Trolls hate to be trolled back; the irony of troll picking

Earlier today I had a Twitch jungle. He said he was totally legit... so I picked Garen support. He was incredibly pissed.

Another time way back I had an AP Nautilus mid. I responded with Taric ADC. He was incredibly pissed.

Yet another time I had an Ashe top. I responded with Sona mid. He was incredibly pissed.

Trolls absolutely hate it when you troll them back. They only get off if you are playing serious and lose. If you are trolling right back they can't handle it. Just a protip if you really want to piss them off. Just do what they're doing, but better.

Had a Janna jungle awhile back, but didn't get a chance to counter-troll pick, I would have totally gone AP Draven with Lich Bane.

There's no point in trying to argue with this guy. He just picks and chooses parts of your argument that he can offer some, how do I put this, possibly effective arguments. I one time put up my side of the argument and he ignored it for a day, just looking at other parts that weren't completely facts but still made more sense.

When I said, "please stop using words like destroyed and obliterate when giving your argument, as it makes you look immature," he selected the "please stop using words" part and called me a troglodyte or something along those lines.

It is ironically trolls and troll supporters that do not know what I am saying.

The argument is very straightforward; If you troll pick, I will respond and YOU will rage. Your trolling will backfire, now a lot of trolls and troll sympathizers will argue that trolling is okay as long as the troll is having fun, now I don't believe this is a valid argument IN RANKED. So if you want to ruin a game , I will join your style and ironically, deny you your fun because trolls only have fun if they're ruining someone else's time.

It's not complicated.

Gonna try an offer an actual argument on his behalf.

If we define trolling as simply picking offmeta (which it isn't, obviously), he was responding to offmeta with offmeta. However, the other player would get pissed at him for picking offmeta which is completely hypocritical. Ofc this is true to a lesser extent with some of his examples (AP Maut mid is way more viable than ADC taric) but with, say, the Ashe top, his pick was more legit but he got flamed anyway.

Ofc they might just have gotten angry because it was obvious he was doing it to spite them.

I agree with you that him picking the off meta champ is itself not the problem, the problem is this;

he was doing it to spite them.

For the same reason intentionally feeding is trolling but unintentional feeding is not. Picking an off-meta champ, not because you think it will do well, but because you think it will annoy your own teammates and lower your team's chances of winning, is trolling.

I would likely be fine with a mid sona by itself. But if they picked mid sona and said, "Since you picked veigar support I'm going to troll too", they come off as a child throwing a temper tantrum.

They are not trolls. Most people who play things like Twitch jungle and Sona mid are actually Twitch and Sona mains who consistently do well with their champions. I have no problem with going Garen support if you are actually trying to win the game but if you are doing it just to make someone else mad I hope you get a well deserved ban.

Twitch's win-rate in the jungle is currently 55% in NA.

I'm not sure how common a pick it is at the moment, but it definitely isn't a troll pick.

Twitch jungle is actually a thing, not a troll pick. I don't know nauts kit enough to comment on the mid game. Ashe top can work, but sona mid isn't really a troll pick.

But at some level I feel with you. If someone bans my intended pick, I play kalista with ghost and ignite with an aggro play style.

Garen support has absolutley no merits as a support. You have no form of hard CC, (and a silence doesn't count as hard CC) no form of heals or shields for allies, and other than your ultimate, no AP scaling. Garen is possibly the worst choice for a support you could ever have, especially if you build him AP.

Twitch on the other hand does have a good counter jungling and ganking tool thanks to his camofloge ability. Plus, like Kindred you can always kite the camps.

You can clearly see why AP Garen support, or AP Garen in general is trolling, and why Twitch jungle has a 55% winrate in NA right now.

Nautilus full combo does 1023 + 240% AP damage which is very viable. If you compare to another AP mid like Orianna, she does 730 + 190% AP damage with a full combo.

Twitch jungle is legit... You're the one that's clearly trolling. I usually play Shaco support and do rather well with it (I'm Bronze though, so that might explain why it works). People sometimes ban him or tell me to not pick him because they have no clue.
The moral of the story is: don't fuck with people, they often pick things for a reason.

I might go for the argument of magic penetration with sorc shoes on Garen for his ult, but AP is 100% wasted on him because he has no AP scalings. I am fine with the Garen support as long as you actually try to help and not be a total douche about it which you obviously are.

First of all, Twitch jungle is a legitimate pick; I play it a lot, and do quite well. ADC's top lane are also meta; I play Vayne top a lot and love it.

You're just screwing your team even more by doing this. My philosophy: You've played games when one person is doing absolutely horrible, right? Yet sometimes you still win. It's perfectly possible to win if one person isn't doing so hot (provided it isn't the jungler because they sway everyone on the team). But when you start trolling, it's now TWO people who aren't helping. So you're essentially playing a 3v5. You essentially forfeit a game just to "get back" at someone. Who cares? They're a person on the internet that wants to troll people, at worst, but likely they just want to try out an off-meta pick. And that is PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE in blind. (If it's ranked, then I understand more, but you still shouldn't be "counter-trolling".)

Take satisfaction that the troll will stay in Bronze for eternity. You won't even have to sacrifice a game for it.

You can do this if you want to, but you'll lose a lot of winnable games. I tend to play off-meta, and about 10% of the time someone will think I'm trolling and troll... THen by midgame I'm like 5-1 with lots of assists, but they're feeding, so it's a loss. Am fine with that (I play for fun, not to climb), but those counter-trolls sometimes get salty about it.
