I'll go right ahead and say that's way too much base damage.

or way too little scaling?

Nope, Brand atm is a pain to deal with unless you're a tank.

You mean he's a pain to deal with if you're incapable of clumping on top of your team like an animal.

Brand is literally a worse Velkoz.

Thefrostyviking1 votes

Not really? He performs better in some areas of play.

He has a much easier time poking with his W and at some point(rather early) W-Q-E-R will a squishy opponent very quickly, if poked down somewhat low then W-E-R is enough.

Vel koz has to land his E to ever get anything done, if that misses or is dodged then he get's boned pretty hard.

"Vel koz has to land his E to ever get anything done, if that misses or is dodged then he get's boned pretty hard."

And this isn't true of Brand because...? They're both combo mages who rely on landing combos.

Seen Brand demolish people while missing Q completely despite not being fed, never seen vel koz demolish anything after missing E unless very fed.

Brand a tank killer ....

Ok so, can you please edit this post with the base damage and ap scaling on brand ult? I don't see why you wouldn't do that.

I'll tell you why. Cuz its a 25% ap scaling.

Zero Skill Tank3 votes

? It's a 25% AP scaling with 300 base damage. That's exactly the point. Even with some crazy ass 1200 AP build, half of the damage on it is still the base.

I don't think you understand Brand if u think his base values of his R is a problem/cause of his damage

Hint it's his passive.

NineTailedMystic1 votes

One of Brand's problems is how they made his R prioritize champions in the MYMU so if he hits 6 and you're in the minion wave, gg.

Hethalean7 votes

His scaling is garbage. His base damage is also pretty low. All of his damage is from getting procs off. If you just plain Brand ult into their team with no other abilities, it's pretty crummy damage.

It shines with hitting two people. One person takes 300 +75% AP, and another takes 200 +50% if they're silly enough to not just move a bit away from each other.

I agree that that's too much and another good reason why he's become a supporter. I hope they decrease the base and increase the Ap scaling so I don't have to ban him anymore.

If we'd reduce the base damage by e.g. 10 / 40 / 70 per bounce (new: 90 / 160 / 230 per bounce) and increase the scaling from 0.25 to 0.4 the damage output would equalize at 67 / 267 / 467 AP. Is that realistic? It would also decrease the damage potential of especially support Brand that gains a lot of his damage potential from magic penetration and base damage.

i have to disagree I think its good that we have Brand as support, some prefer to do damage as support and Brand is one of the few go to options for that purpose.

InTheory7 votes

I agree that having damage oriented supports are no bad thing by itself. But I also don't like his damage potential without that many items. Maybe it's just because his damage potential is best in 2v2 scenarios - a thing that is obviously happening in the support position. He's my nemesis and I'm aware that I'm maybe biased because of that. At the very end, its up to testing if its necessary because at the moment he doesn't seem to be out of line. But you know how fast meta can change towards one support class and if that happens towards the pure mages, then I'd probably vote for a change like that.

Especially with the new passive he got in the mage update, the guy is just built to lane vs multiple enemies.

and in turn his mid solo laning is trash

Attticus Finch2 votes

If you lowered Brand's base damages and upped his scalings all you would be doing is making him unviable bot lane. He would still be garbage as a laner.

Brand sucks as a laner (when his numbers aren't overtuned) because his wave clear is awful and his combos are highly punishable, being short ranged (for a mage) and two out of his three basic abilities requiring direct line of sight. He is already one of the least safe champions in the game, averaging more deaths per match then any other champion bar Quinn. In order to make him a laner you would have to do far more then just tweak his ability scalings.

MrPhamtom2 votes

Oh look

retarded silver kids doing math again

The entire point of that Ult isn't to do damage, it's to set up his passive so other spells can combo off it which is his damage

Bran needs a number re-work in general. He's an AP damage burst mage with godly base numbers and awful scaling. That's never a healthy combo because those mages always end up in bot lane. Can't go mid because gold is worthless on them past Sorc Boost+Haunting Guise. Can't go top because any good fighter will tear them in half with Hex Drinker. So all they can do is bully the ADC.

At first glance it honestly sounds like you want to buff Brand.

LOSINGISMYPRIDE1 votes

Well if you had 1200 ap damage your passive would deal 34 % of maximum hp + the 12 % maximum hp so 46 % maximum hp .So yeah hmm .

LOSINGISMYPRIDE1 votes

At 3 stacks, an area around the target is marked, which explodes after 2 seconds. All enemies struck are dealt 12% - 16% (based on level) 「 (+ 1.5% per 100 AP) 」 of their maximum health as magic damage. The explosion will still trigger if the target dies to the third ability or during the delay.

The thing is Brand's builds aren't (traditionally) AP heavy. It'll change with AP itemization, so who knows.

He has high base damage because he's supposed to bully early. The base dmg lets him win early trades and shove waves against his opponents. That base dmg is being abused by supports.

If you increase scaling and nerf dmg, you're shifting his character from early/mid-game to late-game based, which would require other changes to make him fit into that power curve.
