Can we change Poppy a bit?

So, after your gutting (not just a nerf) of Poppy... I just can't play her and have fun anymore.

The first issue is the passive AA reset that you took out. Before, doing your passive>E>Q+AA combo felt smooth, and good. Jungling felt good. Now, you E in, throw your shield, and just stand there and stare menacingly at your target for more than an AA duration, and it just makes playing Poppy feel so clunky and just bad. Sure, it lowered her burst, but it also made her less fun to play. Could just tweak numbers instead of totally changing mechanics.

Secondly, you lowered both ranges on her E. This means that you can't use your E unless you're literally on top of someone and they're literally standing on a wall. Other than that, you may as well not even have an E ability, since it can't be used to chase / gank / peel / anything effectively anymore. That neat trick Phreak showed us where he dashed to a minion then smacked someone near it? Yeah, you can't do that anymore. They'd be in range of your passive AA anyway. So, again, we're changing mechanics when tweaking numbers would have been far easier.

You said that she was too strong while being too tanky, right? That was the issue. Yet, instead of doing simple number changes, you totally changed how her kit works, and made it far less efficient, "good" feeling and just overall bad. There's a limit to nerfing, and you way overstepped it.

Wanna know how you nerf Poppy properly, without destroying her gameplay?

Step 1: Make her W only give bonus armor / MR when below the health threshold, and potentially when you activate it, but remove the permanent passive defense boost. BAM. She is much less tanky.

Step 2: Nerf her other abilities like you nerfed her Q; lower the base damage, increase the scaling. Now, she has to build AD to do damage, and can't just win through base damages anymore.

Step 3: Bring back her AA reset, lower the damage on her passive if needed.

Step 4: Buff her E range back to where it was, and realize that it's a skillshot and needs proper input to actually do anything.

When you reworked Poppy, she quickly became one of my favorite junglers; her kit was fun, she has an amazing personality / VO, she's adorable as hell, and she's actually strong if you can play her well. Now though? You can't build damage since her E is useless, and she has no burst anymore thanks to the removal of her AA reset, so even if you build AD you don't do any more damage than full tank Poppy, and are basically there just for your W. I wanted Lollipoppy a while ago, and finally got it in Hextech. I played one game with Poppy after her nerfs... and that's 60k+ mastery points that are ultimately useless now. I haven't played her in more than a month.

I Akali don't Chogath understand Darius why DrMundo you Ekko complain Elise about Fiora champs Garen who Gragas build Gnar tanky Irelia and JarvanIV still Jax do Malphite damage Maokai, seeing MasterYi as Nasus there Nautilus are Olaf tons Shyvana of Swain champs Rammus who TahmKench do Trundle just Udyr that, Vi but Volibear with MonkeyKing simpler XinZhao kits Zac...

Seriously, why do you freak out about Poppy, who is entirely skill-shot based, when we have all kinds of bullshit champs who require zero effort or thought, build full tank, and triple Poppy's damage output? I don't understand the bias. (Well, actually, I know why the bias is there, and it all boils down to your wonderful CEO and his asinine policies there)

Well, it is a great idea.

By your criteria ekko is entirely skillshot based, why'd they nerf him? Same as poppy. Ggwp.

They nerfed Ekko, they didn't change his kit.

  • Imagine if his E didn't make you roll anymore, and just made you teleport on your next auto.

  • Imagine if his Q only went one direction.

  • Imagine if his ult didn't move you anymore, but just made you explode and heal a bit.

Are those nerfs? Yes, but those are entirely changing the champion, and making it awkward and unfun to play. Changes like that are what they did to Poppy.

That ult change could be considered a buff.

Mm, depends. You couldn't tower dive anymore, you couldn't get out of a fight anymore, and your survivability goes way down. You have a stronger all in, but no disengage anymore.

Point is: It entirely changes how the champion plays, and not for the better.

You could still dive, you'd still go invulnerable and heal. But this would be changing his theme or be inaccurate lore wise. I get what you're saying though, it's like what they did to Akali.

yeah i agree with that w change.

she also needs to have her base damages fucked, and up her AD ratios. she's really unfun to play against when she literally has iceborn gauntlet as her only "damage" item and is basically assassinating carries. it's like fighting volibear- build full tank and do stupid and unfair amounts of damage, except it's extremely hard to kite her because of her cc and gapcloser and she does a little bit less damage. after these changes, then they can revert those nerfs.

until then, i'll be enjoying my time with less worries and lower stress levels because i'm not getting cc locked and assassinated by a full tank.

Yeah, a lot of tanks are like that though, so I don't get why they dumpster only Poppy (maybe it's 'cause she's still new-ish). I only hope that Riot does something to make Poppy more enjoyable, even if it's not changes like what I mentioned.

Have you met Udyr though? He says hello. :P

I get what you mean about her feeling "clunky" now. I picked up her real quick after her rework, and enjoyed dominating everyone everywhere. When you can keep Q'ing, E'ng to wall, and Q again until the enemy is dead with no chance to fight back, yea it was pretty OP lol. She definitely needed nerfs. After the nerfs, the thing that still throws me off the most is how short her E is now until contact. It drives me nuts! Everything else it's bearable. I don't play her as much as prenerf, but she can still hold her own. You have to be more cautious now.

Oh she definitely needed nerfs, but I don't think they really thought about how to properly do it without ruining her playstyle. (But then, Riot is owned by Tencent now, so I'm expecting all the more kneejerk changes to save money). If they nerfed her in the ways I talked about, it'd bring her back in line, but she'd still feel the same, which is important.

She can still function, yeah, but you can't do half the things you used to be able to do -- not even talking about just damage either.
