Dear Bot Laners

If your Top destroys their turret first and comes bot to defend your turret, plz don't run back to bot lane... go top.

Reasons:

  1. If you go back bot, you are forcing your Top laner to then back and run Top lane. This wastes a lot of time and pressure.
  2. If you don't go Top, this allows the enemy Top laner to farm for free and catch up. Depending on the champion this could be super bad news.
  3. If your Top laner has been crushing their laner, they will be too weak to fight you and it is a great chance for you to get some farm as well.
  4. If there are 3 people bottom and no one top, this frees up the enemy jungler to go either Mid or Bot, whereas your jungler HAS TO GO TOP in order to deal with the pushing lane and free farming enemy top laner.
  5. It will force their bot lane to go Top as well in order to not allow you to free farm or kill the enemy Top laner. Which in turn, will force the enemy Top laner to come bot in order to deal with your Top laner. If your Top laner has been stomping them, this means its most likely another free turret for your team.

You don't need to swap lanes forever or for the rest of laning phase, but it is extremely important that you don't waste your Top laners pressure and their lead. You don't always need to swap also, your Top laner may have come bot just to protect the turret and then wants to back and go back top. That is fine too, just try to communicate. It is pretty difficult to play and type this out in-game and sometimes pings don't get the point across, but unless you want to lose the game this is a important strategy to know and understand.

EDIT: Just to be clear, this goes both ways. It is incredibly important for Top laners to understand pressure, they need to know when they need to be in a lane and when to be with the team. If your bot lane destroys their turret, it is better for them to go to a different lane to get that turret. As a Top laner you need to be ready to go to a different lane as well.

My tops always TP bot when we're standing in lane or fighting, then watch their lane get destroyed because they TP'd for a fight that's already over.

So this thread goes both ways Mr.

TPing bot isn't a bad idea to turn a fight heavily in your favor, specially when you can secure first turret blood. In that scenario, bot lane should still go top or mid, if they go mid then mid should go top. If you don't get bot turret, Top needs to go back to their lane and if possible the Jungler should cover Top.

But you are 100% correct, this strategy does go both ways. Top laners need to learn when to roam and when to create pressure in a lane without giving up any.
