When you're trying to get an S as a jungler

Ok sure but why··83 votes·4,147 views

Mid: HEY CAN I HAVE BLUE Me: Sure thing ADC: DO YOU MIND IF I TAKE YOUR BIRDS Me: Alright Support: Hey good job going 13/1/7 Me: Thanks, I hope I get my last S this game

Riot: You get an S-, not enough CS for that S man

wow

No wonder people are so toxic

I do wonder sometimes about the weight of cs on mastery scores... is especially aggravating on Howling Abyss.

FilDaFunk12 votes

Poke? No thanks, I need CS for an S.

Unvictus1 votes

That's not really that much of a problem on ARAM as you don't get mastery lvl 6 &7 tokens on ARAM. Only thing getting an S does is get you a chest. And if you're like me you have way more chests than you know what to do with and not enough keys.

ModKnightsKemplar5 votes

See, I'm the opposite. I have 12 keys and no chests right now, so I'm always a little annoyed when I get an A+ on aram with some rando champ I never play.

Unvictus4 votes

Oh really!? Wanna trade? Lol

ModKnightsKemplar2 votes

I wish we could lol

Iźuku Midoriya2 votes

let me guess, you only play arams? My brother has like 76 key fragments and no chests

ModKnightsKemplar1 votes

Mostly ranked, actually. I just play pretty regularly, and usually with the same 5 champs or so. shrug

I Like Teemo1 votes

12 keys and no chests? dud i have like 27 chests and im already melted through my 4 free keys for the month

Cereal4201 votes

wtf howwwww

I Like Teemo1 votes

i have enough champs and play them all enough that i get S's frequently... basically if the champ is a mage, play support and take ignite... you get an S if you go 1-8/0/10-20 basically

and whenever a chest comes off the 6 day cooldown i earn it straight away

Cereal4201 votes

same lol. i have like 40 key fragments and no chests because i only get S alot on 2 champs but i only play those 2 champs

I don't even know what has the weight? Score on ARAM feels random. I can go like 20/3/10 with barely any cs and get A+, then I once played as Ryze, didn't really think I had spectacular score in anything and somehow got S- (or maybe even S).

Danjeng1 votes

Mastery scores are relative to champion. Most Ryze players don't do very well, so you can easily obtain an S. For example, I usually get good scores on Urgot. I kid you not, I once got an S- for going 3/4/? as Urgot ADC, while having mediocre CS.

It Hertz When IP4 votes

Even Riot's mastery system isn't sure what to do with Urgot.

Elikain2 votes

On every champion i own but i don't have an S- on, i get A+ at most on ARAM. On every champion i don't own, i get S- after a few tries. When i play with friends and they get an S- or more, Riot gives me a champion i don't own or have a chest on already so no chests for me...

We really need that Mastery Score transparency in the near future as it's really bad when you don't really know in which area you need to improve in. You just don't know how close you were cutting it and just how much better you need to get in order to nab that S.

AwesomeGuyDj1 votes

They wont release the formula for calculating because they dont want people to play for certain things (I.E cs)

Elikain1 votes

Well, i understand that part. If they did, people would play only for the stats and grades, not to win. If you can get an S either way, why play for the quality when you can just inflate your score and pretend you did good when in actuality, you never did anything but farmed lanes all game to hit that CS score for example?

But i think that they said they do think they can be more transparent when it comes to mastery scores when they update the system. It's on their to-do list, i don't think it's a priority at the moment.

NAY Wrecksauce17 votes

since when does your team ask for your camps....

TheSingularity5 votes

When I tell them to and deny them until they comply. They don't ask and I secure it. They ask without demanding and they get it.

NAY Wrecksauce7 votes

In my games if the mid laner wants blue buff he spam pings for blue and if you don't give it he will either flame you for 5+ minutes, afk, run it down mid a couple times. In mid game if you aren't near your buffs or camps and your team wants them they take it no matter how much you ping them.

It Hertz When IP4 votes

I'm in Wood V. My camps never get stolen, but only because my teammates don't remember they exist.

People spam "on my way" to blue buff when I'm clearing it and then I take it myself. Then they flame lmfao.

