Give Riot a break, especially recently Ghostcrawler, and be grateful and praise the good
As far as a game company goes, Riot is a great one, and it's really disturbing to see so many frequent comments and threads on people bashing them all the time, and making it seem like they are incompetent; it's like so many people are treating them like they are EA games or something. I read two in depth and insightful replies Ghostcrawler made in response to threads in the past two weeks, and I hope people actually read his responses to help reduce the amount of threads that belittle or shames the work Riot does. From what I experience in game in addition to what I have read on the boards from the Riot team from Meddlar, Riot Stashu, Ghostcrawler, Riotrepertoir, Reav3 and a few others, they listen to us and will make changes and improvements to the game they believe will benefit the game as a whole.
Most recently with regard to clash it was an ambitious change to help make league more enjoyable and give an extra competitive thrill with friends. Yes it was disappointing it got canceled, especially because it is difficult to get a team available for the specific times it started, but it is understandable considering they least are making a change of this magnitude to improve the game. Honestly even though I was surprised it was canceled and am disappointed as I spent some time trying to find a team on Friday a few hours before it started, I could at least understand why they had to do it. More people should give them more of the benefit of the doubt that it was something difficult to have fixed to have caused that. Since that is a particularly new undertaking and it being a fairly new mode in league it's understandable if they missed something and made a mistake since I believe certain problems only become more apparent during when it's released and it would be difficult to catch in testing.
Now onto League of Legends in general. Riot can't please everyone given the large variety in what different players prefer. This is common knowledge and is said frequently, but I think gets overlooked excessively by people unsatisfied with something in the game.
I reiterate, Riot can't please everyone, and they need to make changes that they believe will bring what their vision of the game is to make it an overall success for the entire playerbase stemming from their judgement while regarding the various feedback they receive from the collective community. They try to balance the game while also trying to keep it interesting for the overall playerbase to keep the game fresh, exciting, and enjoyable. As a result some champions get much stronger or weaker than they should be to be considered balanced; for example if you remember in the past Malzahar after the mage update(voidlings overpowered and frenzy, long damage reduction/cc immunity shield), Leblanc in assassin update, past Azir, Zoe in release, Ezreal when new runes came out(when klept was too strong, and muramana double proc bug)etc. A slight conspiracy theory for me is they perhaps make champions too strong or too weak sometimes intentionally to please a certain playerbase more or to attract certain new players to the game, and they believe it will be better for the game as a whole to have that champion overpowered/underpowered temporarily for a few weeks and occasionally longer than that, but usually it does not stay that way for long.
Instead of yet another thread full of pessimism and criticizing riot, in this thread I would like people to post two subjects in your replies. First In a concise way make a reply on something Riot did in the past that you appreciated the most and made the game much more enjoyable, and 2nd present a change to the game you would like to see most. I made mine in the next 2 paragraphs.
#My favorite addition to League: The changes made to Talon in the assassin update as he is my main and most played champion by far with over 700,000 pts. I mained him before the assassin update, and the change just made his style of gameplay as an assassin more fun and more unique. On a side note(even though I said only one), I just have to mention that I also definitely liked the rune changes this season with the new variety of choices and it being more streamlined.
#A future addition to League I would most like to see: The meticulous champion concept I created in a thread that is a AD mid lane assassin that I named Feng be made into the game or a champion very closely resembling him and his theme, traits, and abilities in his kit. If not that then a slight rework to Talon that makes him more mobile and makes him able to use projectile skill shots more frequently(I mention Talon because the thread on Feng had stemmed from a talon update concept I made to then me thinking of the new champion Feng, so those two are connected). For Talon it would be really cool if his W rake's range was increased a bit to be between 700 - 800 range, and rakes cooldown increased with rank and at max rank being at a 4 second cooldown, and the first tick of his W deals more damage the higher the rank is with max rank being 90% of the total damage from first tick of rake; while to make this change trading off lower damage on his bleed and/or q. Additionally another change to Talon I would like is for his E to also have a dash component that wasn't restricted to walls/terrain and that had cooldown reset or cooldown reducing conditions. I would enjoy Talon much more with those changes, but ofcourse the ideal would be if you guys made Feng or a champion closely resembling Feng.
Here is a link for people curious about the champion concept Feng I made: https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/GWq7Mxas-feng-new-ninja-themed-ad-assassinfor-meddler-riot-stashu-riotrepertoirwill-popularityprofit
So naturally I am biased towards things being done to Talon, and them making the champion Feng I thought of or a champion very similar to him. I am super passionate about changes like that being made, especially because of the extent I put into the Talon update thread, to then the thread I made about the champion Feng concept; however that doesn't mean if the game changes I want don't happen that I'll rage about it or threaten to stop playing the game or something, which is a disappointing mentality I see too often from the community. I'll like the game significantly more if the champion Feng I thought of is made for sure, but the thing is the game is already something great that I enjoy, and it should be appreciated more by players despite what is believed to be major problems or areas of concern.
Everyone in the community should really stop hating so many of the things Riot does and having such a pessimistic attitude, and instead should be more grateful because there are so many other worse games and gaming companies out there; the state of the game could be much worse, but Riot makes steady changes and improvements to help keep the game in an ideal state.
It is challenging to keep a game like League of Legends balanced while also keeping it exciting and fun amidst the "tug of war" from the various different player preferences who have different desires for the game. I have played League for about 2.5 years now, and since I have started Riot has been doing a consistently good job. There is this popular stigma and fallacy that Riot is not good at what they do which I refuse to believe; the games popularity is testament to that, and it is really disappointing that there are so many people in the League of Legends community full of criticism rather than praise. Riot is doing an awesome job considering the overall success of League of Legends and is communicating well with players on the forums.
For those who share my optimism and belief in the Riot team please upvote and reply by at least giving a concise comment on a change or update that you most enjoyed about the game and preferably is something that is still in game, and if you want also briefly give a gameplay change you would like to see in the future.
I believe in Riot's vision and goals for the game as well as their capabilities towards the ideal of maintaining that quintessential equilibrium of making League of Legends optimally balanced while also optimally enjoyable for the collective playerbase. Thank you Riot for the work you have done and for keeping the game great. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]
