Serious question here, i've been playing shen for a long time now and quite frequently and i don't really understand why this item is so appealing on him still. I thought getting some ap on sheen was part of the reason it was a solid pick up in previous seasons, but now it doesnt have that added bonus. Wouldn't something like rageblade, wits end, or even titanic be a better offensive item?
Thromgaar1 votesTypically i pick up Bork on shen because of his dueling power, mostly it's used because of the attack speed increase, and overall stats. it's not that great on him but i can understand why people do it. That being said, i also only play him in the jungle and the attack speed helps with clears and with finishing off carries with lifesteal.
Dreadlocks1 votesYeah i use to prefer botrk over trinity as well.. I felt it gave more damage. (idk how it is now that botrk got nerfed but i cant imagine it being awful)

I used to build shen as a tank but I found it rather boring and not engaging enough and wanted to try something different.
Dreadlocks1 votesit's kind of hard to not play shen as a tank given his E. But i know what you mean, it can get a little dull. Last season i use to do something like this 
ltmetal1 votesTriforce isn't good on him anymore. The main draw for him getting it as an early offensive item was that it gave him hybrid stats while letting him win short trades. All of these options are better offensively, I list them in order of degree of situational success:
