You could say some completely bullshit statement like "Zed can 1v1 baron early game and instakill everylane with his point and click ult at the same time" and literally get like 100 upvotes but if you say something like "Zed can easily be countered, maybe going ignite/ rushing ap isn't going to help you win lane" will get 100 downvotes.

zed is not "easily countered." what you proposed are itemization and summoner choices that can help you survive, but that alone does not allow you to shut him down. you still have to effectively dodge his skillshots for the 8+ minutes of laning with fairly limited resources that are limited even further due to forced itemization into armor.
