Can someone tell me why I should play this champion. Her clear is terra-bad early. Her ganks are mediocre at best since pinks are cheaper now. Her damage was nerfed. Can you please just rework her already into something less annoying in game so we don't have to worry about her being so overpowered? I understand her stealth mechanic makes it hard to balance her. That's why I feel she's in need of a rework really bad. I know I've seen rioters post about it before. Can we get an eta on it please???

Last time I saw an Evelynn jungle (recently), she destroyed everyone.

If you have the right instincts to know where and when to rotate, Evelynn is truly frightening.

Zair Umbras1 votes

No, it's not instincts. It's if your enemies are stupid enough to push their lanes without pink wards, she's truly frightening. Evelynn's ganks are impossible to see coming without a pink, so she can snowball pretty easy, BUT... If her team is doing WELL and pushing her enemies in, she can't do ANYTHING because she doesn't provide any form of CC, her clear speeds are atrociously low, and her early game base stats are laughable, though her late game base stats are pretty high, which is funny given the fact she always falls off in the late game due to being completely useless.

Honestly she's not as weak as people think she is on this patch. Pinks being cheaper did nothing to her for the most part, but the lack of stealth ward vision options and nerfs across the board to stealth vision wards helped her significantly. It's very hard to keep track of a good eve now since you can't easily ward her camps or other points where you know she will become visible.

Perma stealth is still the most op passive in the game, yeah, and it makes balancing her a nightmare but recall if you will the 60 second activated stealth with a stun on hit when you exit and no visibility detection range from back in season 1. There's a reason she's been reworked twice already, thematically she presents an impossible choice for balancers. You can't keep her identity without making huge changes in the way she plays at a fundamental level.

She's fallen out of god tier jungler status with the nerf to her w now costing mana, but she's still top tier at the moment behind lee and elise and on par with gragas, rek, j4, and hec.

Stealth ward "options"? Generally in higher elos, you do not upgrade yellow trinkets into vision wards. The cooldown is much too long to be useful and vision denial from sweepers much better. This does not all of a sudden change when you're facing Eve. The support, top, and mid all get upgraded sweepers or the stealth ward upgrade and someone just buys a pink to put down before the team fight to prevent flanks.

also did you look at the statistics? She's weak and not top tier. She went from 51.61 to 47.35 winrate

The charge duration for yellow trinket doubled and you cant buy greens. She's virtually impossible to keep track of. That's beneficial to eve. Very beneficial. The severe nerfs to vision across the board is always a benefit to her because of the perma stealth. The defacto way to keep track of eve in high level play is to ward the locations she will definitely be visible, such as camps she intends to clear. Quite simply there are no longer enough wards to make this possible. Her combat stats have decreased dramatically relative to a lot of other champs within this particular patch, hence the win rate drop. However I'm still winning at a 60% clip with her, even in diamond, much better than that below diamond. I feel the dip is mostly because players have not adjusted jungling clear strategies properly with the changes made to jungle items and masteries. She basically took the same hit every champ not named lee sin or elise took as far as jungle relevance. Shes easily still in the tier below them.

Stalker's blade now gives wards. Now junglers can go standard sweeper and not give up a slot for stealth wards. Though the Warding Totem charge time is now 180 - 120 based on level versus 120 at all levels, you can get two charges.

Diamond? Even if you were, the rest of the diamonds aren't winning at a 60% winrate.

technically 58-59 %. Im rounding up. But yeah.

the deal with the teal smite upgrade is it only helped two junglers in particular. Elise and Lee sin. Those two champs never made the best use of the other smite upgrades simply because they didn't need them to be effective early. The chilling smite upgrade is op as balls and allowed champs like rek, grag, sej, eve, j4, di and a whole host of others, even picks like ww who historically has terrible early pressure to have early pressure. Effectively that item was a buff to those two champs who now picked up an extra item slot while other junglers still need chilling smite to remain effective early. Additionally since the timers for the stealth wards have doubled and you cannot buy green wards vision is almost completely lacking early in the game creating the very snowball environment we see in this patch, not dissimilar from season 2 and 3. That again was a net buff to elise and Lee. Regardless of those two seeing significant indirect buffs on this patch, other junglers are still viable to a degree its just not as close as in terms of relative disparity like we saw all this previous season where almost 20 champs were perfectly viable junglers in competitive terms. In effect there are now just 2. And then maybe like 5 or 6 others in the tier below that which are ok picks. All the devo picks fell out of viability with this patch, and everyone not named lee or elise got pushed down a tier. But eve is still a fine pick at the moment. There are better ones, but shes certainly strong enough in this patch to be viable because shes great at snowballing champs and vision changes keep her from being tracked, helping her get in position to snowball.

I played Eve in KR Challenger I got about 48% win rate though ... but yeah.

