Question about Maokai Builds

I used to build Maokai in the following order

Machete + 2 pots (start) Ninja Tabi Ranger Sunfire Spirit Visage

From there, it was a situational build. These days I'm taking Warmog's and Rod of Ages interchangeably. So I have 2 questions.

What changes would you make to the overall build?
Do you recommend taking either Warmog's or RoA? To be frank about things, I take Warmog because it helps my on-field times (that +800 HP helps with the passive) and I really just like the concept of RoA. I'm concerned that my love of it makes me take it when it's not the best option.

i generally go

chet, 2pots > rangers pots/wards, > mobis health crystal > sunfire (would now be replaced with the new enchant). then a health item, (usually randuins). after this its situational, either ill build more armor for an ad heavy team, or a cowl for ap teams,

it just seems awkward to build on mao without a sunfire built in. id have to consider adding ohmwreker in there. thornmail can also be great.

(final build mobis/tabi/merc, new jungle health item, randuins, ohmwrecker, banshees veil, thornmail) replace ohmwrekcer with warmogs or a locket/spirit visage for those heavy ap comps.

with a final item either being another armor item or a warmogs. and i will now replace my mobis with either merc treds or ninja tabi pending how much cc the enemy team has.

what mao really needs is flat health because he gets %damage reduction from his ult for most of the team fight. but again, the build is situational for me.

Yeah I get the situational nature of it, but to me, why wouldn't you build sunfire cape and then run Magus on the Machete upgrade?

because mao isnt a damage dealer, hes a front line peel for your team guy. and the health item gives bonus health now, no?

My normal build for Maokai (Gotta love the tree ^-^) is the pink tank jungle item (Sorry for not knowing the name xD), Rod of ages or Randuins, and then Aegis or Spirit Visage, depending on the amount of AP players they have (Aegis if more than 2 AP players usually). Ninja Tabi is good for the early game armor. And if you're going offensive, then Abyssal Sceptor is good

I wouldn't suggest Sunfire cape with the new Tanky item because I've heard that they don't stack, although it's up to you.
