Old as fuck and unchanged for ages, but still a good pick, still a fun to play champion, still feels really nice and smooth to play, has never really been too strong or too weak. Jax is awesome and deserves a new legendary skin or something for being such a determined bastard, no matter the meta.

Joking aside, yeah, I honestly like him for just how reliable he is. His kit is simple but effective, and allows for quite a bit of itemization options with dual offensive scalings or tankiness. I really like the walking eggplant man

There is not a single lane he wins anymore after the base stats nerfs in season 4 and his teamfighting is as bad as always. New juggernauts completely shit on him and the only way he is relevant is if he goes even in lane which is impossible for him.

He has an absolutely godlike lategame with Devourer, and Runeglaive gives him a massive power spike early on. He absolutely is best in the jungle now I'd say.
