Tell me one reason to reconect to a game

Arcane Blue Boi··270 votes·6,605 views

My pc crashed, i joined back to a game. I managed to catch up and we won the game. I got 20 mins 5 games leaver buster and still lost lp for that game Considering this, give me one good reason to reconect to the game.

Edit: downvote me to hell, im ok with that. This is one of those situations everybody would claim to do whats morally/socially/etc correct but if the situation actually came in they would'nt give a fuck about whats morally or socially correct.

Second edit: never thought a post of mine could get so uch atention, thank you all [slayer-jinx-catface]

Third edit: let me clear some confusion to all who try to pull the *insert outrageous voice ''oh but you need to leave S E V E R A L! times to get a leave buster, so yaknow, thats bullshit!!11''. I wont enter in long detail. Just consider this. I didnt play for 8 months, and i started playing again. The first game i went afk after those 8 months was a 20 min leave buster. So stop claiming the system to work as you want it to, and accept reality.

I think LeaverBuster should be less strict for people who rejoin.

Recently, there was a MAAJOOR fiber cut here in the southeast that affected several ISPs. It was due to the winter storm. Infrastructure in the southeast doesn't really do well in the cold (we're very, very resistant to burying our data lines, keeping them on telephone poles :P). This fiber cut was a LONG way from where I live. It was a major line further up north in Georgia. But the fiber failure affected people far away from the cut, from NC all the way down to Alabama and Florida.

I came back to the game, caught up, contributed, and even WON.... aaaaaaaaaaand... I was penalized and received nothing for that game (it was norms) due to "AFK behavior". Now apply this to a ranked game. To work extra hard to catch up and receive nothing because of an automated system.

I don't support Leavers... but I don't think the automated systems should be so strict as they are now. There are times when there are just extenuating circumstances. Instead, the systems should only automatically take action if someone reports.

yes i agreeeee. I have some wifi crashes (not a ton) but reconnecting would make sense. ESPECIALLY IF SOMEONE DECIDES TO TROLL YOU AND SAY THAT YOU SAID "fuck this" and left in dm's, and you reconnect and someone says "fucking afk's" when we lose

I had to afk briefly to settle my baby back to sleep, wasn't even gone long enough to get the in game pop up telling me I was afk. Sat down, told them why I was afk and apologized.

Team called me a pussy and told me to punch my baby back to sleep. I asked for a x9 and said I'm going afk for good.

I'm not looking forward to any potential punishment from Riot but there are times when I think its absolutely acceptable to afk. I may have "ruined the game for 4 innocent people" but if someone's language and behavior is so disgusting it ruins my personal experience I have the right to remove myself from it.

Did the whole team say that, or just one guy? Because I'm totally anti-"Fuck the whole team because this one guy was mean to me" mindset.

On point, there shouldn't be an LP penalty for coming back to a DC'd game and winning. Not even if you rage quit. There should be harsher ban-type penalties (not LP penalties) for obvious rage-quits, though, and you should still report the guy that left.

You are not better than them if you do this. Yes they are douche bags and they shouldnt say that, but you afked not for long as you say and you could easily win that. Yet you decided to give up. This is how people who go troll or afk because they didnt get role they wanted act.

Personally, I don't think it's unreasonable to either do what you had to do (I'm guessing you put your baby to sleep before you started), nor is it unreasonable to be upset that someone went AFK, whatever the reason. Even if your reason is, all things considered, a good one - that doesn't in any way mean that your team is not getting punished for it. Bottom line is that they were missing a player for however long, it really doesn't matter why.

So what should you/they do? It seems like you did the right thing, until you decided to AFK on purpose. If they are being assholes and ruining your experience, just put them on mute and report after the match. Otherwise you are making the game less fun for the enemy team as well, as I don't know a single person who thinks 4v5 is fun on either side. That would be following the summoners code, at least.

Because it's the right thing to do? I mean asking why you should return to help your team mates after putting them at a massive disadvantage at no fault of their own really demonstrates what kind of person you are.

if someone left there is probably a 90% the team with 4 will lose. Why even bother to join in and tryhard if you get the same punishemnt as you 'd get if you didnt.

What the actual fuck? The entire point of your thread is that you DCed, came back, and WON then you're immediately going to tell us coming back is a lost cause and you're going to lose anyway? What is the actual point of your thread?

Legitimately exactly what I'm talking about. Since you gain nothing personally you dont give a damn that there are 4 other people on your team that are losing LP because your computer crashed? Fuck em right? "Why even bother"? Cant even queue up for another game until that one is finished but might as well stay DCed lel

I play LoL so my team wins. If I was playing a game and my internet went out for 5 minutes, I would still return to the game as fast as I possibly could even if I knew damn well I was still losing LP. It's a little thing called empathy and caring for others.

