Why does Jayce have more level 18 health and armor than Jax

When one is a 1000+ range poke champ and the other is a melee autoattacker

Jax gets bonus armor and MR on his ult, the lower base amount is meant to give a clear weak point for the enemy team to take advantage of it being on cool down.

OK, I've said this before about Zed, Xin, and Annie. A move being on cooldown is something universal to every champ and IS NOT a weakness.

A jinx! with her ult on cooldown is much less hampered than an Ahri with her ult on cooldown. Obviously it's a weakness, but hopefully it should also be obvious that some champions are much more reliant on ults than others (compare: Malz vs Lux).

Except it is. There's a reason people try to bait out abilities, and it's not just for fun.

There's weaknesses inherent to a champion, and then there's situational weaknesses like cooldowns on spells, items, and the like. Could a different word be used to describe each of these? Probably, but seeing as how a champion is weaker without their ultimate than they are with it it fits.

You can keep fighting Jax only when he has his ult up if you want, I'll stick to the strategy of baiting out abilities and engaging when the enemy doesn't have them up.

Because Jayce has crazy long cooldowns and mana costs.

Jax's Q costs 65 mana

Jayce's Qs start lower but scale higher

Jayce's Ws cost 10 more mana than Jax's yes

Both of Jayce's Es cost less mana than Jax's E does

Jax's R costs 100 mana whereas Jayce's is free

So no I don't think Jayce's mana costs are insanely higher than Jax's

Did you just compare their ults? Where Jayce is a Stance Changer?

FalconPawwwwnch3 votes

Yes, because in a trade Jayce swaps to melee form using R , which costs no mana, and Jax uses his ultimate, which costs 100 mana

You can't just pick and choose things

I could also ask why Jax's ultimate costs mana whereas Kayle's doesn't, but that's a different topic

Well they are entirely different things. Jax already has the all powerful passive of his ult, and with the Added Armor and MR he gets he becomes quite the fighter. Jayce gets a bit of Armor from Hammer Stance, but a pitiful amount compared to Jax's.

Also, I will bring this up, because Jayce is just simply more complex. It took me awhile to actually learn his abilities properly with their synergy and timing to use them (The amount of times I've switched to Cannon Form when fighting is unbearable)

Jax, on the other hand, is just simple. Buff your next AA, Jump to target, Stay near target for stun, and rinse and repeat if necessary. Their is just a higher skill bar to fulfill with Jayce than there is with Jax, so Jayce gets the benefit of a bit more power and defense.

Jax has an ultimate. Jax's mobility is more flexible. Jax gets tanky stats from offensive stats. Jax will kill your carry, two towers and take dragon in the time Jayce waits for his gate to cooldown late game. Jax has AoE hard CC. That also doubles as AA immunity. And AoE damage reduction. Jax has 23.4 higher magic resist than Jayce in place of that 3.9 armor difference at level 18. Jax has more HP, armor and MR at level 1 than Jayce.

And yet, Jayce is in a worse spot than jax atm. Probably because Jayce sucks AND has a high skill floor while Jax just sucks but with a low skill floor.

(By sucks I don't mean they're not viable, just that it requires more effort to get less out of them than other champs. If you like the champ and main them, you'll probably still do well as you can with any champ.)

Agreed. Thank God Jayce is weaker now, he isn't nearly as contested as he was last season which means I get to play my main 85% of my games.

Jayce does not have an aoe stun, ward hopping, or true damage.

Different champions fill different niches and have different stats and abilities, who knew. You'd be better comparing Jax to Tryndamere, Master Yi, or Irelia. You know the other auto-attack based hyper carries rather than comparing him to an ad-caster.
