Damage taken is starting to really starting to become too much

Just over the years the changes to penetration, new champions with more and more complex and damage potential in kits, and the nerf to ALL tank items have made this game almost turn into a "well you hit me first so you win" type of game. Now I understand how frustrating it can be to not be able to damage your opponent, but with so many champions having high damage in their kits allowing you to essentially 1 shot all but the most tanky champions, it's starting to turn anti-fun mechanics.

In addition the all the crazy damage champions have now and what items allow, most, if not all newer champions have INSANE chasing and CC mechanics which add to the problem. If you do manage to survive burst most of these champions now have such high hypermobility or CC that you cant do anything anyway.

All im saying really is that tank items need to be buffed more and tank champions need some love, because dps has been running this game for awhile now.

  1. League of Legends is a team game. Whoever have the superior vision control gets rewarded with being able to ambush people. Whoever strikes first generally gets to dictate how the engagement will go. In short, if you get caught without vision and can't escape a super mobile assassin, it's your own fault for being out of position.
  2. Tankiness is a tool that champions are supposed to use to do their job (i.e.: CC and disruption), not a free pass to sit in the middle of the enemy team. If you are standing in range of the enemy damage dealers and your team isn't in position to make something happen, you are out of position and deserve to die.

Yea the point just flew over your head

How so? You're effectively complaining that itemization doesn't prevent people from dying when they are out of position. It never did, and even less so back when base damage numbers were much higher, CC lasted longer and the game was much more snowbally.

S2 Skarner was not dominant because he was an unkillable monster. He was scary because you were doomed if he caught you out of position (and well, "out of position" did include standing under your turret with allies nearby).

I never said it should prevent you from dying... you are blowing this out of proportion. It's never a good idea to put words in someones mouth. I just said tanks in general have gotten nerfed because of all the things around them getting nerfed and against them getting buffed.

At least it's better than when tanks ran the show. It was so much fun to watch tanks try to duke it out. Like watching paint dry.

wait, you're saying that high dps characters do a lot of damage? gasp what a crazy concept.

playing tanks is boring as shit tbh and im glad they're phasing it out.

"know what's fun? stacking 300 armor 200 mr and 5k hp, doing extremely low damage, and basically just standing there being a meat shield" said no one ever.

I play Sejuani occasionally and one of my favorite moments with her was one time the other team had moved to gank two of my teammates who were pushing the Mid inner turret. I came in with my R to stun the team and allowed me teammates to escape and then tanked the damage until I saw them recall. I even managed to run back out of the area without dying in what had become a 1v4 situation.

Being tanky can be a ton of fun when it works.

But if the armor and magic penetration get too strong then you are just a speed bump who can't do much damage. at that point playing a tank tends to be very frustrating. I believe that is what the original poster is commenting on. The huge jump in the amount and power of methods to ignore armor and magic resistance makes tanks much less effective and therefore a lot less fun to play for the people who enjoy playing them.

This is my point. I hate being a tank and I'm almost dead by the time I even reach the enemy team, or I go to engage and die 1 second into the fight because of how much more damage is being dealt than I can take. You are starting to see tanks less and less, in the jungle and in top lane. they are starting to phase out of viability *** WITH SOME EXCEPTIONS***
