Remind me why Vi and Jarvan both have 20+% armor shreds, two aoe CCs, and %health damage

On top of having initiation range from over 1000 range when using their double gap closers, innate attack speed, stupidly high AD ratios, and no counterplay ultimates

Remind me why people complain about Lee Sin when J4 and Vi exist as they currently do with 53% win rates

I could easily list off various mechanics from any champion in a way that makes them look OP.

How about a tanky ranged champion who's auto attacks reduce your damage from attacks and abilities? He's got an AoE dot with 20% armor shred, and any champion effected by it gets to deal with unmissable, low CD Qs with an 85% AD ratio. He has built in slows, a shield, and a 1 second suppression that displaces his target. Sounds pretty strong, right? Well that's what happens when you take a champion's mechanics out of context. Because they're fighters.

The role revolves around champions that do well in extended engagements. Vi's armor shred and %health damage takes 3 hits to apply. Jarvan's %health damage only applies to a given target once every 10 seconds or so, and his armor shred is also his engage - if you used it to initiate, you won't be able to shred for a bit.

And Vi doesn't have an AoE CC, what are you talking about?

Actually she kind of does, she can knockback/interrupt an entire team while ulting.

The forums constantly call Lee Kick AOE CC, why wouldn't they consider Vi's to be? Her Q can hit multiple champions and so can her ult.

Re: her ult, you're right, I forgot about that. But her Q doesn't hit multiple champions - it stops on contact with the first. Minions yes, champions no.

Her Q can also hit multiple champions, if they are near each other. You can test this with friends.

Ah, okay. Didn't know that.

...I stand by my point that the original post is way oversimplifying the situation, though.

The forums also oversimplify Lee Sin.

Jarvan = tanky. Vi is not Jarvan has harder cc that can knock up and lock down multiple people. Vi cannot. Vi needs to proc her 3rd passive to shred armor which requires sticking to enemy after you ult. Jarvan can you lock you down. If Vi builds full damage she will die if she engages wrong unlike jarvan that just need 1 damage item and tank to be a huge team fighter and engager.

Vi Is not OP you can dodge her Q and her ult is crap if you can run away after. Or even flash towards your team to catch her out.

JarvanIV On the other hand jarvan is a massive tank with armor shred, extremely hard cc and good damage even if he is a straight tank.

No counterplay ultimates.

Jarvan's ultimate can be flashed out of, dashed out of, even tumbled out of.

For about half the champions in the entire game the only way out is a 5 minute cooldown.

j4s OP ultimate has like a one minute cooldown. He can cheese half the champions in the game 4 times for every flash cooldown.

Because that's their kits. Next question!

Yep... they have both historically been OP, and incredibly hard to deal with for years.

Try laning against a good Vi bottom lane in Dominion some time.

It's a thing of nightmares.
