Volibear VGU can help Mundo and Shyvana too

Volibear is an attack speed focused juggernaut and, back when the term was still used, considered one of the original supertanks of League. He survives fights through sheer durability. Both parts of these kits need to be modernized and I expect that he'll get that much.

Neither parts of these kits should be discarded, both because they aren't inherently bad traits and help him stand out, because he shares these traits with both juggernauts that are most likely to get VGUs; Shyvana and Dr Mundo.

I'll be honest; I'm tired of drain tanks. I don't want Volibear to be a vampire fighter with goofy sustain to counterbalance deceptive fragility. I want to be a raid boss again, man; let me be the toughest guy on the teamfight like I was back in seasons 5 and 6. Replace his passive wholesale, I don't care, give me a good, strong defensive spell that I can play around well with and I'm set. We haven't gotten one of these good old supertanks in forever. Mundo has a lot of that same feeling; he doesn't need to do insane damage in the span of a few spell casts and auto weaves. Just let him get up on people, be a sonofabitch to take down, and he's happy.

Shyvana and Volibear share the same problem as attack speed bruisers that to most people they have a very flat combat pattern. Most of their steroids are button tap available and they don't really feel like they have a full kit to people who don't already like the champion. The need for a more engaging auto attack pattern -- and a kit that actually correctly supports it -- is obvious for both of them. It's not really hard to deduce that Riot hasn't done a spectacular job with auto attacking fighters, least of all the old ones. And there hasn't been a new AS juggernaut at all; all new juggernauts are strictly casters, so we don't yet have a modern idea of this fantasy.

And that's the opportunity I'm talking about. Mundo is the original super tank and he's inevitable. Shyvana shares his affinity for attack speed, and honestly should probably become a high durability fighter like these two when she gets hers because dragons are supposed to be pretty hard to take down. This is a perfect chance to tackle both of these problems with Volibear who has both. Figure how you can take these old designs -- the massive HP pool supertank, and the attack speed based juggernaut - and modernize them. Make them fun, engaging, and then when you figure out what works and what doesn't with Volibear, these next 2 juggernauts would be a piece of cake.

I'll come up with ideas on specifics later.

I would totally dig in for a modern "fire" cloak for Shyvana's W that would inflict 15% grievous wounds to targets on her melee range and a 5% thornmail effect passively against AA's.

The fantasy why's behind it:

Thornmail effect: Proyectiles ricochet against her Dragon Form Scales. Grievous effect: Spiky skin and armor heated by fire (so it basically goes through flesh like butter).

Things like that it's what makes reworks cool. Something RELATED to the champ, how it looks, what niche fantasy they fill, gimmicks, etc.

I hope you get a nice Voli rework. I am interested on what will Riot Design Team will come up with.

Or we can just #revertVoli.

coolest idea, when volibear ults lightning storm that makes it hard for ranged units to target him, cant see him maybe cool?