I main mid lane and I've never asked for blue buff in my life. If it's mid-late game and it's sitting there, I'll solo it, but never in laning phase Why can't people just manage their mana better

Blue buff isn't even a necessity. If anything, it just makes the enemy jungler want to gank you even more

TheThundersRoar1 votes

It's true that the blue buff is at the jungler's discretion to give away, since sometimes the jungler badly needs the exp/gold or the mana. However, you should realize that sometimes it's better to give blue to the mage.

They don't need blue, but a well-used blue can be used to completely demolish a lane. Hell, I sometimes give FIRST blue to the level 2 Ahri and watched hell break loose. I've also had to lane against the level 3 Xerath with blue and trust me, it ain't fun.

I never said I never give it I give blue based on my mid laner's skill. I ONLY tell you to come to mid if I see you're doing well or going even with the enemy laner. Chances are, if your jungler doesn't tell you to get blue, he doesn't think you're worthy of it.

When I'm too busy ganking to say "I need CS too"

Durzaka7 votes

The mastery system really needs to be fixed for Junglers. The weight of CS is way too heavy.

Ive had a game where (it ended at 20) I was like 9/2/8 as Lee Sin. But I only had about 70 CS. But I had gotten 2 dragons (solo), a Rift Herald, and had ganked every lane like a mother fucker.

Only got an A+.

Lee is a hard champion to get an S with because he has a HUGE userpool and a pubstomper if you're good at him. Because there are so many samples (and also many samples with good results from Lee mains that stomp random games) it's harder to stand out and get that S.

TheThundersRoar1 votes

It's not just Lee, it's any jungler that doesn't farm their asses off. Try going 10/0/15 on Volibear but with 40 CS and see if you can even get an A+. I'd know, I mained him and gotten these scores for half of season 6 and never hit rank 6.

This hasn't really been the case in my personal experience, as I got Lee from mastery 4 to 7 in one day.

(Then again I always rush tiamat and farm like crazy)

Quil Evrything4 votes

you're doing it wrong. you're supposed to make up cs, by covering lanes when laner needs to back.

GayFluffyUnicorn1 votes

As if jungler understand that concept. Can't tell how many times i got ganked, killed in midlane and my jungler then does raptors and watch two people killing full health midtower 1 in one wave. Or when i TP from top to bot for some sick LC$ playZ and see my jungler at krugs backporting instead of covering top tower which in return will be taken...

TheThundersRoar1 votes

Your junglers were probably being idiots in a good chunk of these times. However, you have to understand that when jungling, you can't just show up wherever, or you get punished.

If I show my face in a lane to cover, I immediately lose map pressure. A good enemy jungler can take dragon, gank the other lanes, or counter-jungle. Knowing where I am, he can predict where I'm going, ward up, and warn his laners. Or he can farm safely and back to buy.

If I show up in a lane to cover, I am also wasting a lot of time. If it's 7 minutes, dragon is up, bot lane needs a gank, and my red buff is up in 30 seconds, I need to back right now. I need to hit red in time, reach level 6, gank bot, and contest dragon. I really, really can't afford to go mid and kill those 5 minions. The tower will just have to eat it.

That being said, there is no excuse for a jungler who let a tower die because he wanted to kill those baby raptors.

GhostOfTsushima3 votes

Jungle Camp are still Jungler camp, if you steal camp, thats like stealing cs in lane

The only time you should take cs from Jungler is when lane phase is over or the jungler agree to let you have it

I wonder how my laner would love it if I just decided to go take their cs in Lane

Ok sure but why2 votes

The difference is my birds are just sitting there, and the 1/2/4 ADC decides to take it while I'm off getting a triple kill somewhere else

Like thanks

It is inefficient to not use the camps. If the jungler is pushing bottom lane and you are walking by red buff to go from middle lane to top lane there is no sense in not taking it. If you don't take it, it will just sit there for another 2+ minutes collecting dust. That is the same as not using your ult to secure a kill because you want to save it for a later time. If you can get gold while putting something on cooldown then do it.

