To all you people who ban your teammates champions

Hibeki··63 votes·7,829 views

Fuck you. Fuck all of you.

I'm not talking about the times where you didn't have it highlighted, and they banned it, and say "oh my bad man". When that happens to me i'm not mad at all, just a little disappointed.

I'm talking about the "haha for teh lulz!" or "You got my role fuck you" people. Fuck you.

The only times when I intentionally banned champs were because someone would pick the new/reworked champ straight into ranked. I do agree though that banning someone's champ without a good reason is a dick move, but generally people have a reason... for example, I don't want to see a Kled on my team anytime soon - cause he needs buffs/balancing and I really don't want to deal with a really fed enemy toplane due to someone "practicing".

Beldair2 votes

Kled has good uses in a comp against an assassin top. When dealing with a duelist or trundle top, he gets out matched.

I actually try to play Kled top to get better against changing circumstances.

Cause bot games can only teach you the champs abilities and what types of builds might work on them. They don't help you to actually play the champ. You have to play norms against live opponents to truly learn how to play a champ.

That's why I know Kled isn't particularly strong against duelists like Fiora and why Trundle just stomps on the crazed Yordle. It's also how I learned that Kayle isn't a good pick against the Troll and how Braum is a strong counter pick to mobile ADCs and MF.

Knoyle1 votes

The issue here is that Kled is still rather new so it is hard to believe anyone is actually optimal with him yet.

Beldair2 votes

He has been out for over a week, plenty of time for some to truly know him... Others have to have practice in actual PvP matches.

How do you expect people to truly learn him of you keep banning him?

How did you learn to deal with unforseen circumstances with your main?

By fighting in norms correct?

Normals/blind pick. There are always tryhards there who would ban him in draft, but in general not only people play more "practice" champs there, but also are more lenient in terms of picks. Just.. don't stall games if there's like 10% to win, keep the tryhard for ranked and start a new game with clean slate but more experience on the champ.

Beldair1 votes

Exactly...I don't play ranked myself because there may be times where I have to go afk because I have to help with my aunt's son (rare but it happens) and I'd rather not affect a persons rank because I afked to help with a baby.

Also, playing a new champ in ranked is not something I find appropriate when trying to climb.

I do agree that norms (draft/blind pick) is the mode to practice a particular champ.

facehammer1 votes

about that kled example: if its ranked, okey fine. but normal: dude normals are for practicing and having fun so banning a champion because you dont want him/her in your team in normals is weak imo... and dont say you should practice against bots cause you dont learn nearly as much as when you play against other people........ I really like to play Yasuo but he gets banned a lot so i always say in chat i want to play him but people on my team will still ban him... cant they make it so that when you highlight a champion you want to play, your team can't ban that particular champion??

WoonStruck16 votes

If I see someone hover Yasuo mid and it doesn't fit our team in the slightest, you can bet your ass I'm gunna ban him.

So sick of seeing glass Yasuos on my team only deal 8k damage all game while the tanks on my team are at 20k.

No thank you.

Pretty much anything else I'm okay with. Yasuo players are generally WAY too feast or famine, especially ones that don't take their team's and the enemy team's comps into consideration. If they don't get a cheesy kill early, you're pretty much doomed to a 4v5.

Only Play Darius15 votes

So it's alright to be toxic to Yasuo players before they have even done anything because they deserve it for playing that champ, but when you do the same thing against any other player you're scum of the earth who deserves a permaban as well as to be told "Fuck you" 5 times on a boards thread. The hypocrisy here is incredible.

It's a matter of the champion being far too cheesy, difficult to master, hard to play when fallen behind, and frankly the teammate is usually going to be selfish as fuck.

Basically the same reason you don't want a Riven on your team. Usually going to do poorly, especially with no gold, and then toxic up your team all while providing no value aside from low damage. All in the name of, "lul its fun".

Ackelope8 votes

Why is this comment receiving upvotes? Doing something that judgemental based solely on the champion someone has picked is just as douchey as what the person in the original topic was talking about. If someone legitimately wants to play a champion in a role and doesn't intend to troll, and you ban it, you're being an asshole and might be making your chances to win worse, since people tend to pick champions they're good at.

WoonStruck2 votes

Except Yasuo players.

I very, very, very rarely see even a half-decent Yasuo player. If they get fed, its because of the jungler, or they got a cheesy kill early or at 6 because they happened to land a knock-up. They all show their lack of prowess if the game isn't completely closed out at 20 minutes.

Ackelope2 votes

Yasuo actually scales quite well, and all too often I've seen a feeding Yasuo get a few items completed and proceed to steamroll in teamfights if his team has good synergy with him or he starts playing well, but regardless, you are the one who chooses to ban what you do. I still think banning picks from your team is rarely a good idea, but it is up to you in the end :/

WoonStruck1 votes

If he has synergy with the team, he's a fine pick and what you've said would apply. He just needs someone to enable his ult.

Relying on Q for knock-ups past laning phase makes him a non-factor when he's glass cannon.

Its the ones that are essentially looking to be a liability to their team if they don't snowball early on that I'm avoiding. I'd honestly rather have someone make an off-meta pick or troll because A)The off meta pick will likely be more reliable B) if they legitimately troll, it shows what kind of player they are and that they deserve it.

