Zyra - Tweaked Passive

The majority of players diapproves of her current passive, as we can see here. I suggest this passive change over there and got positive feedback, I'ld like to discuss it in an own topic now.

If Zyra would die she transforms into a plant for 1s (+0.5s / 100 AP). While being a plant Zyra can't use her abilities, but creates a Thron Spitter at target location every second. After transforming back Zyra is left with 3% of her maximum health.

-> Her passive becomes more Aatrox/Karthus-ish rather than being just a weaker version of Kog Maw's. -> The duration as well as the damage of Thorn spitter scales with AP, making it weak on support but strong on midlaners -> The passive "compensates" for her insane squishiness and complete lack of mobility by delaying her death while being able to still DPS (Therefor she's basically a 1HKO after it ends)

...She can have the weed field generation passive with increased duration if she wants, but can she not get a revive?

As a Zyra main, I like this change to her passive.

But I can say it'll never be implemented because she already has another passive besides that after death skillshots, the built in CDR. I do not believe they will change her passive to what you suggested unless they take this away from her. But then again, I remember Phreak saying in a video (her champion spotlight I believe), that her design was based for a Mage that did not have to build CDR.

I just hate those games, where I end up with 2/3 deaths and feel like, oh, "Thankfully Riot gave her an after death passive. I really did use it when I was level 6 at dragon." It is counterintuitive if you go through matches without dying.

I mean, say if you are to die 5 times, and these deaths occurred at levels 6, 10, 14, 16, and 17. Her current passive is "you shoot a missle from your corpse that deals true damage scaled up with your level [80 + 20n, n = Zyra's current level]."

Sounds neat, some after death revenge. But wait, look at the levels I had died, @ 6,10,14,16,17. Assuming that these are a maximum 40 minute games. The only possible chance you can get "revenge" with her passive is at level 6 because not many champions have began stacking health (-tanks). And if you die at level 6, it's probably due to an engagement you performed as a support. So you can probably get a kill with it here.

But what about the other four levels, 10,14,16,17. Yeah, I feel it is useless. Throughout the game, if you have Zyra at a higher level, champions will have greater health as a level 16 than a level 6 unit. Past early game, this passive looses all meaning. I want something to be done about this. She is from a jungle, but does not implement this in her play style, sure her taunts do, but while snaring or knocking up opponents, it feels like you are a crazed gardener.

The build in CDR is what she gains by leveling her W. Not to mention that "as a compensation" most of her cooldowns (W E R) come at horrible long CD: She sacrifices a skill for it. It's not a free passive.

I'm going to have to agree and disagree with you. The lack luster passive (rise of the thorns) is the result of the built in CDR. But I'm going to point out, do you ever build her up to 40% CDR? At max CDR and max rank, her q-3 second cool down; w-8.7 seed refresh (though I feel it is 6sec due to memory); e-7.2 second cool down; r-66 second cool down.

Her q is easily spamable at 40% CDR. Her seeds refresh mid fight during engagements, and a 1.75 second snare with a cool down of 7.2 seconds. That's pretty damn great. And you say she compensates with long cool downs? Look at the scaling of q... 65% AP ratio. This is a great spell that is quickly cast able that does solid damage.

The snare is the only problem that I see. But instead of cool down reduction with the spell, the root duration is increased. You are complaining about long cool downs?

As a mid laner, you will be starting 5% with masteries and you will more than likely build unholy Grail or morellonomicon for the 20% CDR. Alright, we are at 25%. But then her w, sure, you won't max this until level 18 the majority of the time (again, as a Zyra mid laner) and you'll be placed at 35% CDR. The cool downs are nearly maxed out to be viable.

And then support Zyra? Oh, she can build all the CDR items she wants! I start 10% from masteries, then gain 10% from both crucible and locket. I'm set at 30% CDR. Oh. Now if you're ahead, you probably have more levels above your opponent. So getting you closer to 40%cdr with each rank in w.

In the end, I disagree with you that she has long cool downs. She is great at 40% CDR, but this because

Zyra pretty much needs a top-down rework if she's going to be brought up to par.

If she was to stay as-is, then I agree your passive suggestion is probably better than what she's got, but I don't think a revive/post-death passive makes sense on her in any way, shape or form.

I disagree with the top-down rework. She needs her plants AI fixed to be like Dinggers Turrets and more HPs. and she needs her passive reworked. Thats it.
