Stop asking for thresh nerfs

He completely oozes counterplay, and IS a jack-of-all-trades master-of-none. Now you compare to Blitzcrank, who literally zones you by existing, has an instant-cast hook which is 4x more toxic than Thresh's. Now everyone is up in arms over Janna nerfs, and while disengage is her thing, she's doing it a bit too well.

It also seems the basis of a lot of justification for nerfing is his pick rate (in no relevance to his win rate) to which I have 2 things to say: Is nerfing a champion based on pick rate ALONE okay? And 2: he is a support. The reason why this matters to me is because support is usually not exactly a contested role, so for those who don't play it, they'll most likely buy and use what everyone else is using.

Now it wouldn't exactly take long for someone to find me being salty about Lee sin, for somewhat the same reasons, but here is the difference to me (which should be the only problem since it's my bias to begin with), when Thresh escapes from a poor misposition in our jungle, I usually think, "wow, that was a pretty sick escape", whereas with Lee Sin, I think "why did I even bother...". (IE, thresh can be punished and Lee can't)

TL;DR, thresh is significantly better than both his hook counterparts (Naut and his fat-ass hitbox into never ending cc-chaining, and Blitz who zones you by moving forward) as he has much more counterplay, and while he has a lot in his kit, there's always a support that can perform 1 or 2 things he does but better.

too bad being a good support is all about being good at everything a support has to offer. The problem is that thresh is never a bad pick. He is always a good or even great pick. While other champions are good in certain area's. Thresh is good in all area's and in some even better than others.

Also his lantern is gay.

I concede, the lantern saving people that should die for their mistake is pretty lame, but I do like how it can be used offensively. Not as bad as kalista ult though, that thing I hate >:(

There is nothing I dont hate about kalista :P

Legit I can deal with everything else, but that ult shouldn't work if the oathsworn is ccd

Dont worry riot not gonna nerf her cause of the flashy plays on lcs.Even if she"s top tier support since her release.janna on other hand cant really make those plays ,so they gonna nerf her over and over againt ,untill she becomes garbage.

You realise Janna won't feel this much, at least support Janna. It's -0.1 AP, and they're making insta-nados slightly more risky to pull off. What is annoying me is people see Janna nerfed and instantly jump into the Thresh riot. You realise Janna has been played as consistently as Thresh for basically the last year.

Thresh is picked often in pro-play because you don't have to commit to a team composition early in the draft, it's a trade off of a strong composition that's shown early in the draft, to a somewhat weaker composition shown later.

Thresh, the champion who has always been a top tier support for coming up on 3 years. "Muh counterplay" "Dodge the hook xd" "BOOM OUTPLAY"

I like you.

Whether or not I agree with you, you actually get it.

Honestly, I don't see any way to nerf Thresh fairly (maybe lantern range?) without gutting the guy. He's not overpowered, just overplayed, and that's not a fair reason to nerf the poor guy. I'd like him to be played yes, but the end (lower pick rate) does not justify the means (utter gutting!).

Divewing1 votes

Agree on lantern, the saving tool it is is a bit much

Lauchmelder1 votes

I would still play him if he gets gutted. I like that guy. (yes, I am a lore guy + i love his kit).

He recently got buffed as he had apparently too few HP. I think the only way to actually nerf him is nerfing the droprate of souls. If every smaller minion would only drop a sould every fourth time (aka 25% droprate, from the current 33%) you would delay his power a bit. That's not a huge nerf to him but probably already makes him a worse pick than now.

If that's not enough they could increase his lantern cooldown by 5 seconds (which is a lot). It doesn't make him worse that much but now his teammates have to actually think instead of getting a Bailout every few seconds.

If he still isn't in a decent/more decent spot then nerf his earlygame damage on Flay (e).

65 / 95 / 125 / 155 / 185 > 55 / 85 / 120 / 150 / 185

Thresh is, in my opinion, one hell of an earlygame monster but doesn't really fall off late due to his kit. If they nerf his earlygame a bit it could throw him into a healthy spot where he isn't played that much any more, but remains viable.

Personally I wouldn't really touch the hook. It's what makes him Thresh. It's a trademark.

For starters, he does a little to much damage. That's one place to start.

Now you compare to Blitzcrank, who literally zones you by existing,

Guess what? Thresh zones just as hard as Blitzcrank. (Basically rush Mobility boots and they either have to turn around to hit you and you get a free hook or they try and outrun a 400+ movement speed Thresh, both suck.) Blitz doesn't get the benefit of the doubt either. Blitz grabbed Leona? Well she just went straight for the carry instead. Thresh grabbed Leona? We'll just walk away from her.

He provides way more utility than almost any other support (his optimal build only further pushes that), not to mention he can be extremely tanky and do respectable damage.

Can any other support land a hook, grab an ally from out of range/vision, knock back a team from escaping, then throw a nigh-unescapable heavy slow box on their team? Blitz only gets to screw up one guy, Thresh gets to screw up their whole team. Who cares if he can't shield, enhance autos, or heal for crap, the things he does, he does them ridiculously well. (don't get me wrong, both champions need nerfs, but Blitzcrank is not a superior Thresh.)

(finally, despite what TV tropes wants you to think, being a Jack of All Trades in League is not a bad thing. It means you are versatile and adapt to more situations than a master of one. Janna is the queen of disengage, how does she feel about trying to engage on the enemy team? Thresh is good at both engage and disengage. Tahm can save someone next to him, how about saving someone Lantern toss distance away?)

Divewing1 votes

Blitzcrank is toxic. He doesn't have to wait for mobis, he just needs level 3, on top of that, blitz has nidalee syndrome, he can miss 500000000 hooks, but the one that lands wins the game.

Marthian1 votes

They are both toxic. Thresh also has Nidalee syndrome: Miss many hooks but that one hook that wins the game.

Divewing1 votes

I still feel Blitz is worse, Thresh's is more obvious, easier to dodge, easier to cleanse/QSS, and it doesn't pull you into the enemy team.

Marthian1 votes

While you see thresh wind up a hook, you don't see which direction he's aiming. Both suffer from vague hitboxes (and Blitz's skins don't help at all)

Divewing1 votes

I main mid. I'd like to say I am competent dodging skillshots. In a lane with blitz its cancer, I'd take being forced not vs thresh for the rest of my life than see blitzcrank. It doesn't matter how well you can poke, trade, harass, or farm, if he lands 1 PULL you are gone.

I mean there isn't much you can even do with the wave, if you let it push, you might lose farm, if you push it it makes it easier for blitzcrank to just walk up and punch you first, if you try to hold it in the middle you need constant brush wards. Thresh is simply a lot easier to react to, and even if he does land the hook, you don't go flying into tower range

The reason why people do that is because Janna had basically no reason to be nerfed. She wasn't OP, she was strong but she wasn't OP. Thresh has everything in the game. Besides sustain. Janna has like . . . . 4 abilities and 5 skills that come with those abilities? (Her ult pushes and heals) So Janna is looking like this:

Knock-up Slow Shield Push Heal

Thresh is looking like this

Q: Engage Q: CC Q: Crossing the jungle Q: More but I would need more time to think W: Save team W: Save team with a shield W: Engage W: Disengage W: Assisting a teammate by jumping a wall they would otherwise need flash for W: Scales infinitely with his passive W: Prevent poke W: Prevent tower dives by staying back W: More but I would need more time to think E: Slow E: Displacement/knock-up E: He can engage (Backwards) E: He can peel (forwards) E: More I would need more time to think R: 99% slow, which can be applied several times R: Engage R: Disengage R: Peeling R: Has enough of a base damage to be a real threat early game R: More but I would need more time to think

Thresh can literally do more than Sona and Janna combined.

Now your being ridiculous. You are just listing all the shit he can do, while leaving out everything he can't. And with the 'more but i would need time to think', you look like an idiot. Because now we know your just flapping your asscheeks on the keyboard to come up with another bullet of cri-baby-ery.

W: Save team because he can lantern a whole team? W: Assisting a teammate by jumping a wall they would otherwise need flash for. _Yea, its called being unique. Not the same shit. W: Prevent poke The shield is lackluster, in my opinion. Lets comepare it to morgana/karma/orianna/janna/etc ** W: Prevent poke** well damn I forgot that other champs cant turret hug to. They are restricted to staying outside of turret range W: Save team with a shield Its like a karma team wide sheield, except it isnt a speed boost, it isnt teamwide, and it isnt a big shield E**: Slow** Should I go through and name the 50 other supports with slows or stuns? **R: 99% slow, which can be applied several times **Because I just see people running through all 5 walls when chasing. It doesnt even do dmg after first wall. R: Engage R: Disengage R: Peeling I mean, its a support. it is SUPPOSED to have all of this. just like EVERY OTHER support does (many do it better) R: Has enough of a base damage to be a real threat early game BLITZ/KARMA/MORGANA/kennen/etc would like to have a word with you > Thresh can literally do more than Sona and Janna combined. I KNOW RIGHT!!!! I just love when I am playing adc and my thresh support heals me, has a long distance enemy team knockback, while also poking with Q empowered AAs and doing 1/4 of the enemy adcs hp! Oh and when he gives me a speed boost, it is just the best man. And how about when he takes a smart fight and stuns the 5 enemy champs that chased in river with his linear ulti shillshot that makes them start dancing for the rest of time!

LaowPing1 votes

A lot of those are just repeats of what you already said. Like when you list both disengage and peel.

Zorae421 votes

No. They need to nerf him to unplayable conditions for like 1-2 patches, just to get rid of all the people that default to him because he's always a good support pick no matter what the comp is. Then, slowly revert them to discourage people from reverting back to the habit.

All I want is a few weeks were I don't have to play against this champ literally every 3rd game. I just want a little diversity bot lane.

Divewing1 votes

Diversity was sketchy before, but Riot nerfed all the other supports that aren't tankish