Arcane Blue Boi15 votes

such bullshit, you dont play LoL so your team wins. You play lol because you enjoy it in the first place. It always comes down to ''you'' and ''i''. Because thats how human beings work. You dont install league of legends so you can become good and make your team win, you do so because YOU enjoy the game. Stop trying to claim everything you do is for the good of others, because that just isnt true.

Spirituality. Pursue yours and you will understand.

I mean, you have a point. Riot could do more to encourage people to behave properly by rewarding them for better behavior. But, as has been seen with the latest version of the honor system, they actually don't care much. They just program things into the game because they can sometimes. Yeah, they keep improving their game but there is a lot of fluff and uselessness instead of looking to make changes that matter like that one with the normal draft. People picking their slot on a team is great but they need to do more things like that.

If you win, you should gain LP, even if it's just 1. I don't see how that's hard to understand. Disconnects while troublesome shouldn't change that.

Good luck getting them to admit it, though.

Almo29 votes

Agreed. Its frustrating. Losing LP after making a real committeemen to win and then losing LP regardless is really bad. Honestly if this happens to me, would drive me not to connect to a game the next time I disconnect.

Arcane Blue Boi17 votes

thank you for understanding my position instead of just saying OMG THINK ABOUT YOUR POOR TEAM!. It is not motivating rejoining a game if you aint getting anything from it

ˉˉˉˉˉˉ13 votes

Yeah no fuck that shit, I have gradually stopped playing League because of stupid shit like this, among others.

If you lose either way, might as well fucking take a nap or play something else or do fuck all. I'm not wasting 20 more minutes playing a game tryna win if I will get leaverbuster and LP loss either way.

Even if you AFK on purpose, this is in no way justified, since you are legit the reason your team won, since you could have decided to say "fuck it" and went to bed. But you didn't, you pulled through even after the disadvantage of XP and gold, and still won.

Actually fuck that shit. This is doing the opposite of encouraging teamsmanship. I have so much more to say but it's 4 AM

DemainaNyx11 votes

Yeah, if your connection just dies, you rejoin and win, at least give reduced LP points or something. Like, if you should get 20, only give them 10 or something.

That makes literally no sense that you have a random power outage, reboot and rejoin, only to be punished for something beyond your control. If anything, the fact you came back at all should give you something over just leaving permanently. I mean, this system basically treats 5 minutes of AFKing the same as 50 minutes of AFKing when most will tell you there's a big difference.

Resolution9 votes

Don't reconnect if you know your past the leaver timer. Your being punished the exact same for actually trying to reconnect and be there for your team. Enter the game and inform the team your past the leaver timer and that you would have loved continuing and finishing the game, but instead Riot no-longer considers you part of the team and therefore there on there own.

Harsh, but why spend another 20 minutes playing a game your already going to be punished for/gain no LP? You gain nothing by staying to win the game. The systems designed to let your teammates down anyhow? All four of them are meant to loose LP now because they'd rather you not re-connect and try.

I just had a game in plat where my Varus adc rage quit level 2 after dying once.

Upon realizing we didn’t ff at 15 he joined in at 17 minutes while we were 4v5ing and working our asses off to win the game and got the victory

That’s why buddy.

Almo5 votes

Yup, I agree. this guy deserves to get every punishment. My point is for people that don't do it on purpose. You get leaver buster and** 0 LP** if they win the game.

I think the 0 LP is better because it encourages people to fully commit to help their team win instead of just giving up and not joining.

And you point, he should get punished but people coming back increases your win chance regardless. Even if he was just afk split pushing it was preventing the enemy from spliting and taking objectives while you guys could team fight.

Wimbledofy5 votes

He should get banned though anyways, who cares if someone like him got the lp from one game. He was on the winning team, so he gets lp that's how the system should work. He's toxic/intentionally throwing, he should be banned, that's how the system should work.

Sorry, don't buy it.

20 minute queue for five games means you left multiple games in a row. If your computer is that bad then League is not the game for you.

My suspicion is that you were tilted and left a few games and, sure, maybe one game your PC did actually crash, but that's not the exclusive reason that you got a Leaverbuster penalty and you know that. Stop trying to get sympathy from the Boards on a false premise.

LiL Bunnie FuFuu2 votes

I can leave one game and get stuck in 5 20 minute queue games. It isn't because I'm toxic (honor 5 and I rarely tilt) nor because I want to leave games. In fact today I reported someone who afk'ed entire game because our jungler's game crashed and it took them 15 minutes to reconnect. They could not have been more toxic about it. Rather I get placed in 20 minute queue because several months ago I left too many games due to a combination of IRL stuff taking precedence or my connection going out and refusing to come back at inopportune times.

