I have a lot of trouble dealing with a mid-late game Vladimir, I beat him in lane, but then he starts scaling and he's very hard to keep down. How do I play around him? And what counters him?
THIS IS NOT A QQ POST, I KNOW VLADIMIR HAS NICE COUNTERPLAY AND INHERENT WEAKNESSES.
Nanuk Pihoqahiak1 votesYou beat him early on. He has a ten second cooldown on his Q at level 1, which is really his only for of lane harass. Try not to stay inside of his range too often as he'll wear you down with Tides of Blood. Someone like Swain or even a well played Jayce can dominate him. Vladimir will typically build a lot of CDR early on to alleviate his long cooldowns, so try to get as much of a lead as possible. If you know you're fighting him, you may want to consider Ignite if you're confident in your ability to push and or deny farm.

So you need to punish him hard before ... he heals a ton with q + 
so you need to think about ways shut that down ...

other than that, play a champion with hard engage and keep engaging him starting from level 2 
xl Kirito lx1 votesSwain doesn't counter him. He might counter a bad Vladimir player, but once Vlad buys specters cowl, Swain has 0 kill potential. The logics the same with executioners calling. It doesn't counter Vladimir, and you're paying 800g for a long sword.
For the most part, once Vlad has WotA + Ionian + Defensive item, he wins most 1v1's on equal ground. You have to devote 2+ people to him, same way you would a Nasus or Darius. If you're trying to 1v1 at that point, avoid fighting in minion waves. In team fights, Vladimirs going to try to stay in the middle and AOE. Don't let him get off a multi-target ult, try to focus him down whenever possible.
Counters, Morgana and Fiddlesticks late game. Vladimir loses lane to most top laners early. Just have to consistently all-in him whenever possible.

Out range him, Out kite him, out poke him.
Masala Chai1 votesI've tried that with Lulu, Glitterlance outranges him, kiting doesn't really help when Glitterlance is on CD, and he sustains pretty well if there is a creep wave he can vamp off of.

I'm looking for a specific champ that counters his kit, as well as what to do when I don't have said champions on my team thanks to Zed/ Yasuo spammers, so far I'm getting a lot of Swain.

That's a fairly big if, Vlad's sustain requires him to be attacking. If your poking and wining trades, you should be able to zone him off CS.
Vlad doesn't really have hard counters. (Riot doesn't like hard counters in general.) Your best bet is to pick someone who can bully early game and snowball. If that doesn't work for you, maybe a high sustain Juggernaut. (Thinking along the lines of Mundo. Fight fire with fire.)
Ruin Lance1 votesfrom my experience fiora is his biggest counter. fiora just keeps doing damage to him before he can get his abilities off cooldown so he just dies.
