IronStylus has apparently left Riot

Masala Chai··181 votes·8,888 views

He changed his twitter from @RiotIronStylus to just @Iron_Stylus and his twitter bio says "Former Senior Concept Artist @ Riot Games. Currently spreading my wings in the big wide world." If you're reading this Bird Man, thank you for helping create some great looking champions over the years.

The Iron Solari will live on.

He's on the art team, and worked on Quinn, and concepted the following skins and splashes.

Ahri (Classic) Braum (Initial-CeeCee) Diana (Classic, Lunar Goddess) Fiora (Classic, Classic VU) Garen (Steel Legion) Graves (Classic) Leona (Classic, Iron Solari, Pool Party, PROJECT) Lux (Steel Legion) Master Yi (Classic VU) Quinn (Classic) Sejuani (Classic, Classic VU) Skarner (Classic) Sivir (Classic VU) Talon (Classic) Trundle (Classic VU, Traditional) Viktor (Classic) Volibear (Classic) Xerath (Classic)

Wait, how did he diss Zeronis? And more importantly WHY? Vi's one of the coolest female champs :I

IronStylus was one of the main voices of the "stop making women super-sexy if it doesn't fit their character," which is basically Zeronis's entire schtick.

Plant monster? Sexy lady. Spider monster? Sexy lady. Christmas-themed assassin? Pole-dancing sexy lady.

So the two just naturally clashed in artistic sensibilities.

I really wished this is how the majority of people would see that situation. Two different artists with two different beliefs in their directions. Nothing wrong with that and they're allowed to disagree. I think they were both awesome and did a great job in their work.

(woooh almost typed all caps fu caps lock) elise kinda fits the bill for her character and lore, she seduces men into her cult >.>

That is because Elise is based on a Japanese mythological creature, its represented in Inuyasha and a number of other anime if I remember right.

Some other Elise facts: Her original artistic interpretation was a Victorian art style with a parasol (I would kill for that as a skin), and she got voted into the game by popular demand.

This is what wikipedia has on the Japanese myth: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jor%C5%8Dgumo

Pretty ironic coming from IronStylus... lol

Tiny Trickster8 votes

Wow in that case I love IronStylus. So many characteristics you can give a female champion yet "sexy" destroys them all. So cheap.

What are you? GAY!?

MetalGearTeemu2 votes

Oh my god not sexy traits, someone get that female into a burka already.

But have her kill 50 people, be unrepentant evil or insane, that's ok.

Tiny Trickster7 votes

There are more options besides completely covering up and overly emphasizing their lady parts... It gets old really fucking fast. I do respect Riot for having kept this shit to a minimum tho. Some games however...

MetalGearTeemu1 votes

Just as long as she has no sexy traits right? since you just said "sexy destroys them all".

Better make sure she conforms to your opinions of modesty or she has no value.

Biff Manly5 votes

I think it's more along the line of "we have enough of this already"

Sona, Ahri, Leblanc, Ashe, Akali, Evelynn, Elise, Zyra- just to name a few- are all running around in revealing clothing (or in Zyra's case, technically nude).

Then there are champs like Diana, Quinn, and (new) Sejuani that are still attractive and have decent figures without wearing a strapless dress or mini-skirt to show it off.

Why does Caitlyn fight crime in the dress she wore to her Junior Prom?

Dr Poro3 votes

Time to bring back the sexy champs!

The question is... Male or female? Taric

Is Zeronis still doing work for Riot? I'd love to see more champs/skins from him.

This is my best skin for Lux, she's such an amazing champion <3

The Whamboozler3 votes

Best? The generic space marine? To each his own, I guess.

LostFr0st7 votes

Best for barely-visible particles Yea, Steel Legion lux=best Lux

but legit, it's pretty nice.

The Whamboozler2 votes

I'm just not into the generic sci-fi style "FPS space marine" look. I dislike Steel Legion Garen for the same reason. I'd rather Spelltheif or Fu-fu the pretty pink princess skin over steel legion.

Aw man! Dude graced us with my boy Volibear <3 and my girl Quinn <3. And of course can't forget Leo! Good luck in your future careers Iron!

Let's not forget about the other good Rioters who had left us.

I miss Shurelia.... :(

ironstylus was actually a cool guy. I got to meet him in person at one of the events. Hes genuine unlike some people.

Walking Faces9 votes

What I always hated about IronStylus was that he was always so against creating sexy characters. I don't care about the whole argument he made that it "didn't fit their character," considering he was wrong about 99% of the time.

Now that he's gone maybe we can have an artist in charge that isn't afraid of creating sexy champs once in a while.

gatchi8 votes

theyre all sexy dude lmao what game are you playing

Volibear especially ;0

Thanks for Quinn. Shame you weren't able to finish the model rework.

All the best, parrot. Thanks for spending time with the community. #Samflash3

I don't either. I'm saying this because GD posted it almost a week ago.

Thank you Ironstylus for your years of service and awesomeness. You created my absolute favorite champion and made very high quality splash arts. It's a shame that Riot no longer has you to help make their game art great. You will be remembered.

YCitizenSnipsY2 votes

The artist they have now are better than him. There recent splashes for trundle, poppy, and nidalee are the best they have ever released.

Penguin, Lyte, now Iron Stylus? Why are all my favorite Rioters leaving?!

Karn Bishop11 votes

Well if you knew ahead of time that the titanic was sinking would you

A: walk into the deepest part of the ship where you will drown B: Load up an escape boat with food water flares then lower it and paddle away

though i would argue that Lyte is a large reason the titanic is sinking in the first place.

the Anarchit3cht3 votes

Well duh. Why do you think he left so abruptly? He blew a hole in the hull and left everyone else to deal with his shit storm.

Beached Manatee4 votes

If I knew that the Titanic was going to sink, I would warn the captain to change course and avoid the iceberg. The first option is just stupid and the second is so self-centered.

Myozthirirn2 votes

In this little story, iron is the iceberg

LankPants5 votes

And the captain would ignore you, just like Riot would.

Actually if the titanic had hit the iceberg head on it wouldn't have sank nearly as fast, not to mention splitting in two because of the bulkheads filling. The reason it sank was because the hull of the ship was gutted open by the iceberg that was underwater. Only a small tip of the iceberg was above the surface. Back then they didn't have sonar or any way to tell what was under the water. Sadly since they were so unprepared many lifeboats flipped because of overcrowding.

MonkeyMadness1 votes

Didn't Lyte leave a while back too. Might be behind the times with that. If that's true I wonder if Riot is finally starting to crumble due to some of the "questionable" decisions they've made recently (ie Dynamic Queue).

What? Are you telling me that if a programmer at Apple died, it would have the same impact as Steve Jobs' death? There is a reason these people are getting public acknowledgement and it's because they are "more important". Even if this importance is purely perceptive and not really functional, losing a figurehead in this manner is very detrimental to public image.

billxx3 votes

To be fair, Steve jobs didn't do shit at Apple, just took the credit.