Since then my connection has (largely) been fixed but I leave once in a while because IRL things demand it. I'd love to finish a game but sometimes I just can't. I don't see how its fair to punish me for things that are outside my control, nor do I understand why you're making assumptions that this guy is lying when he has a perfectly valid point.

Scary Door1 votes

{quoted}

You actually cannot. The system does not work that way. I have had friends that have left games and have not received a penalty, the only thing that happens is you get a message that warns you about leaving games and you must agree to not do it again by typing "I Agree". So long as you do not leave any more games for a fairly lengthy period of time then you will not receive any further sanctions. That's how the system works.

It isn't because I'm toxic (honor 5 and I rarely tilt) nor because I want to leave games.

Leaverbuster is simply about leaving games, period. Irrespective of your reasons, Leaverbuster flags you if you leave games repeatedly or even infrequently and you can get penalized... this does not apply to just ONE game, however.

I don't see how its fair to punish me for things that are outside my control,

I don't see how it's fair to play a game with someone that leaves for whatever reason. If you leave only one game, then the system won't punish you outside of the warning I mentioned, if you do it again or have a pattern of leaving games, then you get punished. As for the classic "things come up that take precedence", that's fine... if you're finding that this is happening frequently enough to where you are getting penalized for leaving games, then League is just not the game for you, simple as that.

This is a team reliant game that requires a certain uninterrupted time commitment, if you cannot fulfill that obligation or feel that there is a chance that you cannot, then do not play. You talk about fairness, but then fail to recognize the fairness regarding the other nine players that you punish by leaving (for whatever reason).

nor do I understand why you're making assumptions that this guy is lying when he has a perfectly valid point.

Because what he said doesn't make sense and if it doesn't make sense then it isn't true. You don't get penalized for leaving one, and only one, game.

LiL Bunnie FuFuu1 votes

"You talk about fairness, but then fail to recognize the fairness regarding the other nine players that you punish by leaving" I do recognize that but sometimes_ it is not in my control_. I have played thousands of games and rarely leave. I rarely leave because I do not like leaving games because yes, it does suck when people leave. Tell me, where in my post do I fail to recognize the unfairness from both sides?

Nop, 1 game is all it takes me from getting that punishment. And time wont solve that, cus i spent nearly 8 months without playing, and the first game i went afk (after playing again) i was banned already

Someone rage quits but sits in fountain occasionally moving in a circle to avoid afk detection

Gets no punishment and moves on to next game untouched

Guy has an innocent PC crash, reconnects 4 minutes later and tries really hard, carries team, recives 3 honors and is encouraging and positive to everyone

Gets 20 minutes added on to his next 5 queue times and a negative mark on his account

This system is so flawed its amazing

I remember in season 3 when I played a toplane game as malphite I suddenly lost internet 8 minutes in. After half an hour my internet finally was restored and I could reconnect to the game that was 40 minutes in. We won shortly after and I still got LP and no punishment.

League a few years back was so much better. Not saying it is fine to afk and return when you feel like so and I am not saying that I deserved to get the LP back then as I did nothing that counted for the win, but I say that it is wrong to take your lp and give you a punishment when you actually get back to the game and played a big role in winning the game.

Pale Pirate3 votes

It would seem that some have forgotten, but bans due to leaving happen only after an amount of leaves/afks. It sucks that you have been banned like that but you were on the tip of being banned for leaving anyway. The system's goal is to reduce leavers and I'm fine with that.

Two words, NET NEUTRALITY.

As the FCC rolled back 'net neutrality', ISP and cable providers will most likely throttle back gamers' connections to game servers. As this issue continues to gain optics by end-users and providers, the end of net neutrality will create increase in LB incidents. My hope is RIOT will recognize the players have no control of 'throttling' and 'prioritization' that will undoubtedly affect the entire fan base. In the next few months, RIOT should be monitoring this issue, CLOSELY, and return to modifying LB based on those findings. I suspect many fans will find their games cut short, disconnected, and even blocked to game servers as providers and ISPs begin implementing 'pay to play' bandwidth, or be stuck at the bottom of bandwidth ladder for your region.

The Pussiologist1 votes

you realize this is worse case scenario and if it even happens it wont be for months to years before its escalated to a point that wont matter because the only people who are screwed by this fantasy is people who are way too dependent on certain companies because of their geographical locations. This doesnt screw people who have options so I cant pretend to relate nor care or show compassion towards this fantasy that people exaggerate as if its happening tomorrow and companies are going to screw over customers in a way that forces them to jump ship and lose company integrity. I mean lets be real, no isp is going to self-sabotage its own profits.. stop the bullshit already.
