"we believe he's overpowered and that that will be an issue we need to act on before patch 6.8"

Yeah, right. You guys believe he is OP based on... a week of data? ( Aurelion sol ) Any, I repeat, ANY meta mid laner stomp him mid due to mobility. Ahri, Zed, Talon. Nothing he can do about them. Also, long range mages will never ever be damaged by him except if they are blind. All his abilities except ult are EXTREMELY telegraphed. Riot has absolute no idea what they are doing. Illaoi being a disaster and nerfing a champion that is kind of week like aurelion sol just proves that riot has absolute no idea what they are doing

He's a just released champion that champ.gg is showing at 50% (and rising!) winrate mid.

All signs point to OP.

From the red posts I've seen on the topic, Riot is more concerned about the learning curve; They're trying to nip the problem at the bud, so to speak.

They're seeing people achieve win rates on Aurelion Sol much higher much earlier on (relative to games played) than they feel comfortable with, so they're trying to tone him down a bit to make him feel more fair before he becomes an infamous "no skill" champion.

Nerfing his CC will not change anything about his learning curve. Too soon for riot make ANY assumption about aurelion. No one is not even complaning about him. When illaoi was released , boards were full about complaints that she was OP. Turns out that illaoi was and is actually garbage

Hey, don't shoot the messenger; I'm just giving you what I've been told/seen around the forums. Never said I agree with their preemptive nerfs. I think they should let it play out and only nerf him when he becomes a problem, if you ask me.

Aurelion Sol has one of the simplest and most straight forward kits that I have ever seen, Riot designed him to be an easy to play champion for new players to pick up and have fun in the game early on. But that is his biggest problem he is to simple, so yes people are going to be able to pick him up faster than any other champion and the only solution to that is to add more to his kit so there is more to learn.

I refer you to the reply I gave DropFill below. Just saying what I found, not what I actually think.

It does seem too early... We've barely had time for a large number of players to learn how to play him, let alone for others to learn how to play against him.

If Riot really does have the numbers to support this decision, not only showing he is too strong but showing that he is too strong against knowledgeable opponents, I would love to see them.

Seems like riot is nerfing him out of blue for no reason at all. They belive he is too strong based on what? One week data? His play ratio is low for a new released champion, his ban ratio is not that huge anymore because people don't want anyone feeding with him on their team, and ALL HIS KIT can be easily countered by staying on top of him. Only thing he can do is AA you when you get close to him, his Q speed is low af, his W range is a fix range that rotates kind of slowly. Riot sincerely has no idea what thet are doing

I'm sorry but Sol isn't that strong. I won a 1v1 duel with Xerath face hugging him. People just don't know how to play against him.

What you smoking? His Q deals 110 base damage at rank 2. 2 hits of W, at rank 1, would deal not more than 100 damage. 500 free damage lol

Well then wtf, legit level 4 this kid actually did 230 to me with that ability, and his W would add an extra 150, along with aa's and thunderlords

1 week of data can easily = 100000+ games of information on that champion across all elo's........... This is actually a huge sample size. Considering the learning curve on Aurelion Sol.... Positioning and control of his q he has a pretty high Skill Cap. He is also a super mobile champion with game changing abilities...... Q and R.

We don't see the trend their internal data is showing..... However I remember when zed was released and a lot of people called him trash tier for the first week or so......Turns out he was god tier but no one was really good on him yet.