Its a lot more efficient for a jungler to clear the jungle because they get something like an additional 50% gold. Its generally good practice to; A) Ask for buffs. B) Ask for camps. C) Only take camps if you need that extra hundred gold for your next item

But dont steal camps, dont steal buffs, dont steal jungle obhjectives, and dont steal scuttles. The jungler needs that gold a LOT more than you do unless their name is Elise or Lee-sin

Aamano3 votes

i tried over and over, months and months to get an S for my Evelynn i'd go 15/0. i'd get a Pentakill nope. its only worth an A

finally i got pissed and started queuing up as Eve Mid 2 games later i had my last 2 S tokens i got the same kills and same ganks but i was judged as a laner not as a jungler

PrinceOfStorms1 votes

That's because your grade is determined based on how people do with your champion in your role.

Sinlaire1 votes

As a Vi main I suspect your problem is along the lines of my problem when trying to get an S in the jungle.

The only people that play Vi and Eve are people who know how to play them. they aren't just a "free week lets try it" champion by any means. The only people who play them are the ones that are gonna play them 25-100+ games or play something else entirely.

Which means you dont get noobs and casual players hoards dragging down the skill ceiling for high level grades. I cant remember the last time i got anything less than a B+ on Vi even in my worst games and i've gotten maybe a dozen S- games since turning Mastery 6 but i'm still a single token short.

I might try to cheese it out in a top lane game but that feels cheap. i want to earn it. I earned my final Mastery ^ token playing ADC Vi for fun and stomped in a normals. I struggle to do it again when i can't earn it where she's "supposed" to be.

OMGSoAnnoying1 votes

Yeah, there are some jungler champs with very dedicated player bases.

You see a lot of Master Yi, Zac, Lee Sin, Elise, Jax and Gragas, but when you see that Vi, Eve, or maybe Xin Zhao... be worried, some of them really know that champ. And yes, harder to get an S with them because of it, but it makes ya feel so damn good when you get one :)

ashleytohl1 votes

Did you queue as mid lane but jungled? Or did you actually play mid?

Aamano1 votes

Oh i played Mid. I load out with a Dark Seal and farm a bit until im lv.2 In between farming, i always back away and go invis

come lv.2, i gank whichever lane is set up. Playing Eve mid is sort of like Ivern jungle with Ivern, you have 2 supports with Eve mid, you have 2 gankers. Eve can slip out of lane very easily and then can get to Bot or Top quickly because she's in the middle of the map

If everything goes as planned, you have a few ganks under your belt and a stacking Mejais (I play Eve as a bursty AP Assassin)

i've played Eve mid a few times and its always been successful

ashleytohl1 votes

I see! Very helpful information! I'll try this though the other day sometime after I responded back to you, I did get one S for mastery 7 token. lol. Usually if the game is really good to get an S, team surrenders early so it's not super easy. Do you mind letting me know the items you build as I usually build her straight AD or tank AD

Aamano1 votes

my default Jungle build is: item 3117item 1414 item 3146 item 3100 item 3116 item 3089 pretty much in order.

I get Gunblade for the mixed damage and so i can have sustain in and out of the jungle (i used to get old Rageblade) combined with Lich Bane is my primary burst Rylai for the slows on Q and Rabadons for a chunk of power

in Mid i swap out the jungle item for a Mejais but if i can't keep 20+ stacks, i get a Luden's Echo

playing her Mid is a gamble though, because if you fall behind its alot harder to catch up since you're going to be away from the lane alot

I always feel nervous when i use it because im not confident in it always succeeding lol, but on the rare occasions i've played it, it didn't let me down

Ra1uga3 votes

If there are any zed players out here, why do some of them get so sentimental if I dont give them a blue buff? Energy already regens fast enough and the cdr i guess? but i don't know too much on zed so help pls

I got an S- as Rek'Sai the other day while playing a completely average game, even slightly below average. The thing was however that I soloed two dragons and rift herald, so at least for junglers objective damage seems to play a large role in boosting your rating.

FortisDominus2 votes

No wonder I get 'S' from jungle all the time

Mid: Can I have blue pls?

Me: Did you pick jungle? then the answer is no xD

ADC: Can I have golems?

Me: even though you lost your turret in 7 minutes? you're good without them.