Langhof6 votes

But here's the thing. Someone like you recently banned my Yasuo that I had hovered for midlane in a ranked game one time, and said "I don't want you to feed we only have one other knockup." And then they go to my page and realize they just banned a Yasuo from a mastery 7 Yasuo main with 500k xp that averages around 15 kills and 3 towers a game.

Teslium2 votes

I have 10k mastery points on ryze and I am doing better than the average Yasuo. This whole "Oh hey I am fking lvl 7 I know how to play" jack shit need to stop. Mastery means nothing, other than I spammed this champion in about 150 games and somewhere in those games got couple Ss.

Spicy Rice5 votes

I guessing you need glasses as you forgot the 500k exp part of the post

Ackelope4 votes

even if they aren't good at a champion, their level 7 champion is probably their best champion, they might just not be great at the game in general, which is something you'll have to deal with from time to time. the best thing to do is to just let them play what they know best, whether they're good or not, better to have the best you can in a bad situation.

Teslium3 votes

Mastery lvl 7 means nothing. You can get those tokens from normal games. Normal games are usually Who's going to get first blood and stomp the game, and since those happen almost everytime, they have a higher chance of getting mastery lvl 6 and 7 tokens.

Ackelope2 votes

Mastery 7 does mean something. It means they've played the champion enough times to get them their. Even if they suck at the game, they probably know that champion better than the current OP champ who they've played once ever. My point is not that mastery means they're good at the champion or the game, but that they're probably better at that champion than most other champions they could be playing.

i'll admit it's pretty funny when you're with like a group of 3 or 4 in a NORMAL. Everybody laughs in the skype call when the other guy responds.

No. Unless it's someone in your own group that you did it to that's still bullshit and you should be ashamed of yourself.

Sirsir5 votes

In ranked, yes. In norms, no

Knoyle4 votes

Some of my friends have done this and I ask them this.

"Would you rather have a Bad [insert champion here] or a Bad AND Tilted whatever they choose after."

You never know they might not be as horrible as you think while being even worse as what they are forced to pick because you banned their intent.

While yes it's rude, I would rather ban out my teammates trolls champs than play with it. Say someone hovers broker or yi in ranked. You bet your ass I'm gonna ban that. I don't wanna play with or against those champs.

So I get where your comming from but now think k of the other side of the coin. Imagine you're a toxic troll that locks teemo every game. How would you feel if I banned your champ ?

As someone who feeds like Chef Ramsay when people do this to me, would you rather have that? You ban my Teemo JG, i'm just gonna pick Ashe or Cait. If we're going down, I'm taking you with me.

Maximum Morde3 votes

Yes. I can carry a crappy Cait or Ashe cause at least they still provide some cc in team fights. I can't carry a feedmo.

They won't be providing anything but "unintentionally" feeding. You know, going 1v3 and they certainly won't be team fighting. It will be a 4v6 because you intentionally banned their champion. Good luck carrying that.

TIL Yi is a troll pick despite being incredibly strong

i've actually won more games banning people's intended picks

RocketRelm3 votes

Do you have any statistics to back this up, or is this just based on "I sorta remember this 1-3 times where I did it and we won anyway, versus this 1-3 times I didn't do it and we lost".

Remember to 'forget' all those times that you didn't do it and won anyway, because Selective Memory is fun.

You hover Teemo, i ban Teemo. Utter deadweight. You hover Yi, i check to see if you are Yi main. If not i ban him - i wont allow u to be the sole deciding factor of the game, by either stomping off lucky kills, or doing nothing and making the game 4v6. You hover Lee, Zed or Azir, i ban them. You are not skilled enough, those champs are for Dia+.

Pick something that can be carried even when behind, and i will carry every single game, 100 % sure win.

rtbf761092711 votes

...wouldn't it be better to ban potential threats to your team than YOUR OWN TEAM?? You are potentially making someone play a champion they are far less comfortable on when you do this.

Also yes I'm sure you get 100% win rates with certain champions you can carry on your team. That's why are are the best player in the world kappa

Sniperkaj2 votes

i have a 66 % winrate on Xerath in 2 seasons straight. i perform badly in maybe 2 of 100 games, mediocre in 1 of 10 games, and amazing in the rest. Give me the smallest chance to carry, i will carry. Yi and Teemo are two of the hardest champs to carry, as their contribution to their team is negative if slightly behind.

Stanford Pines2 votes

I usually forget to look at the highlighted champions on my team and end up (sometimes) banning Yasuo, even if someone on my team wants to play him I just feel bad enough to dodge that game

CookyPrince2 votes

What if they hovered Teemo top in a game where they have 2 assassins and we had no tanks

Rock MD2 votes

I always ban my teammate's champion if he decides to pick a high p/b champ and he's not first pick/nobody is gonna trade him.

The Yetii Rider1 votes

I only do this to Zed players, and that's because Zed has no reliable CC and is completely useless if he gets behind (even if he's ahead, he kills one person and then is dead weight).

If you are going to play low-utility selfish champions I reserve the right to flex my ban muscle and remind you this is a team game.

Meep Man3 votes

It's toxic to want my allies to provide something to the team besides damage? When there's about 20 viable mid laners who have utility or CC? Okay.

Yes, it is toxic. If you can't handle different people that want to play different things than you think is best, play a single player game
