Lock champions from Ranked you've never played before hand.

I just played with a Jhin, who has never played Jhin before EVER, in ranked. He had no concept on what to do with the champ besides Qing. He even cancelled his own ult cause' he didn't even know how it worked.

There should be a feature that locks champions from you being able to play them in ranked if it is your first time playing them, maybe even until you've played them with a certain amount of hour time. Like you have to accumulate so-and-so hours on a champion to be able to further play them in ranked.

I really hate hearing my jungle go "first time Shaco!" and not actually be trolling. It penalizes a whole team with losing ranked points because ONE player is completely ignorant of their champion choice.

I disagree with this, bigly. Adding more restrictions in ranked just to save your ELO skin is pretty selfish. You want to use your ban, then use it, but you can’t prevent folks from choosing whoever they’ve unlocked or paid for

i play on my smurfs a lot (mastered almost every champion) and i consistently do well if it's my first time on that champion on that account. I've cancelled my own ult as jhin like every time during a ranked game by mistake one time. still won that game probably (90% win rate as adc main) and i've really started to see people who are just like me in certain games like that. they have it so 20 champions and level 30 is enough for ranked. Would you consider changing it from lock certain champions to "30 champions and level 30"?

No, lock champions. Smurfs are bullshit, stay on your main. You're the reason lower elos are fucking crazy to get through. Cause 1 game I'll play against my own MMR, then the next play against a platinum MMR cause you have platinum on your main. That fucks over my MMR, it's bullshit.

And you think there aren't any smurfs in high elo? It happens everywhere and you won't get smurfs in every game.

Smurfs should be a bannable offense in my opinion. If you can't get good enough to climb the ranks without having to use a separate account and ruin others experiences by fluctuating MMR in disruptive patterns, you shouldn't be playing ranked period.

Know the funny thing is? I couldn't get gold on my smurf. i'm not good enough to repeatedly place high. i mess up my placements consistently because i'm inconsistent with my play. I abuse the meta to get ahead of people who try not to do that and they stick to one champion. Having said that i deal with people who are ~diamond/master and smurf in MY games too. think it's not frustrating? Smurfing happens everywhere and it's not my fault. Take your anger out on your teammates in game to show how toxic you really are :)

What if I want to first pick something for a teammate? I don't want to have to play every single champ in the game for X period of time (many of which are suited to roles I don't play/enjoy) just to be able to trade.

People legit first timing stuff in ranked is pretty lame, but the people who do that do tend to end up at relatively low elos, and if they don't it's because they actually were effective on their pick so it's not an issue. Those of us not first timing stuff should typically trend upwards past those sort. Feels pretty bad in the short term when we do get them, but ranked is a long term statistics thing anyway.
