know Zed started the game with LW to melt tanks. That happens late game. Ninja tabi + armgaurd actually helps a great bit.

Is 20 minutes late game? He didn't even need LW.

{quoted} Ninja tabi + armgaurd actually helps a great bit.

They help, but not that much.

KoreanJesus03201 votes

well assuming you were laning aginst the zed, i bet he's really fed and just got to the point where he can kill the tank who has maybe 100, 150 armor. If zed has black cleaver, then it certainly is a possibility. And also ninja tabi + armguard won't help if you face tank all of his abilities like a blind man. Armor is supposed to help mitigate damage. Not make it so idiots like you can just face tank all the abilities you want and still want to win lane.

S0kaX1 votes

Too bad I was the tank support and Zed only won lane by a couple of kills and 2 turrets.

KoreanJesus03201 votes

Oof. Feels bad man. Wasn't even anything you could have done. Yeah zed maybe a trash champion, but damn is he good at snowballing games. Also sorry for the bit of hostility in the response. I was a bit irritated from a different post about saying how all ad assassins are broken (especially zed). No hard feelings <3

Wow, never thought I would have seen Hate Daddy devolve into a troll account... Unfortunate.

Being downvoted by the Gameplay Boards is not being a troll, is having common sense and at least a bit of game knowledge

Except early on you dodge 8 out of 10 Q's he throws, but the 2 that hit he gets to go in and do 80% of your HP with little to no risk to himself. He gets to CS easily and poke you down forever if you attempt to CS yourself. Yea you can AFK at your turret for 10-15 minutes until you are somewhat strong enough to not die, but that isn't a fair way to play. He can choose to play either aggressive or safe without risking CS or dying, which makes it difficult to farm against him and for your jungler to try and pressure him.

Yea later in the game it becomes more difficult for him to insta-pop someone, but he put you behind and made you useless, he also probably roamed around and created a ton of pressure for his team. All because his presence in lane is too powerful.

Yorick was nerfed because he was too oppressive against bad players, Zed is far more oppressive against a larger portion of the player-base... Maybe make him a little harder to play rather than nerfing him would be more appropriate. Make it so he actually has to land both his Q's to do damage instead of just AA'ing you and Eing you for a ridiculous amount of damage with Electrocute.

KoreanJesus03201 votes

See this is where you're wrong. If he plays aggressive and throws his shadow when he's too far up, easy gank unless he has flash. If he decided to play safe, all he's gonna be doing is farming while you constantly push him in. And the big difference? You don't need kills to scale up. Your items have super good gold efficiency and stupid good scaling. Meanwhile, zed need kills for an early gold advantage. And even with a gold advantage its so absolutely worthless on zed because 600 hold buys you 2 cloth armors which is 15 each, total of 30 armor. You can't even get 2 longswords with that. so say that the zed back and gets a serrated dirk? it literally doesn't matter because lethality is now a mid-late game stat and even IF it was 10 armor pen from the beginning, 30 armor off of a seekers or just 2 cloth armors will absolutely cuck his damage. And his q's and passive are the only things that do a relevant amount of damage. Zed's e is laughable damage unless he's fed and his w is on an abysmally long cd without at least 30 percent cdr and a few levels into it. His q is the only reliable damage source and even then its a skill shot and if it goes through minions its more or less irrelevant with just a slight amount of armor.

You are right but it's too hard for the Gameplay Boards to dont blindly hate Zed.

And nice, an unpopular opinion that is an actual unpopular opinion.

BearExperiment1 votes

I don't like this opinion, please remove it from gameplay.

saltran1 votes

The diference is that my opinion is right and you guys are just circlejerking about assasins day and night because you are bored or something.

Hell and I dont even like fucking assasins, I main adc but I'm not that stupid to pretend that champs like Zed or Yasuo are easy.

MateIn11 votes

Im a zed main with 80k mastery so that might bring some justification, if you play against zed you often win early, just respect zeds power spikes and abuse the fact he is a melee champion. secondly zed scales and is squishy if he is so oppressive in lane just let him shove and ping your jg to gank.