And what? Only Elise and Lee Sin? Nunu jungling come to mind as well because it was used in OGN (aka LCK). Also Gragas, Nautilus, and many other utility cinderhulk champions come to mind because Bengi gets Sightstone on all of them. Also if you mean early pressure by after they reach level 6, then sure Diana and WW have early game pressure. One chilling smite is usually not enough for WW and Diana to secure a kill unless they're severely overextended or very low because it's not a Nasus wither.

Your comments on J4, Gragas, Sejuani needing chilling smite more than Lee and Elise doesn't really make sense. They're all mobile with CCs. I forgot when Gragas was changed from AP Mid to a bruiser, but J4 and Sejuani were definitely effective junglers before they even had chilling smite in the game. Chilling smite was always a preference and still is. Like how right now, TiP Rush will get Tracker's Knife on Lee but Bengi and Sbenu Flawless will still get sightstone with Stalker's Blade. Before the patch Rush would always get Stalker's Blade or Trailblazer on Lee but some other high elo junglers would get Skirmisher's. To see J4 with trail blazer, just watch SKT vs KOO Game 2 of the finals.

Viable devo picks: Tryndamere, Jax, WW, Xin.

And at this point I'd like to say I just saw your caveat about "viable junglers in competitive terms." In competitive terms ... this patch means nothing. Your experiences in "diamond" NA solo queue with Eve means nothing. You cannot say there are 2 effective jungles since patch 5.22, because no meaningful competitive play will come out of pre season, when the game has changed drastically in just one patch. Competitive play resumes after the pre season, when the game is stable and more balanced.

While I don't dispute that Evelynn is god-like if she gets ahead, she can't get ahead now. Her early clearing is absolutely bottom of hell's gutters bad. Without a leash she can clear exactly 1 camp. One. And it isn't a buff. If she gets a leash, she can clear 2 camps, one of which can be a buff.

So cleared 2 camps go back to heal.... not enough gold to buy anything except potions. Go back out... clear 2 more camps. Maybe 3. Go back again, buy the other starting jungle item because you can't afford your tier 2 jungle item.

Please do not play Evelynn in ranked. You will get curb-stomped by the opposing jungler if he/she has any clue what they are doing.

Funny... this was a diamond match I played last night... I stomped the game so hard inside of 4 mintues that lee and trundle both afked...

Whats that about not playing eve in ranked?

Sorry I don't know how to work gyazo better. I only just noticed the attachment add to a post is now gone.

I can perform a full clear without any leash whatsoever. I'll try to get a video up in a bit.

Here you go. There are some weird jitters occasionally, but it should do the job. EDIT: For some reason the Youtube video was taken down. I'll upload it somewhere else while I figure things out.

I'm a person who mains eve, have tons of different ways i play her, she is my most versatile champ, i usually always main her Strait AP, and I can change my builds during the game if I need be. Yes they still nerf the shit out of her but she is still my main go to jungler, for me at least she can beat up fiddle j4 rek and shaco. with her w you can escape soft cc and with her q you can skirt around melee champs most often then not. she still has merit for me at least and I'm probably never going to stop maining her

Niyumi2 votes

Evelynn is FAR from useless. If you build her properly and know how to exploit her strengths, she is incredible, with ganks as strong as a master Shaco. She can't split very well, and can't clear well until Sheen / Glaive, but she has really good level 2 ganks if you get a leash.

She has really, really weak early clears, but she's otherwise strong.

See, unlike most champions, Evelynn requires a brain and effort to use effectively -- and I know most League players can't put in effort if their life depended on it, not even the "pros."

Uh, the only reason I can think of is if you want to invade the enemy jungler at level 1 while they do their first camp. Besides that, you've got me.

lol'd, Evelynn is semi-regular ban and uncommon pick at Diamond level.

she needs to get fed or she doesnt do much since she doesnt have much cc outside of her slow in high level of play they should all know how to ward properly and know not to push too far or did i get high elo players wrong?

Shes still top tier jg at high level play. Only issue is lee and elise are totally out of hand on this patch. Those two way out class every other jungler... again... for the umpteenth time in 5 years we have lee and elise. Why we reverted to season 2 and 3 and stagnated jg diversity with the patch changes is beyond me.

I foresee Elise nerfs and (judging from the pattern) probably a slight Lee buff if history repeats itself.

I fully expect both to see nerfs to their early game prowess before January tbh. They are head and shoulders above the rest of the jungling crew at the moment. If we get vision and itemization changes we may see only indirect nerfs.

I doubt it, this has already happened before a couple of seasons ago during a fierce competition between Lee and Elise.

It went something like this Community: "Rito, Elise is the only jungler that can stand up to Lee, pls do someting" Rito: "Ok we take care of it" Next patch, brutally assaults Elise with the nerf bat Community: /Facepalm

Cloud2731 votes

If we want Evelynn buffs, Riot will have to change how her stealth works. Even as an assassin, you can't have perma stealth AND burst. It's jut not going to happen.
