How is Yasuo windwall considered a basic ability and not an ult?

xxxMadLionxxx··19 votes·1,807 views

Just think about it. The amount of damage this basic skill can negate is mind blowing. No other skill or ult can block the amount of damage Yasuo wind wall can, especially in team fights. The wall get wider with rank and It can even block several ultimate like MF, Lucian, Ashe ult.

What's annoying is that it has a 26 second cooldown while being able to block ultimate attacks that have much higher cooldowns. Lucian ult has a 90 second cooldown at rank 3 for example.

How is this fair? How is that even considered a basic ability?

I feel like, his windwall needs a much higher cooldown, or a harder condition to use. Because blocking an ult, with a basic ability is just bullshit on a 26 cooldown.

It has hilariously easy counterplay and you can easily just walk around it. Just don't throw all your abilities into the windwall and you should be fine.

Blast Deadlift3 votes

tell that to the other 4 scrubs on my team who hurr dur throw themselves at the wall.

I think you've forgotten that this is a team game. 4 players down from 5 = 80% damage reduction on the team.

Yea you can walk around it, but lets say the team fight has broken out, as a Lucian player, I literally have to wait for him to use it for me to get the green light to go ahead. Meanwhile I'm holding onto my ult using AA and getting close to the fight when I really want to ult from a safe distance, but I can't because Yas is near by and he has not use his wind wall yet.

Slight correction: You can walk THROUGH it even. :D

well, in theory, yes you can, but realistically it's often hard to approach and even go around yasuo's windwall because it means you have to move out of position and can easily get jumped on and killed by the enemy team, it's more of something you end up waiting out, unless the opposing yasuo puts it in a really bad position. windwall imo is mainly stupid and non-interactive when you're playing someone like lucian or mf. anyone else that might use their 1-shot ult to burst someone down can sometimes catch the yas off guard will be able to do some good dmg before the windwall comes up, but with mf and lucian, they have to wait for yas to use it on something else, because their ults take a couple seconds to even deal the full dmg, and will get mostly blocked every time if yas has windwall up.

1)How does walking around it help? Can't Yasuo just reposition as well?

2)Don't throw everything at once, lies on the assumption that Yasuo is going use his wall for every little thing thrown at him.

Yasuo cannot move his wall. In a teamfight scenario it will be very easy to just pressure him away from the wall.

There is more than powerful skillshot in a game. I can promise you that a yasuo will block a lux Q to not get snared, or something to that effect. Then after his wall has been used you can easily use your ability on him.

  1. Wouldn't his team want to fight near the wall? I didn't claim he could reposition his wall, besides in a tf,he's gonna use it when it's going to be needed. He wont just place it there for the lolz.

2)So,he always uses his W to block Lux's Q instead of sometimes just doding it? You still have to hit him first. You make it seems like this is the easiest thing to do,but it's not.

Veigar ult @ enemy carry. 1.5sec later windwall goes up and blocks it. (feelsbadman)

Imo it should at least have a delay and not block projectiles retroactively.

That is not entirely correct. Do you research or formulation better next time.

not sure why you're being downvoted tbh, invulnerability ults and untargetable abilities like Fizz E, Kayle ult, and Taric ult all have a relatively even if not greater potential dmg avoided/blocked.

NA Forums, I don't know either. It's the only forum where I get downvotes actually. Whether they have a problem with me or some special people who literally downvote everything that doesn't sound like their opinion in the first place :/

If you are stupid enough to launch you attacks at him without having baited out the shield that is you being bad not him being op. If you can't wait the 4 seconds he shield is up, that is being bad, not him being op. If you can can't side step the shield, that is you being stupid not him being op. Like get good.

Solo que is not that cordinated on plat elo or higher to "bait it out". If your team engages and as adc or mage u cant follow with your constant dps, his wall will fuk your team in ass. For 4 sec tanks can be dealt with late game, dont make me start on fighters or any other front line or mid line positions, you say to side step the shield.... making u position unfavorably 70% of the time, geting u chunked or killed. There is great value in a abilty, rly cant understand ppl that dont see it and defend it......

Except for every blink and every dash (including summoner 4, available to everyone), stuns (stunned men do no damage), and Direct Damage (dead men don't do damage), and invulnerability (Kayle Tryndamere Taric ).

With all due respect sir, you have no idea what the hell you are talking about.

Well let's actually consider what OP is saying. Speaking from the mindset of what I assume is a skilled Yasuo player, (I refuse to pick him up because O've got a little dignity and I'm also bad) his wall will be used reactively instead proactively. Considering balance changes are made at high plat/up, it's easier to assume he will block most skill shots that aren't beams or damage adjacent areas to a champion (IE Annie's W. Mordekaiser's E, Lux's R, Taric E).

A good Yasuo player will only engage on a fight if the following are true: -There is little hard CC available to keep him out of position -He is too fed to care -His 2 crit items are done

His primary role is that of an assassin, and he gets away with a lot because of dual passives (which is another balance idea I heavily question) His Wind Wall provides a stationary Braum Unbreakable with the only drawback of the ability is that is has a fairly high cooldown, and can be moved around. It allows allies to fire projectiles through it, while stopping enemy projectiles.

It's strengths are clearly defined and readily apparent, and has better defensive capability than that of a tank role. I believe that Yasuo's windwall should block ALL projectiles, not just hostile ones. This would create an inherent risk for both your team and your opponents, forcing everyone to play around it, much like Anivia's wall or Trundle's Pillar (minus the slow for allies).

This balance suggestion I understand would likely cripple most Yasuo players, and the people who benefit from the exclusive efforts of a skilled one. But considering that there are other abilities in the game that can harm just as easily as help, I believe this would remove some of the irritation many players have to go through when battling against a Yasuo who is winning a game 1v9.

TL:DR Make Wind Wall destroy all projectiles, not just hostile ones.

Because windwall doesn't even concern melee ppl.

For the same reason Veigar's stun is a basic ability: it's his only source of defense. By your logic, why don't you complain about Vladimir's crimson pool or Fizz's trollpoll, which negate any kind of damage, not just projectiles. Nice circlejerk post you got there, btw.

Only defense Passive shield ???

OP is talking about an active ability, so i excluded his passive.

Well you can walk around and position yourself fairly easily, and it doesn't do much against melees. If Yasuo holds on his wall, the he eats free poke preeetty much.

No other skill or ult can block the amount of damage Yasuo wind wall can, especially in team fights.

Yasuo only blocks projectiles, while a lot of damaging abilities are, many are aoe based adjacent or around a champion, which Yasuo cannot block, like Annie W or Renekton Q. Many are aoe spells like Viktor's ult or Corki's Q, which he can alos not block. Some spells have weird interactions, like Viktor E, which if cast in front of a wind wall will be blocked upon reaching, but if cast on the other side it will continue. Some are lasers, like lux.

Now some spells on the other hand, specifically invulnerability or untargetable spells, would remove all of the above, with Taric, Kayle, and Kindred ults being prime examples. These spells could easily remove more of your opponents damage than Yasuo's windwall.

theres really no reason for it to be an ult

hiemerdingers Q does infinite damage, you can make a lot of things sound ultworthy

People really need to stop thinking that ultimate abilities aren't invincible/uncounterable from regular abilities or gameplay. As much as I'd like for Sion to smash through player made terrain, he can't and I have accept that.

Yeah Yasuo's wall is annoying. But it stopping ultimate abilities isn't unfair at all.
