Would Nautilus Make a Good Support?

Tis a nice day··2 votes·2,829 views

After looking at his abilities, he seems to share many features with another common support, Leona.

They both have gapcloser abilities that briefly stun the enemy (Nautilus's is longer and can be used for escaps, Leona's works through minions). They both have defensive steroids and the ability to damage nearby enemies (Leona +resistances, Nautilus +shield and a slow from riptide) They both have on-hit stuns/roots (Leona shield bash, Nautilus passive) They both have AOE disable ults.

So Nautilus worth playing as support?

Short answer: Yes.

Long Answer: Yeeeessssss.

Naut's got a lot of CC, and he's definitely a viable support. I've not played him support myself, though, so I don't know how he fares in different matchups. He might struggle against a Kalista or other ADC who can kite well.

He is ok, Blitz is the better choice though

The basic problem with Nautilus is that the other team picked Leona and you get wrecked.

In a neutral matchup, against someone like Nami, Naut is a pretty useful dude.

I played Nautilus support during this free week (just a couple of times though) and he's good. He has so much CC that it isn't hard at all to save your ADC or lock down the enemy ADC. He has a great deal of mobility with his hook, if you get caught alone you can dash long distances by hooking walls, or just sit right next to your target and nail them to the floor.

Also, playing Naughtylus is so fun, I find his kit more satisfying for a support role than Blitz or Thresh (although Thresh' damage can be so scary if you don't build full supp/tank). W + Q the ADC + AA + E, he flashed? R and gg And if you go exhaust... oh boy, there are no brakes on that train.

So my vote is definetely banana.

I think he needs too much gold/exp early game in order to keep his shield, his main damage source, from breaking.

He's my favorite Support, well, technically only, I just can't find any supports I particularly like... But yeah, he makes a great non-meta support. Pick him with Draven, Vayne, Koggles, I bet Kalista might be a good choice too. Haven't had that yet though.

I typically go with Face of the Mountain, often using it greedily to keep my own shield alive tbh, but yeah. The only problem with Naughty Support is that his Anchor hitbox is stupid huge, it's not like thresh or blitz where you can thread the minions, but once you hit 6 you have an obscene all in lock down.

How he compares with Leona? Depends on the comp really. With a point and click ult, his lockdown is easier to land, but if both you and Leona don't have your ults I'd say Leona is in a better spot, easier to stick onto them and I think her Q is a longer stun than Naut's passive.

I play Naut support. Max his Riptide first, so you can really hurt the enemy champions. I used to go shield, but the E is where it is at. He can protect his adc well and get them quite fed.

The best way to go about that is trying it out. Try it in a few bot games with some support items and then take it to pvp. He seems to me like a viable support.

In low elos pretty much anyone can be a support if they know their champ. Ive played with a guy who ran naut support and completely destroyed laning phase. Super aggressive as soon as we hit lvl 2 and proceeded to all in the enemy every time they stepped out of turret range. It was actually pretty comical.

I love naut support, my fave is when there is a thresh bot he grabs my adc and I grab him at the same time and root him and gg

naut is just a huge walking ball of cc

did u know that nauts auto can go over jarvans wall? ive saved my adc with that before lol

naut also magically deals a ton of damage

Naut support is good, it's not his best position but it's good.

The difference between nautilus and leona is that leona can apply much more damage to the targe once she gets in when going all-in on a enemy early to mid game Nautilus has an hard way early when he has few points in his abilities because in comparison he either lose out on damage if he put points on W or tankiness if he put points on E, and on top of that his CDs are pretty high (given that he must put points on Q to reduce his high base Cd). Pre-6 you are probably going to get a lot behind the enemy support, unless you can hit properly the Q on a defensive way when the enemy is on your tower range and got an early kill Until you get to level 9 or 10 you stay behind, so he is viable only if you are sure you can survive being at disadvantage for half of the game, until you start to outscale the enemies in very late game

Nautilus was always been a viable high skillcap support. He has clear strengths but also clear weaknesses. It are his cooldowns that make it pretty difficult for him to support effectively. But just like a lot other tier 3 support. It has potentional if you known what your doing.

Naut and Mf combo is the most op bot lane combo.

Long necro boy.

Naut support is fairly good. The new mastery helped him out a lot, and the first two purchases (sightstone and FotM) are HP which make the shield better.

EDIT: O didn't notice the necro, popped up in the recent activity feed from the other guy.
