This is nothing new and everyone is already well aware, congratulations on your discovery though ^^ . Zyra is a mage who happens to be taken to the support role because of her high base and strong CC, she is not a support. Same can be said for Annie and many other, moonlight supporter.

I dunno, I feel like Zyra is just a bit more support-y as a poke mage with cc. She has reliable defensive cc that's always up as long as it's off cooldown, instead of relying on her passive like Annie. Annie is just burst with one way to cc, usually offensive.

I'd say that Zyra fits the bill a little more. She's a decent support.

Off topic: but is it just me or does mages that are sent bot lane always nerfed within a month or so?

Considering Annie, Zyra, and sometimes Lux have been in bot lane for months, no.

Really depends.

If they have enough utility to be a viable support (not every mage can go bot lane consistently), they might get toned down or power-shifted if they throw off the balance of bot lane. Especially if they have high snowballing potential.
