New keystone that converts auto attack into magic damage....

I was going through a post about bringing back arcane blade and some suggested maybe we could have a keystone that would convert basic attacks to magic damage.

I would love this on Diana or any mage who use there auto attack to proc additional magic damage.

Would this be op?

I can see crit ap GP coming back. It would add more customization.

What you guys think?

that would be kinda OP, ADCs could now take that and then you CAN'T build vs them. Maby if they did mage damage but not ALL magic damage

Didn't they add in an AP component of autos? I'm not sure if they did, but I remember reading it. That might be why they removed an Arcane Blade equivalent

You must be thinking about the towers. If you build AP, a portion of it is applied as bonus damage when you attack towers, so that AP champs can still push towers, and not only AD champs. But it's not for all auto-attacks.

Without thinking too far into it, I think it would be super imbalanced and promote some sketchy gameplay. Especially since the enemy team can't see those changes prior to loading in. Seeing an enemy team going largely AD champions provokes a certain type of pick. If half of those end up doing magic damage, it would really throw things off. ADC's doing entirely magic damage when the enemy expects AD, would be crazy strong, for example.

Well what if you make it scale off how much AP you have so it is really shitty on AD champs?

I mean, technically it could work? But part of what makes some champs strong is their ability to do a little of both.

I think it would be really difficult to balance. Hybrid champs would be totally locked into their magic damage side, you'd have champions like orianna doubling up on AP for auto attacks, and champions like tahm kench doing huge auto numbers.

I don't see it happening, but I like that you're thinking in terms of more than just "this attack does MORE DAMAGE." like our current keystones.

All auto attack damage?

That would have to be on the highest tier of mastery, tbh. Way too powerful. Hell, it would probably not even be 100% of the autoattack damage, precisely because of Diana and the likes. The most I could see is probably 50%, and even then it might be too much.

Maybe.
