SoloRenektonOnly1 week ago I think he is really bad lol. He doesn't do much compared to all the other tanky tops. He doesn't have hard cc and cant engage well and doesn't have enough damage to make up the difference. Also he gets kited really hard.
Hethalean2 votesGaren's changes as a juggernaut actually nerfed his damage in general. He only does more damage now if he's attacking his Villain. Garen's passive is extremely strong though.

Valexfor1 votesGaren as a tank it's pretty luckluster in general, he only brings more damage and a meath-shield (a sub-par one too). What you want from a tank is usually the ability to bring cc and strong peel which he lacks. Garen is stron only when you have some other source of hard cc (a nautilus, sona, nami, janna or some shit like that especially the tanky ones) since that way he can just dive head on and unleash his shitload of dps, but as main tank he is even worse than darius, the only juggernaut worse than garen at that is morde, but he has 3 times garen's damage and tankyness.

However, his damage actually scales now, and he ate a few nerfs for being too powerful after his rework.
